Steve Austin: Sheamus isn't ready yet

As one of the most respected and outspoken wrestlers of all time, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin is someone many young grapplers seek advice from on a regular basis. During one of his regular guest articles in the pages of FSM, the legendary superstar shared his opinion on current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Sheamus.

“Sheamus is a big talented dude, no doubt about it. Can he get to where the company wants him to go? That remains to be seen, and there's a lot of work required from both him and the company in order to jump to that superstar level. He's doing fine for the amount of time he's been in the business, and there is no disrespect intended, but there are so many aspects that go towards making a guy draw money with the title”, said the WWE Hall of Fame inductee.

With the subject matter at hand being Austin's opinion on World Titles, and how their importance level has never been lower, there are few better qualified to discuss being a championship-level player than the former 5-time World Champion. Also sharing his view that the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Titles should be unified as soon as possible, the host of WWE's Tough Enough clearly still keeps a keen eye on the current product.

Having missed the 'RAW 1000' celebrations in late-July, due to undergoing major knee surgery, Austin has been quizzed by fans as to whether or not he will step foot in the ring ever again. The best way to keep in touch with the man himself is to follow on Twitter - @SteveAustinBSR or check out BrokenSkullRanch.com for more updates. Please also use the hashtag #FSM.

he makes a good pint about sheamus needing to improve, but he is wrong about unifying the title the rooster is to big for only one main event title, the problem is the quality of smackdown rather than the WHC, i don't understand why they don't get rid of the vault and raw recaps and make some decent story lines, there is nothing wrong with sheamus just the quality of the show itself and it is not his fault he needs more time.

How is the roster "too big" ?

If they Unify the belts then we wouldn't have to deal with Scrubs like Sheamus, Ziggler, Miz & Barrett winning world titles.

You don't say. Sheamus is alright, yes, but definitely not 'carrying the brand' good yet. And since he's 35, I don't see him having a much brighter future than he has right now, unless he pulls off a Batista-like career.

Also sharing his view that the WWE Championship and World Heavyweight Titles should be unified as soon as possible
Even Austin thinks it would be a good idea, why hasn't this been done already?
This would give the mid-card titles more prestige along with the only World Title, and the Main Event wouldn't be so boring and repetitive in both brands; Sheamus x Del Rio and Cena x Punk for half a year for example (they are finally changing it, I know)

It would make the Main Event roster a lot more interesting and competitive I think.

The bottom line is, having two world titles meant something when there was two brands. That being Raw and Smackdown. However, even the most brain dead simpleton can ascertain that NOW, they are joined as one. There is no brand split anymore, so having two world champions is stupid. Unify the titles already.

A - Punk dosen't draw shit either. Hell, nobody besides Cena, Rocky, and Lesner draw, and they don't need titles to do so.

B - I don't think the titles should be unified. Back in 2005, the WWE and World titles were nearly equal in stature when Cena/Batista won them. Sure, HHH/Batista main evented, but Cena/JBL came right before it, as it should.

Barett/Rhodes/Zigglar/Sheamus/Orton/ADR/Bryan should all be contenders for the WHC. However, WWE doesn't know how to book anyone besides Sheamus and ADR properly. Hell, even Sheamus is booked as a midcard Champion. If WWE actually made these guys look like legitimate threats for the title, then the WHC could easily stand with the WWE title (like it did in the past when HHH/Lesner were Champions).

If the titles were unified, then what's the point of Smackdown? A midcard show? Would the WWE Champion go to both shows, and somehow feud with RAW guys on RAW and Smackdown guys on Smackdown? It wouldn't make any sense!

I think Survivor Series is WWE's opportunity to legitimize the WHC again. They should have SD beat RAW in the Rumble, and have a WWE vs WHC Champion feud (where Orton's the Champion) and have the SD Champion win in the Main Event.

The point of Smackdown would be as it was before the brand split, being that if the titles were unified it would establish the end of the brand split. An A- show spotlighting middle and lower carders and also giving extra time to the main story lines that spilled over from Raw. If you look at the pre brand split Smackdown there were also sorts of interesting top of the card stuff that spilled over onto it; random examples being tons of Rock vs Triple H stuff, Rock n Sock vs Big Show/Undertaker buried alive match etc. It was never like Thunder and now this brand split nonsense is nearly over, it's time to nail the final nail into it's coffin. It was always a stupid idea without using the WCW brand.

This really says it all (minus the grammar thing ;) ). It's very simple. These are the only two options, and I'd personally not mind either. But the current situation is not doing the product any good, and as another poster said, it must only be for the house show circuit. Though, I personally never bother thinking about attending SmackDown shows, because... THE WHC IS IRRELEVANT! But I guess business is business and all that shite.

Not every feud has to be for a title, WWE. Let's go back to the IC title and WWE title, which have been around for 30+ and 60+ years, respectively, and ditch the WCW rip-off that's been around since 2002.

Pretty much, WWE are pretty much fucked at this point in so many ways, I mean where do you begin? Sheamus has a belt which is labelled a 'World title' its so much of an after thought even if he was talented enough to become a draw, no one would or should take him serious.

you have people like me and others who have bitched about Punk's lack of credibility when it comes to main eventing RAW's and PPV's, in comparison Sheamus is far worse. the entire product needs to be hit with a massive fucking reset button, unfortunately theirs no such magic button.

Unifying the two titles should have happened long ago.

The issue though is of course while there is no longer much separation of the brands for TV, there are still separations of the brands for house shows and world tours.

CM Punk for example being champion as long as he has been may have dropped dead if he was forced to go to each brands house show and/or world tours, while also appearing on the TV shows.

That's about the only reason for 2 titles, I would think.

Unifying titles provides for more feuds for one title, but not unifying them gives others the chance to shine with their own world title. I guess nowadays even with the WHC nobody shines so i guess it wouldn't matter if they unified.

And I agree with him, Sheamus isn't ready, that much was obvious when they booed him for squashing Daniel Bryan at wrestlemania. If he was truly ready and truly over he wouldn't have gotten a lot more heat after beating Bryan.

I dont see the problem with TWO titles if they make them EQUAL NOTHING says there cant be two "top" prizes in something.

And even then they can have one be smallar then the other, have "two" majoir titles with one being higher up then the other
then have us and IC either unfied or simmlar thing.

I doubt unfiing the world titles will do anything at all helpful besides give less pepole titles.
which some may say is good, but in pratice you can push double the superstars if you have more.
