WWE has failed at..
Story telling. Over the past 2 or 3 months I've been completely turned off by wwe because of this. There isn't a current story that keeps me interested or gives me a reason to watch. So I don't. I DVR and skip most now. I read on here and there seems to be little buzz about anything. Viewership seems to be dropping weekly. I'm not ready to write off the WWE just yet (I guess it's the kid in me). But something needs to change. The goal of any show is to get the audience to be invested in it and to not just simply make a show.. The WWE has failed at this. What can they do? What should they do? I feel like I'm watching the slow death of the WWE...And it's painful to see

WWE is not dying.. its alive and well. No matter how shitty their product is or how worse it gets in the coming years they are in a pretty good spot and not going anywhere anytime soon.

Just because you are not entertained does not mean others aren't...

Just remember it could always get a whole hell of a lot worse

Re: WWE has failed at..
I wonder how many people used to talk about how WCW was "OK" too before they ending up being destroyed by the AOL/Time Warner merger & eventually bought up by WWE & Vince McMahon?

You can't bleed money from every corner & expect the middle to stay steady forever. Something has to give. WWE can't just keep relying on shit like merchandise sales, Wrestlemania buys, the Mattel line & the overseas market. Eventually the house show attendance, poor ratings, B-show PPV buys, etc. have to catch up to them, while they're pissing away millions of dollars on Senate runs & WWE films. All the while gaining an even worse reputation as now people are talking about their lack of benefits for their workers, which prior to Linda running, wasn't something anyone outside of the business ever talked about. And it's not like Vince McMahon is getting any younger or healthier. You can't keep making Attitude Era video games or bringing back stars from yesteryear to help your cause. Time doesn't stop.

WWE is a far fucking cry away from "alive and well."

WWE isn't dying. They survived the WBF, Diesel as a year-long champion, WCW's nWo storyline, the XFL, not to mention NUMEROUS lawsuits and both of Linda's failed campaigns. WWE isn't dying. At the rate it's going, it could survive a nuclear holocaust.

Re: WWE has failed at..
You say that as if they don't have stock holders they have to appease with profit margins, that analyze losses, a problem they didn't have to worry about in the years of the past. No company is ever "too big." WWE is still gaining money but their revenue streams are dropping rapidly & it looks like a sinking ship. They need to start plugging holes as they can't coast on Vince McMahon's verbal boardroom bullshit to an uneducated audience forever. That's just reality. They're making money. They're still financially stable. But when you're losing money in areas that used to gain massive profits and you're looking into new areas to try to make up that revenue, you're not problem free.

It's a bigger problem than either marks want to admit or accept. WWE is fucking far away from worry free. If the Mattel line goes away. They're fucked. If USA stops backing them? They're fucked. If they can't sell a Wrestlemania card due to having no names? They're fucked. These are real problems. You can't sell merch or PPV if you have no TV. If you have no TV you have no audience to cater tickets to. If the ratings continue to drop, they lose TV. It's not impossible. Even if they're still the highest rated on USA & people can blame all the excuses they want, DVR, Monday Night Football, whatever. End of the day, USA is a business too & contract negotiations aren't too far off.

I'm not saying that the WWE is problem-free. Every company has its problems.
