Re: Who had more power, Hogan or Cena?
I don't see how so many people can vote Hogan. There's a lot of factors that contribute to Cena winning this hands down.
At least when Hogan was on top, booking was good, titles had prestige, midcard was relevant, and there were other stars like Macho Man and Ultimate Warrior(who was almost on Hogan's level).
Nowadays, the show drags even using DVR, booking is straight up awful, the top title in not just the company but the WHOLE DAMN INDUSTRY isn't all that relevant, and no one matters except Cena. That's the key. NO ONE MATTERS EXCEPT CENA! The show is nothing without him, and the worst part is they plan to keep it that way. So Cena has more power.
Don't get me wrong, Hogan's is far and above Cena in terms of star power and legacy, but Cena is the end all be all of the WWE right now. They'll die without him.

I'd say Cena has more power but Hogan abused it more.

Re: Who had more power, Hogan or Cena?
Considering John Cena already has 3 loses under his belt at Wrestlemania and has put over more superstar's than Hogan would ever put over, I would say Hogan has the more political power, or atleast abused it more.
Hogan didn't job to both Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton. On one hand, Shawn was already established so it didn't do much to Shawn's career if he won or not. But imagine if Orton was able to beat Hogan, how big that would have got him.
Hell, Hogan was going to run for President because he's so good at politics.

Re: Who had more power, Hogan or Cena?
Hogan easily. I don't even see how people can say Cena. The business was much more protected back then and Hogan could of done a great deal of damage at a moment's notice by exposing every single fake thing about it. Also, if you want to take a look at the product damage Hogan did do, he left the WWF in 93 and it didn't pick up again until 98. In that time, he turned heel, turned WCW around and nearly put the WWF out of business.
Hogan all the way brother.

Re: Who had more power, Hogan or Cena?
How the fuck can anyone take Cena? Hogan is the master politician and in the ring, he rarely lost. People bitch about Cena always winning but he has taken more clean pinfalls than any other top star in WWE history (save for maybe The Rock).
And the "show only revolves around Cena" excuse is old now. Punk has taken all the TV time in the past couple of months.

Re: Who had more power, Hogan or Cena?
Hogan is the biggest politician in the industry BY FAR, so i don't know why people are saying Cena is.

Re: Who had more power, Hogan or Cena?
There's a difference between having power and using it people. We're just lucky Cena doesn't abuse his like Hogan does (except for the rare case like Alex Riley of course). But yeah, I can see how the add factor of killing kayfabe could play an important role in power.

Re: Who had more power, Hogan or Cena?
for their respective times id say hogan, cena is a big name no doubt, he can be replaced by the likes of ryback for one ppv, but eventually a bigger star is gonna be needed to replace cena, however hogan was the first of his kind, before hogan wrestling wasnt the business it is now, hogan was the pioneer per se, he was crucial and was the one who put it on the map period, imagine if he'd been offered a bigger stake than what mchmahon was offering during the 80s and jumped ship somewhere else, it may have killed all the buz that was happening in wrestling right there and then, im sure vince was doing everything he could to keep hogan happy for those 6 or 7 years or so
