I don't buy into the usual theory which sees people overrated because of an untimely death such as Owen Hart but Eddie Guerrero was a very legit WWE champion and one of the best of his era. The problem Eddie Guerrero had was that Brock Lesnar left WWE straight after WrestleMania 20 whilst Kurt Angle was injured and SmackDown had it's usual rape in the draft and lost Edge so all Eddie Guerrero had left was The Undertaker, Booker T and someone in JBL who had no main event experience or even a month under his belt as that character.

Now don't get me wrong JBL went on to actually have a good reign as WWE champion and was actually a great heel mic worker but Eddie Guerrero needed to do a feud with Booker T who had at least been a main eventer before or even The Big Show whilst JBL was built up in feuds with people like Rey Mysterio and Rob Van Dam first. You can only work with what is given to you so Eddie Guerrero worked with JBL in what turned out to be a good enough feud considering JBL was thrown into a main event spot but it made his reign look weak despite having wins over Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle.

I'm going to say something unpopular, but death clouds judgment. Not just with Eddie, but with everyone. Eddie was as over as someone could nearing the end of his life, but people are now saying he was one of the greatest ever, or the greatest, and it's not sympathy or even nostalgia it's just that when someone leaves us we we tend to over rate them. Now, he was well rounded, he could play a hated heel or a loved face, he could talk, and he was a damn good wrestler, and it's a shame that WCW didn't push him or any of that talented bunch of wrestlers that traveled from ECW to WWE, but in my opinion Eddie was robbed, because I can't say he was a legend, because time was not in his favor. We only got a glimpse of what he could do in the main event, and I'm sure he would've excelled, but personally I can't say he was a legend with so much missing from a catalog.

He was one of the greatest ever. Not because he died, but by going off of his dossier. It proves it. If he was still alive today he would have only continued to add to it.

I'll put over someone who is still living and prove that it isn't a sign of overrating due to the loss: Bobby Eaton. That man is another GREAT wrestler. He might not get his due by every fan, but that doesn't matter or make it any less of a fact. Eddie deserves all the praise he gets. Death only adds to the sadness of losing him too soon. That's all.

Rep for the Bobby Eaton mention. Nobody really gives him credit for anything, likely due to him not going to WWE or being a main eventer but he was a damn good wrestler.

The same could be said for Lance Storm.

And not to start anything but it's 1 deceased wrestler who I feel was a better wrestler than Eddie and rarely gets credit and that is Chris Candido. He died way too young and never caught on in WWE, likely due to HBK & Tammy. He made his debut at the age of 14, was a former NWA Heavyweight champion and was a damn good wrestler. Totally underrated, likely because he was never big in WWE and died early.

It just seems that some times, people base Eddie's legacy on the simple fact that he died rather young, when it's clear that he never got to reach his full potential.

Lance Storm is a very talented worker, although I think the Candido mention goes a longer way since he was more well rounded as a wrestler. I had to mention Bobby Eaton too. Simply put, I've often credited him as the most underrated wrestling in the biz. Bold claim, but I really do feel it's true.

Eddie didn't quite get to reach all of his potential, but he reached some of it. Certainly didn't do him any favors to pass away during the hottest point of his career. All of the possible years as a top guy were taken away. At least he made it to top before passing. We can always be thankful of that.

There are particular talents whom will always get mentioned posthumously based solely on their work and ability. Particularly Eddie and Perfect. It's not a coincidence.

Of course he was a legit WWE Champion, and of course he would've won the WWE Championship for the Raw brand had it not been for his tragic passing. Eddie Guerrero had all the talent in the world, it was unlimited. From his full amount of charisma, to always having the crowd in the palm of his hands, to his tremendous mic-skills, to his fantastic ring work, there's no denying he's easily a total package. Not to mention, he can work a babyface and a heel role like a charm. I don't see how anyone can even consider saying he wouldn't.

I beg to differ and not because I don't feel he was good enough.

But, that saw the rise of John Cena as the main focus. I just don't feel WWE would have cut his momentum short or halt the push of Edge while the WHC lay dormant on the Smackdown brand.

It just seems to me that he would have likely been suited to chasing the WHC and feuding with Mysterio or Angle in 2006. Then, who knows. After an extended reign with that belt, maybe by 2007, he gets drafted to RAW and feuds over the WWE Title.

But, I'm not going to honestly say that he was guranteed to win the WWE Title in 2006 had he not passed.
