Specialty missing from entrances

(this isn't WWE-UFC comparison thread)

Anyone else feel like even with the minitrons and all that, that WWE entrances don't feel that special in terms of difference between stars? Other than the music, most entrances are basically the same feel to it.

Watching UFC today, makes me wish WWE had entrances like this more. Not so much the coming almost through the crowd type of thing(that WWE also used to do), but just the whole feel of the entrance, with all the emotion in it, and the lighting and all that.

The second the lights go out before an entrance in UFC, then the guys music hits, it sets a completely different feel to things(especially Bensons one tonight), something that only seems to happen in WWE for maybe 2-3 guys.

I even remember playing old WWE video games(from like 5-10 years ago) and during "create an entrance" the variation in lighting for stars, was so diff. Each star had their own set of entrance light colors and all that, but today it seems like nobody has anything special.

mmm, the entrances somewhat sums up the whole product.

More entrances like Triple H and Taker. You really dont need to do that much either. Just give them a little different walk, run or whatever. Another recent wrestler that had a little funnier entrance is Hunico with his bike.
Sure, Del Rio comes in the arena with different cars, but after that, its stereotypcial walk to the ring.

1) Ziggler needs a ton of blue and yellow laser lights. Maybe a Flair robe.
2) Punk needs darker stadium lights with heavy white strobe lights.
3) Byran needs missile fire works (similar to what team 3D had) that shoot down the ramp following him every time he says YES!
4) Dean Ambrose needs a dark creepy/sadistic entrance, Undertaker meets Goldust, meets Mankind.

It's because everyone's entrances, with the exception of a few at the top of the card, are all the same just with some different generic pop rock song.

The only few unique entrances these days like Punk or Orton. Other than those few though, the only ones that stand out are the guys that have been doing their shtick for for a very long time such as HHH, Taker, Kane, etc.

I'm of the opinion that entrances can make or break a character. It's why I think Jim Johnston is one of the most, if not the most underrated person in the WWE. Imagine the characters of Stone Cold, Undertaker, The Rock, Triple H, etc. if they didn't have their iconic entrances. The list of wrestlers who have epic music goes on and on. And that influence is sorely lacking these days.

In 2008, Johnston publicly expressed his frustration to Billboard Magazine at the inability of WWE to secure better promotional deals with artists due to a lack of understanding of the WWE product. He said, ""One of my frustrations is getting the word out about just how much music is used in our product. The labels will stumble over themselves to get on MTV, but no one's watching MTV."

theres no reason why the lighting the pyro and the ring attire shouldnt be color coded for each roster member

I miss the pyro, but having too much for entrances will make the beginning of show and PPVs less special, unless they go all out for beginning pyro.
I also really liked when security used to escort them to the ring. Made them seem important and badass.
I think the pyro lessened due to budget cuts.
Really like all the themes, except for the Divas themes. Amongst them Eve has the best.

I think that even narrowing the entrance way so that it brings the fans closer to the wrestlers would make things more fun plus I would give them more seats to sell on the floor. Like the OP said they used to do this before and it really gave the crowd a connection with the wrestlers, it seemed like it was going to be a brutal war no matter who was coming down. It gave the crowd and viewers a connection with the wrestler, at least it did for me, now it’s just larger than life and from my perspective they might as well just do them while on commercial break.

It doesn’t even need all the pyros or anything that way. It’s a more aggressive approach to entering the ring. It’s too easy for a heel to simply ignore the crowd when they are so far away and they walk down the center of the ramp. I like the more in your face approach.

As many said though, the music isn’t very good either. If I was a musical artist I’d be sending the WWE my every song hoping they’d have someone they could use it for. Easy way to promote yourself and get people listening to you music.

They should turn out the lights for everybody (like they used to do during the NGE) and everybody needs special lighting to make them seem more important.

The NGE was good for lighting and setting the atmosphere.

Everybody doesn't need pyro, certain guys should have some though, however I do see that leaving it a specialty for 'Mania as a good thing. Maybe they should do the special lighting at all PPVs and leave it off for RAW & SD etc

I think their entrances are extremely important in the overall enjoyment and character buildup... I really miss when they did the amazing HHH lighting in the dark arena, for example. Simple yet effective for his character. Now the arena is so bright it looses the effect for many of them, such as Orton. Great lighting for him, but the arena is so bright its not very dynamic. DIM the damn lights WWE!

Edge and Christian had a great entrance through the crowd when they did it also with the spotlights... Degeneration X was awesome as well. So many.

But WWE appears to be making them worse and worse and less important... Sucks.
