To be honest, Orton and Cena are both important players in the Ruthless Aggression era (2002-2006). That's a rather relevant era even if nothing compared to the Attitude or Golden eras. And that era is certainly pretty huge when compared to now when wrestling is more irrelevant than ever.

No, we've bitched extensive about 2009-2010 and 2010-2011 RAW is GUEST HOST Era Raw.

RAW is GUEST HOST is usually cited as one of if not the worst periods to watch RAW in the past 10 years or so.
RAW is CENA and RAW is GUEST HOST were excruciating to me. Watch the RAW ep with the A Team crap before Nexus debuted. Jesus Christ. Worst RAW of the year.

He has won 10 World Titles.
He has been a part of one of the greatest stables of all time.
He has had WM matches with Rock,Undertaker,HHH,Cena,Foley,CM Punk etc
Shawn Michaels went on to be one of the greatest superstars in history but I don't think HBK by mid-1996 had achieved much more than Randy Orton by 2012.

How is Cena bigger than Bret? At least Bret knew when to turn heel and WWE didnt have to keep everyone else down to make him look good the way they do with Cena. Honestly Cena will go down in history as a disgrace and an example of how not to "create" a star. Bret wasnt a huge draw but nobody was in the mid 90s not even Hogan.

As for Orton yet again he was never THE man like HBK was from 96-WM 14. HBK won 2 Royal Rumbles and was in the first ever ladder/cage/ironman match. Even while riding Hunters back he still wasnt really a big star, i mean he only headlined 1 WM and that was only bc of Hunter.

Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

I think it's terrible quite frankly. I tried to force myself to watch it and have not seen a RAW since I think August. I go to the forums here and there and read the discussions when I'm bored but it's just so bad. I tried to turn it on again about a week or so ago and just-- I can't like Daniel Bryan and CM Punk enough to watch it.

The AJ Lee character is terrible and is STILL everywhere. I was laughing when I listened to a podcast a few weeks ago and they spent the entire time ripping her to pieces and talking how bad she was. I do not know what her fans see in her, that's one of the worse cases in force feeding a fan favorite WWE has done in a while. It's so over the top.

What happened to pushing someone because they were over and talented, not just because you liked them?

Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

People mistake WWE making tons of money in recent years as a sign the product is doing good or better than the mid 90s, not true. WWE only makes more money now bc they have far more areas of generating revenue that they didnt have in the 90s. WWE has also expanded dramatically and is being seen in far more counties than before. Ratings/PPV/live attendance all indicate the business is suffering big time not to mention this roster is easily the weakest roster in history. Sure the roster mid 90s may not have been huge draws but NOBODY was a big draw mid 90s not even Hogan until NWO changed the business forever.

Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

I honestly can't relate to wrestling now from when I watched it; the Attitude Era. Obviously there are people a lot older than me that have seen more changes in wrestling, but the PG Era completely disregards its history in my eyes.

So to me the WWE is as poor as it has since I started watching in '99 compared to now seems 2 different companies / programs in my eyes.

Maybe just me though?!

Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

I think WWE has a great crop of guys coming up: Ziggler, Cesaro, Daniel Bryan. Between them and Cena and Punk, I think things will be just fine. I really think Ziggler can go down as one of the all-time greats. He's almost like a character from a moving about pro wrestling, he's so good at it. He's almost a cliche, with his similarities to Mr. Perfect and HBK, but its not a bad thing at all.

I'm also a really big Sheamus fan, but I'll concede he's not that amazing on the microphone.

I think in every generation w get a little bit cynical cuz wrestling stars are all about reputation and years of investment. Names like Shawn and Bret always sounded legendary, even as the Attitude Era surpassed them in terms of overall success. The difference with the Attitude Era was that the company, and specifically Stone Cold, was so popular that we all knew we were watching a 'golden age' at the time. Now, things are pretty much as popular as they were four years ago, and we just regret the absence of Edge/Undertaker/Batista/HHH. I love all those guys, but, with the exception of Taker, I absolutely think guys like Ziggler and Sheamus can replace them.

WWE favorites: Punk, Sheamus, Lesnar, Ambrose, Rollins, Reigns,
Del Rio, Orton, Bryan, Ziggler, Wyatt, Usos, Cesaro, Mysterio, Kane
DGPW: Doi, Yoshino, Tozawa, Yamato, Dragon Kid, BxB Hulk, Ricochet, Super Shisa
NJPW: Okada, Nakamura, Styles ROH: Briscoes, Fish and O'Reilly, Young Bucks
All-Time: Rock, Punk, Lesnar, Angle

Re: Is this the worst ever period in the WWE

WWE has become a hollowed out international circus show sprinkled with social media... designed to appeal to the lowest common denominator of intellect.
