Agreed.

You clearly know what you are talking about. How do you think they are selected then? I must hear this.

Re: John Cena: First Ballot Hall of Famer
Of course he is. Even if the Hall of Fame wasn't the joke it currently is and was actually legit then he still would be a first ballot guy. That's a no-brainer.

Re: John Cena: First Ballot Hall of Famer
I can't stand Cena, and he is the poster boy for the decline of the industry in the last 10 years. But he is a first ballot hall of famer no doubt, just by default. The guy had a great career and hall of fame spot served to him on a silver platter. Oh well, it is what it is. He also got saddled with a shitty kids gimmick that I'm sure he is not thrilled about performing every night for the last decade, so whatever. He's done his job better than just about anyone, he deserves it.

I completely support him getting in. He has carried the WWE for years and has dedicated his whole life to the business. One of the greatest stars of the modern era.

I would imagine, like many things within the company, some things are suggested, but it's Vince McMahon making the final call. I guess, if you want to call it a one man vote to feel better, go for it.

Re: John Cena: First Ballot Hall of Famer
Notes on Cena in the HOF section from the latest WON, FWIW:
Quote:
Cena easily became a rare first ballot Hall of Famer. Cena, eligible because he turned 35 this year, pulled strong numbers among every group other than retired wrestlers. The last first ballot Hall of Famer was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson in 2007. Cena was voted in during the year that he and The Rock headlined the biggest money pro wrestling event in history at WrestleMania.
----
Cena, to me, was a no brainer. Sometimes it’s difficult to vote for someone in the middle of his career, because you don’t know the future. But if Cena doesn’t go in, then literally nobody who is active and full-time from today should get in. There are better wrestlers, but no stronger combination overall, as the face of the WWE, the dominant company, their biggest television ratings draw, their biggest merchandise seller and although the term drawing card is very different in today’s wrestling than before, whatever that entails, he is still the biggest. Even during down eras, the No. 1 guy in the business during those eras for a lengthy period of time, and the guy who defines the era, always gets in. Wrestling is not close to a popularity peak, but WWE is as healthy a wrestling company due to technological changes as any promotion has ever been with the exception of the Austin/Rock era. To me, Cena is not Austin, Rock, Hulk Hogan or Bruno Sammartino. As a wrestler, he’s not Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels, but as far as business goes, he’s the step up from the latter and a step below the former.
----
There were a number of first-timers on the ballot. Cena got in easily, he should have, as the strongest new candidate on the ballot in five years. While as only 35, Cena has been the top guy in the business for a number of years, a long enough run as the No. 1 guy to get in.
----

Over looked. Simple mistake. Being a dick is unnecessary.
