Re: El Generico Signs With WWE
It's exciting until you realise there's about a 95% chance he'll be saddled with an awful name and gimmick...

Re: El Generico Signs With WWE
He's pretty much the perfect marketable character for the WWE today.
I just trust them to fuck it up. Needs to keep his name, his mask, his everything and he'd be gold.

Until it's on a site like PWInsider, i'm not going to believe this.

Re: El Generico Signs With WWE
Not sure I believe it. Not sure I believe WWE will let him keep his current character even though it could work amazingly in WWE today. Wasn't there a rumour a few days ago about another Luchadore who's name I can't remember?

Re: El Generico Signs With WWE
According to Twitter (was linked a few pages back), after previously pulling out of PWG's DDT4 event through injury he's back on the card teaming with Steen. Guess that event will tell us whether he's staying or if its indeed a farewell match on the indy circuit for him.
Not sure why people are worried about his moveset being restricted. Generico's talent has always been his bumping, selling and ability to play a sympathetic babyface working opposite a heel on the indy scene. Sure like most other wrestlers his moveset is far more glamorous and crowd pleasing, but I have faith Generico could still work a crowd and put on good matches through his character work and selling even if his half nelson suplexes have to be replaced with crossbody's, dropkicks and other basic offence.
As X Static said though, its too early to tell yet without being disrespectful to the site reporting it. Either a Twitter confirmation from PWG or fellow wrestlers, or any details which emerge from DDT4 and his involvement should give us a better idea though. FWIW I couldn't see him having the success the likes of Punk, Bryan and possibly Cesaro may enjoy, but he'd definitely be an asset to the roster.

Cause he's going to WWE....a place where most guys movesets are restricted like crazy.
Even Cena had a big moveset in his early days, but then once he went into main event ,WWE cut it down

I wasn't saying it as if WWE wouldn't tone down his moveset, that's a given. My argument was more directed at people concerned Generico would suffer from a resticted moveset.
My point being, whilst things like the brainbuster on the turnbuckle is a great spot, his ability to work around a more restricted moveset shouldn't be questioned. It occurred when Cesaro signed with people questioning how he'd get over with a stripped down moveset, yadda yadda yadda. Wrestling has always been about the characters and how you work/sell your character in between the moves. My general point is that whilst Generico being unlikely to bust out half nelson suplexes or turnbuckle exploders may annoy fans who adore the moves, any argument that he as a performer will suffer from this shouldn't be argued. Like Bryan, Cesaro, Bourne and Punk he's good enough in the fundamentals to overcome a restricted moveset.
