Spot Monkey hard for me to define but i would say someone who couldn't work a match a tall and can only jump off stuff or do flashy high flying moves

:lmao @ PAC and Ricochet being on the pool. They're not spot monkeys. There's a difference between being a spot monkey and incorporating spots in a believable and interesting manner to enhance the match. PAC and Ricochet do the latter. Jeff Hardy sucks in most aspects of pro wrestling other than jumping off things and have some form of weird charisma, so I'd probably vote for him.

John Morrison can work a match AND was a spot monkey too. In all honesty he should have won the title at Extreme Rules 2011, he was really over, hell they booked him over Cena in that match cause everyone wanted to see him win. Too bad for his injury.

Hmm Foley has his moments of spot monkeyness. His HIAC match against Taker always comes to mind. Talk about one of those few moments where I do in fact go "You know, maybe Flair's right. Maybe he is a glorified stuntman" But then he does stuff like his matches against Orton and Edge and I'm like "nah"

But seriously though, Hardy is the best damned spot monkey to ever step foot in the WWE. What a maniac who was clueless on how to structure a match but somehow I didn't give a fuck. He crashed into shit and that's all I could have asked for from Hardy. Jeff Hardy that is.

I'm not a big Hardy fan by any stretch but he oozes charisma in his matches and is/was one of the best sellers in the business in my view. He's never going to have a great match without spots but he can do a pretty solid one.

Also, John Morrison has developed some pretty solid psychology over the last few years so i wouldn't call him as a spot monkey just based on the fact he's got some flashy moves. Even AJ Styles has similar moves and isn't regarded as a spot monkey(helps that he's a Top 10 worker in the states)

I voted Jack Evans in the poll but that was probably just due to my own dislike of him. He isn't a horrific worker without spots.
If I could vote again I'd go with Sabu. Pretty Much his entire moveset are spots. He has found more uses for a chair than any other wrestler I know of

tbh i don't see why people see it as such a negative thing. In WWE spot monkeys get over quickly and are entertaining for the casuals, yes they need to learn how to work a match but they help making a match entertaining.

Ya , Pac and Ricochet are far from spot monkeys. Earlier in their career , yes. Their time with Dragon Gate wrestling produced two simply fantastic wrestlers.

Foley's also far from a spot monkey. Yes he's been in spotty matches and crazy memorable spots but he had some of the best psychology in the business that thrived in hardcore matches but also was very underrated as a straight up wrestler.

I don't even know would I count New Jack either? Was he a spotmonkey or just a straight up shitty wrestler who didn't have a clue what he was doing and was just plain reckless?

John Morrison is a great spot monkey. Flawless execution with some jaw dropping spots and crazy athleticism. All flash but sadly no substance. So I'll go with him.

Those who vote or say Foley need their brains checked. This is copy/paste from another place:

Foley is a legend. His work in the 90s speaks for itself. If all you remember about Foley is falling off a cage, then you obviously aren't well-versed in his work, and are just mimicking a line out of Ric Flair's book to look like you actually know something. He's great on the mic, and his early work as Mankind was genius. I remember being chilled by Mankind growing up, particularly when he was delivering promos inside of a dark basement. Then, of course, the Boiler Room Brawl with Undertaker is a classic. I don't even need to go into his ECW stuff, because that all speaks for itself. Its sad what he has become since he initially retired, because most modern fans simply know him as a sloppy, broken guy who bitches and whines all of the time. But, Cactus fucking Jack and Mankind was aces.

Is foly a spot moneky? depends, he defeintly dont rely on it, but it did get him over more then anything...

Shane is my vote, not around long but he just went above and beyoned what was needed
"Jump form this high?? nah I'll go six feet higher"

I honestly have to go with Shane McMahon. Let me explain.

Jeff Hardy is a definite spot monkey. He's taken some of the most well known bumps in WWFE history. And yet, despite that, Jeff Hardy has some actual wrestling ability behind the gigantic bumps he's taken. Its not terrific by any means, but it exists.

Shane McMahon, on the other hand...

Shane has no wrestling ability. And yet his booking in the past to take some of the craziest bumps of all time...I don't really understand the point of it. John Pollock of Review a Wai and the Fight Network brought up this point and I think there's a lot of credibility to it. Shane going through the glass all those times at King of the Ring 2001, or taking dives off the Titantron at Summerslam 2000 and Backlash 2001, those types of spots are legitimately dangerous. Yet what's the point of getting Shane over? Is Shane going on the road? Is he gonna be a top merchandise seller? Is he gonna be the focal point of major company feuds? No. Shane isn't a trained wrestler. He's not gonna do any of these things. So why do you need to give him physical credibility by making him do all of these stunts? Why couldn't you have, say, other up and coming stars, or some of the talent being brought in from other organizations, do them? That would have really helped them. As John Pollock said, at KOTR 2001, why couldn't you have had DDP come in, since they were just about to do the Invasion, and have him go 20 minutes with Kurt Angle? Think about what that would have done for DDP in terms of solidifying him as a big deal, instead of having him run from Taker all the time. Instead, they gave the glass spots and match with Kurt to Shane, and nothing really ever came of it because Shane isn't a wrestler. What substance does he have besides the spots they gave them and his hardcore brawls? His stupid looking punches? They gave Shane just about every shortcut in the book to get over, like booking him to be 50/50 with an Olympic gold medalist, and ultimately there was no point. He was literally brought in to do these giant, dangerous looking spots. That, to me, is the ultimate spot monkey.

Jeff Hardy is the GOAT in this aspect. He has so many memorable spots that I don't even dare to count.

Having memorable spots doesn't just make you a spotmonkey though, that's what I said about Foley. Hardy is a perfect example of a spotmonkey though saying that. I don't think he was good spotmonkey though as he was pretty much GOAT when it cam to botching.

I thought this was the 'best' spot monkey not who does the highest ratio of spots to matches. If we are talking about the 'best' spots then it's Foley for his bumps at HiaC
