because the wrestling scene is messed up and needs to be remedied ANYONE WHO DENIES THIS IS A COWARD!

TNA can only make progress(better network, a new wrestling war etc) with bigger ratings

WWE can only make progress(the best shows possible,tell the goldiggers on wallstreet and the soccer moms of the world that THIS IS PRO WRESTLING BITCH!! etc) by losing ratings

the closer we get to these goals the sooner we can expect things to turn around for the better

in a perfect world yes, alas....

I wouldn't say I completely don't care about ratings. They can give an interesting insight at times. For example the long term decline of ratings for wrestling since its height in 1998 is interesting as it shows where the wrestling business stands in modern day culture as well as how the WWE product has worsened from the lack of competition. But I find the over analysis over the short term to just be very tedious. When I hear people talk about quarter hour ratings, I just really couldn't give a damn. It also confuses me that some internet wrestling fans seem to care more about ratings the business side of things as opposed to the actually enjoyment of the product itself.

It became an obession during the MNW and somehow 11 years later, despite no competition, fans are still obsessed with ratings.

Ratings aren't a good indicator of whether or a show is good or not. I've seen some shitty RAWs get high ratings and then some really good ones do badly.

I'm fairly sure I'm the only that thinks this but here it goes:

I care about ratings because it's a sign of justice for me. WWE in 2012 is really awaful. Bad writing, non existent characters, constant shilling for "charities" (separate discussion: "You're not supposed to brag about giving to charity"), and really at least 10 other things.

When someone does something bad in life, whether it's robbing a bank or something of that nature, people want to see that person get in trouble and if extremely bad may follow the trial on TV to see the verdict of the criminal going to jail.

To me (and again, only speak for myself), Raw getting a low rating makes me happy because they deserve it. Just like someone watching the bank robber go to jail, it does not affect me at all, but it makes me feel good that justice prevailed.

I'm more annoyed that people blame Monday Night Football when ratings are down in 2012. NEWS FLASH: Football was NOT invented in 2012. Now, that is an argument that I will never understand.
