I know WWE likes to film 20 odd shows every time they park up the van but I think the HD stage is the worst they've ever had, it just lacks character, something different is definitely. Maybe a modern take on the 98-01 Raw stage for Raw and something completely different for Smackdown.
There's nothing wrong with the HD stage, it's just the fact that WWE doesn't do anything extra ontop of that.
If they had the HD LED version of an old stage(like the shattered glass,SD Fist set) then it'd be fine. But instead, WWE just decides to have the exact same look for every single show(minus WM) with the only difference, being the color/logo.
Even on WWE13 Create an Arena feature, you can see just how cool a modernized version of WWEs old stage designs look.
Yeah, I really dislike the set. I hate the curvy mini tron at the bottom. The set being used for every show kind of sucks, though I'm sure it's much easier on the crew. It just looks too bland. Adding lights and more mini-trons around the set just makes it worse and worse. Keep It Simple, Stupid.
I think the current set is here to stay, unless we get a new one on Raw's 20th anniversary. But even then, highly unlikely seeing as how the current set was recently tweaked at Raw 1000.
Can people not understand they are cutting costs. Just like every other business worldwide!! There would be no justification to them to have unique sets for the different shows. Same goes for PPVs. Obviously it's cool for the viewer to see different sets but they do not have any effect on viewers/ppv buys so clearly there is no need for them to spend money on them!
It's not a stage that has any style to it, but it's just a stage. There are far bigger problems to worry about than something you see for a combined 5 minutes tops through a 3 hour Raw.
I'm inclined to agree. Can't stand HD stuff. I loved the Raw set that was around in like 2002 or whatever.. it was simple, yet incredible. When you saw that set, you instantly knew it was RAW. And when you saw SD, it was the same deal.
Where's the individuality? Where's the instantly recognizable stage? Gone..
Don't get me wrong, I'm not going to complain TOO much. But I do have my gripes.
This is by far the worst thread on this forum. People complaining about the awesome HD will do me. Nah lets bring back the paper mâché fist that looks first class. The days of underhround grunge rock wrestling garbage is finished. Shame on WWE for moving with the times.
The sets used to be so artistic back then. I couldn't wait to see how each set for the PPVs looked like on Sunday Night Heat back in 1999-2000. Those days are long gone, now it's just the old same set, all they got to do is switch the display to RAW > SD > Superstars > PPV etc. you get the point. I understand the money issue but that still...
I always thought changes to sets signified different eras in WWE but that's just me I guess. It gives the shows a different feel, something they could use at this point...
think the stage is great hated the last on, this one it looks epic when the rocks titantron comes on, think its just nostalgia for some of you guys, because lets be honest this stage is better than the one they used in the AE
As an old school wrestling fan I am a big fan of the first wwf raw set 93-96, then the AE one from 97-02? I really liked the first smackdown, the first WCW Nitro set was also so cool. All of these were edgey, cool and you knew that it was going to be unique as each one had there on set and feel about it.
I don't mind the set today as much as some of the others since the AE. There was a period from 03-07 where I could not bare to watch raw due to the dull lighting that wwe set up on the crowd.
I think the set of today is wwe's way of making there product look as big as possible and as much like a wrestlemania each week while saving costs at the same time.
Get rid of HD set and get red and blue tape for the ropes. Get rid of the lights on the crowd too. It is the little things that can make a product look all that much better. But at the end of the day if it stops WWE from spending then they don't care. It doesn't bother me too much but it would make it look fresh than it is.
I don't mind it much anymore but early on it really annoyed me that they used white ropes for RAW. I understand that they tape Superstars first so they don't bother but they should really be RED FOR RAW!!! lol
I called it "white rope RAW" for awhile and it just really bothered me lol
If WWE is trying to cut costs, they should get rid of these huge stages to begin with. They don't serve a purpose. Go for something smaller that actually looks appealing.
But I guess that would go against their "larger than life" mentality.
Who the fuck cares about what the set should look like? Get rid of all that big, glossy shit, minus the screen, crank down the lights after each entrance and keep the focus on the ring and ringside area. Less is more.
It just adds to the sanitized, sterile, "glossy" presentation of the show which is a huge problem that is overlooked. If they can waste $90 million on a failed campaign they can spend money to make both shows unique. Bring back the fist stage even if it's updated.
