Who'd have thought it.
2 years ago in the summer of 2010 we saw a debut of the Nexus, 8 (although shortly turned into 7, then 5) young upstarts made their debut on RAW and reeked havoc.
Now 7 of them remain on the roster. Personally this is surprising to me because I was certain Otunga, Slater, Gabriel and Young would be gone. Otunga even went on to become one of the most hated heels for a while when Laurinitis was around. It is also surprising to see Daniel Bryan(who was fired from the group almost instantly) and Ryback (aka Skip Sheffield) in the main event scene while Wade Barrett is still floundering between the midcard, main event and injuries. Most would have expected Barrett to be a world champ by now and Bryan to not even be in the WWE. |
Re: Who'd have thought it.
It shows that no one can predict how wrestling is gonna turn out. Not even Vince, he tries pushing Wrestler A and Wrestler B gets over. It's happened so many times before and it'll happen again.

Re: Who'd have thought it.
Actually Bryan was given the MITB breifcase in 2011 when everyone expected Barrett to win. That made the big difference.
everyone one of those Nexus guys were initially buried by Cena. |
Re: Who'd have thought it.
The guy who came last in the NXT is alreay a former world champion, while the guy who came first still hasn't acheived anything of note, other than 1 IC title reign, which was horribly booked.

It's funny to think where Ryback would be now if he hadn't suffered that injury.

Re: Who'd have thought it.
Ever wonder if this is the effect cause by 'The Summer of Punk' ?

Re: Who'd have thought it.
Me. Because while "The Nexus" was over, the individual wrestlers were not. It was a case of the angle getting over, not the people in it.
They were all boring, bland drones with no gimmik, no personality and no mic skill. When the angle died, so did their usefulness. |

Re: Who'd have thought it.
It just goes to show how they deliberately set people they don't like up to fail. Next time there's a group like this, I'm picking whoever the biggest loser is to become the success and the standout to never amount to shit.
