Shawn Michaels vs. Steve Austin after WM 14
 

the build for that match and the rivalry was great but if shawn hadnt got injured do you think this fued would have continued and maybe became of the best fueds ever if it continued on up until either austins retirement ?

would it have been as big as autin vs rock ? would rock vs austin have happened or have been as big as it turned out to be if shawn was still about and sharing the main event with austin ? Tyson may have been part of a longer fued as his betrayal would have most likely been played on more ? discuss.

Austin vs HBK was awesome but hadn't HBK got injured.......?It may have been a great feud but then we wouldn't have Got much of Rock/Austin which in my opinion is greatest fued ever.

i think austin growing popularity would have made him exempt from michaels backstage bitching and politiking.... defo would have been the top two guys for the next few years along with the rock when he came through.,

Yeah mate, definetly agree with that, Vince's mindset at the time was Austin, Austin, Austin. Would have been interesting though what role Shawn would have played in the 'bigger picture'. i think he and Vince were not really speaking at the time (Russo said he acted as a middle man between Micheals and Vince in the build up to that Mania match).

Despite being about a big of a Michaels mark as is humanly possible, I think it was definitely for the best that Shawn had to leave when he did. He was at the top of his game and he and Austin had incredible chemistry (Austin himself said the two of them had all of their best matches off camera, so who knows what we would have been in store for?) but behind the scenes, HBK was a complete wreck - and a total tool. I can't help but imagine that as the feud progressed, Michaels would have done everything in his power to stay at the very top - and in the process, the magic of what Austin went on to do would have been marred slightly. Even without Shawn's inevitable politicking, they probably couldn't have topped that climax to their feud anyways - it was one of the best executed 'passing the torch' moments WWE has had, in my opinion. Austin went on to start his classic angles with Mr McMahon after HBK left anyways, and they turned out to be pretty snazzaroo...

If Shawn didn't get injured, both Rock and Triple H would have suffered. Rock would continue to be held back, and Triple H would remain as Shawn's sidekick for much longer. It would have sucked. Shawn getting injured was one of the best things that could have happened to the WWE.

its a shame really would have loved to see HBK vs rock, segments would have been epic and the matches would have been legendary

I don't think HBK's presence would have harmed things too much. I do wonder what the AE would be like if Michaels hadn't got injured. I would have enjoyed it more personally. The AE was great, but I always felt it lacked someone. I think IF HBK was there and didn't try to bury anyone, especially The Rock, it would have been beautiful. But I believe Rock and Triple H would still have risen to the top. Especially Triple H.

But, it was for the best the Shawn left when he did, because during his time away he got his life together, so ultimately it was what was best for him and probably the company as well. His politicking was the one thing that could have been very detrimental. I don't know if it was THAT big of an issue or not. I don't really care to worry about it, because Rock went on to become one of the biggest stars in wrestling during that time. And HBK came back as a better man, selflessly putting anyone and everyone over and having the most entertaining era of his career.

So it all worked out well.
