Raw 10-22-12?
HBK vs. Bret Hart WM12?
Finger Poke of Doom?
Second Coming viral video?
Chris Benoit tribute video?
Punk-Austin interview?

All of these can be unlocked in Youtube.com. To me, the site is the biggest thing to happen in wrestling since WWE buying WCW in 2001. It basically changed the landscape of pro wrestling as an entertainment function. More than just entertainment, it created a very unique discourse/community in the internet, along with forums and message boards. It's called the YWC, folks.

I've been using Youtube for almost 6 years now, and my initial use for the site when I was a kid was to view all my favorite wrestler in action with the touch of a button for free. What really got me into it was for me able to relive old matches and promos. But above all, what truly made me a smark and a greater enthusiast were the comments and the reviewers.

I might not be the only one as I can recall there was sort of a "WWE ranting era" in Youtube back in 2007-2010. Yeah, those were the days. At that same time too, we started seeing "idols", like Mike&Doug (or RVDTito4Life), Truthslayer, and of course, arguably the greatest of them all, spinnernet. These idols were not as great now as back then, but they established and sort of "marketed" the smark concept to the internet masses; thus, the smark boom was born.

Don't get me start with the comments though. Of course, most are stupid, biased and even harsh, but it seems that's the natural instinct of most wrestling fans. In fact, a large part of the Youtube community (not just the YWC) remains a mystery to me.

The YWC is such a sophisticated beast. Please come share with me about it. :)
