Default Wrestler Years 8: Chris Jericho

Was almost forgetting about these thread. I'll be going back to older wrestlers later on, but I want to focus on wrestlers of the last decade. For this one i've gone with Chris Jericho. So what's your favorite year of Jericho.

P.S I'll be going as far back as his ECW run, but that's about it.

For me, i'll go with his initial run as Y2J in WWE from 1999-2001. For some reason I preferred him when he was still just a mid-carder still trying to achieve his goal of becoming a world champion. He was gold in this period and I enjoyed watching him rise to the world title in those years. Also I always preferred his persona back then to future personas.

Edit - I screwed up on the poll, it should just be 2012.

I like him best from his WCW days, a close second would be Y2J.

07-10 - He was genius during this period although his initial, brief face run was pretty abysmal by Chris Jericho standards.

Based on wrestling, I voted for the ECW/WCW years.

Entertainment wise, while the WCW years were gold, I'd vote the Y2J years.

But, I vote the WCW/ECW years, anyway. Some of the best wrestling of Jericho's career but overlooked because he wasn't pushed to the main event.

I loved his 2007 comeback stuff. From the cryptic 'save us' campaign to the heel turn and brilliant feud with Shawn Michaels, Jericho was the best thing in wrestling. He played that role with such credibility and malice that it brought to mind the great Jake Roberts heel run in 1991-1992.

1999-2001 Jericho first. He was so over with the fans, deserved better than the single undisputed reign he got. In any other era he'd have had multiple reigns. Pretty much everything he did was gold even the bollocks angle with Chyna.

WCW Jericho. Hilarious in entirely a different way to his Y2J character, I wish he'd bring back elements of this character although it may not suit him as much in older age.

2007 Jericho.

The last three choices in the poll (2002-2005, 2007-2010, 2011-2012) are easily his best years.

I'd say Y2J era from 99-01 were his best years. At least at that time, I was able to delude myself into thinking he would become one of the faces of the company.

I'd say he probably was from half way through 2001 until his lost the undisputed title. Great feud with The Rock over the WCW title, was involved in headlining six PPVs from Survivor Series onwards and was in the #2 match at the PPV before Survivor Series. He was arguably the #2 man on the WWF team at Survivor Series if you look how much focus was placed upon him. He got a massive pop when he won his first WCW title over of all people The Rock.

The problem was that they turned him heel instead of letting him ride his baby face popularity as undisputed champion (he was probably 1 or 2 in terms of babyfaces with The Rock). Then they just fed him to Triple H in a storyline with no redeeming features (which actually could have been great if Steph really went with Y2J instead of just treating him as a bitch) and then with the influx of WCW they depushed him massively. So stupid, he was on the cusp of genuinely cementing a place in the main event for years to come.
