Faces of the Company

I started to think about the faces of the company and that many want Cena replaced as it.

If im correct, no one have taken the face of the company status when the current face have been active. Am I wrong?

Sammartino left, therefor Hogan could take the spot.
Hogan left for wcw, therefor Bret could take the spot.
Bret quit, therefor Stone Cold could take the spot.
Stone Cold quit, therefor Cena could take the spot.

Im pretty sure that The rock would have taken the spot instead of Cena if Rock was active at the time Stone Cold quit.

So, I dont think we will see a new face of the company until Cena quits.

Re: Faces of the Company

Wasn't Rock and Austin both holding the company up? Like after Survivor Series 1999?

But yeah, LOL Cena just won't quit so I am not sure when WWE is gonna bring about a new face of the company.

I actually think Vince does like Punk's character but just doesn't like his image.

Re: Faces of the Company

I think Punk is the alternative if Cena would drastically quit or so, even if Ryback seems to get that role more and more.

Yeah, Stone Cold and Rock was pretty much faces of the company both of them. But Stone Cold seems to be the one ppl often brings up as the face of the company rather then Rock.

Like they had Ultimate Warrior as a good back up for Hogan.
As they had Shawn Michaels for Bret.
Rock for Stone Cold.

I might say Batista was a back up plan when he had his peak 2005-2006. He for example won over Taker at Cyber Sunday. Thats effing huge.

Re: Faces of the Company

Rock wasn't a backup plan. He was full-on the face of the company in 2000. When he went to film a movie and came back, he and Austin shared the spot of top face.

There's no one to take over right now for Cena as top face. Punk'd be the best option, though.

Re: Faces of the Company

Vince kind of replaced Bret Hart with Lex Luger after Hogan overshadowed him. When Luger failed they went back to Bret, but as the company lost money in '94 Diesel was chosen to become headliner. That didn't work, so Bret was transistional champion for Shawn Michaels. HBK was an asshole back then, so the title was passed to company man The Undertaker, who had moved beyond gimmick wrestler and became a kind of psuedo face of the company while HBK got his act together and Bret played the face/heel divide. Stone Cold Steve Austin was taking the role of top face whether or not Bret left the company and HBK was out of the picture.

IMO, Vince never really saw the likes of Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin and CM Punk as the company faces. His idea of the man is Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Lex Luger, Diesel, The Rock, Triple H, Randy Orton etc. I think he'd really try to repace Cena with Ryback or Sheamus.

Re: Faces of the Company

I have a feeling it will be The Miz the face of the company after Cena leaves. It's not something that i want to happen, but it's a possibility.

Exactly.

Vince wants that All american american as face. Look at Hogan, he was the suntanned all american amercian with a catchy patriotic theme.
Stone Cold was the stereotypcial american redneck.
Cena is the stereotypical military/patriotic guy.

Miz is the only option I can see right now. Everything about him screams poster boy.

Re: Faces of the Company

Lets not underestimate Zigglers potential. Although WWE are doing everything they can to fuel peoples hatred of the man, it is only serving to get him super-over. I know it is somewhat of a long shot, so please don't think I am saying this will definitely happen, but if WWE keep marketing Ziggler as heel for a prolonged period then there is a potential for crowds to keep getting super-behind him, creating a super-over Ziggler.

Vincent K McMahon:

"Despite the way I would feel personally about someone, if it's the right business thing to do, I'll do it for our audience."

"Giving it to the audience is probably the easiest thing. Finding out what they truly want is probably the most difficult."

"If you stop building stars, which we never do, you wouldn't be in business."

"We love our fans, so there's nothing we wouldn't do for them, and we go directly to them."

"Again, the nice part about it is that we listen to our fans, and they're the ones who really decide who is ready to break through into that top echelon."
