Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

I was really looking forward to WWE replacing Cena as their main guy, it took so many years, but honestly I just can't get behind CM Punk.

I hate to sound like one of those Attitude Era leftovers that just hate the new generation no matter what, because honestly I've given them a chance (I like Daniel Bryan, Sheamus, Miz, and Wade Barrett but not enough to get behind them religiously) but you're probably right OP, this to me is the worst ever period in the WWE.

As of late he is back in is super cena role again, even though they did screw him hard by making him the first ever to lose a Money In The Bank contract (or a smart idea so he always be reminded even after 20 years that he was the first). They don't seem to realize people want to see wrestlers, not a superstar who does his standard set of moves and leaves again. They are also making him seem the only one doing anything for the Make A Wish Foundation, WWE is in hands with MAWF for 30 years.

The thing is, we are living in bad times, economy world wide is crap, money is harder to come by, also for the WWE, they realized how over they were with kids (just like in the 80's) and changed to PG to get more kids to watch the show so they can sell allot more merchandise, more merchandise sold = more money coming in and they can continue putting on shows (doing tours around the world is not cheap, if they don't sell than more half the tickets available they lose money on it). It's allot like the 80's, early 90's again, cashing in on kids, but the economy is gonna climb on its feet again and the WWE can take more risks. And let's hope they go TV14 again.
He doesn't get pushed anymore, he's the top star. He is Vince's numero uno and until another face comes around and makes more money than JC, he will stay the top star. And it ain't gonna be Goldberg Part II.

This will never happen as long as Cena and his random or #1 contender matches are more important than the world champion matches and the champions

If Kurt Angle, Big Show, JBL and Booker T acted like Cena 10 years ago he would never be on the top.

You're really including Batsita in this? He's still in the WWE, he's Mason Ryan, he's Ezekiel Jackson, he's Ryback and he's now Big E Langston.

Back to the topic though, there have been far worse periods than this in WWE history. Go back and watch WWE circa 1992-1995, there was some really dire stuff back then.

Really apples and oranges comparison when you compare todays product with the early 90's. For starters the WWE has no competition. If you combined the 1992 WWF and WCW rosters you would get by far the best roster in the history of wrestling.

Matches were saved for big shows back then. If 1992 were booked like today Bret and Shawn would've had 20 matches on tv and ppv instead of one. Yeah that makes the shows better, but it also makes people not care about the big ppv match when they can just see the same match every other week.

Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

I personally feel 1995 was the worst year, in ring, for WWE. Kind of similar to this period. You have a long title reign with a lack of credible challengers. And the top spot centered around 4 guys, HBK, Diesel, Bret & Taker, all babyfaces. Heels were pretty much a non factor. At least we have a heel champion now and a interesting tie in with the Shield.

The biggest angles of 1995 were Sid turning on HBK and Mabel winning KOTR. How is what we've seen in 2012 worse than the push of Mabel?

Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

I believe it is the worst time in wrestling and the problem is they are abandoning the simple system that makes wrestling so effective. this is being done through the over complication of story lines, it used to just be "hey here is a really bad guy, and hes unbeatable, now heres a good guy, and hes going to try and top the bad guy" also the death of WWE and TNA is it is now 75% talk 15% action 10% terrible self promotion. the weakness in each show is found in all the mid card matches now being very cookie cutter an the same. two guys in speedos in a singles match, during these matches you can hear a rat piss on cotton. they need to look into getting back veterans that can work the mid card and help to diversify the up coming talent. and believe me there are pleanty of names out there that would come back in a heart beat (and no not like that fat piece of shit Albert)
whooo that was a fun rant!

Tonight, we have a chance to say, 'Yeah, you're right. We're too extreme. We're too wild. We're too out of control. We're too full of our own shit.' Or we have a chance to say, 'Hey, fuck you, you're wrong! Fuck you, we're right!' Because you have all made it to the dance. 'Cause believe me, this is the dance! "

Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

some are saying the early 90s sucked.. the aerly 90s were great..
there was a lot of cheese but everything was cheesy in that time.

this is definitely the worse time of WWE. like it's just not good television.
probably one of the worst things on TV right now. not very compelling at all..

They need a new creativity team in order to have a better product. Doing the same crap will only result in getting the same crap.
