Is there anything that could kill the WWE or pro wrestling for good?

The WWE's been through a whole lot of disastrous spells over the years. Whether it was Owen Hart dying in the middle of a WWE ring, steroid controversies, early wrestler deaths, sex scandals or the infamous Benoit case, the WWE always survived. They've often been the center of controversy in the media but there's never been a push of any sorts to end professional wrestling or at-least increase benefits for performers. It seems as if the WWE have never seriously been under fire.

So, I ask you guys. Realistically, what do you think could kill the WWE or the sport of professional wrestling for good?

Saturday Morning Slam ending up being the only and main show.

Or a live murder in a match.

Is there anything that could kill the WWE? Absolutely. Themselves. In fact some would argue they're on course to do just that.

There is absolutely no way this company will be around in 10 years if they continue down the path they're on. And if it is around in 10 years, I can assure you it'll be on it's last legs.

But I wager they won't be. Honest. And it fucking pains me to say that.

What? What path?

They are churning out shows, week in week out and selling PPV's. Seems to me they should be able to run a business for years to come.

The only thing that will stop the WWE or wrestling is a worldwide event/diaster that means day to day life is stopped. If people are willing to pay to see their shows, they'll be fine and dandy.

Only if a rival promotion with a tv deal and bigger money than Vince comes along ... oh, wait ..... it'll never die, man ....

I doubt pro wrestling as a whole will ever die.

However, pro wrestling in America could die from 1 of the following reasons:

Vince McMahon puts a hit out on a wrestler, Rob Black style
WWE makes light of child molestation
Another steroid scandal occurs, bigger than the 1 in the 90s
A rape angle
If a big star from the past 15 years severs ties with the company and dishes out all the dirt

Well, a live murder on TV could probably kill the WWWE. Something like that Mass Transit inscident.

A rape angle would be horrible, but the Benoit situation is still worse than that. Unless maybe Vince is the center of that rape angle. And it has something to do with his grandkids or at least Stephanie. Yea, I think that'd put down the WWE. If Vince wants to go out with a bang, that'd be a nasty way to do it.

Make Heath Slater Undisputed Champion.

Done and done.

Nah, this would actually have the opposite effect, WWE would start to get better.
They don't care much right now because there's no believable competition, they are alone in the #1 spot.

The WWE are on the verge of killing themselves. The WWE isn't a real sport like football, basketball or hockey, it's entertainment. It's closer to sitcoms than it is to any sport. The WWE need to come up with good storylines and characters in order to stay in business, something they are not doing a good job of at the moment. Just look at their ratings and buy rates for the last 6 years, they have gone down every single year. As for pro wrestling in general, I can see it becoming less and less popular to the point where it virtually becomes non-existent. One day the biggest wrestling companies will be no bigger than the likes of ROH.

WWE might run themselves out of business in the end if they continue in the direction they are going. They fail to create stars that draw people in, more and more fans will walk away and the ratings, buyrates and merch sales reach lower and lower numbers. It's not a fantasy world where they are immune to hitting rock bottom. I mean, yeah, they have survived horrific periods like the steroid scandal back in the 90s and more recently, the Benoit tragedy, but they are not invincible. With the way they are wasting money right now on pointless shit like Linda's campaign and WWE Studios, there'll be a point where they don't make enough profit to make up for the losses.

WWE will die in 10 years because of the lack of big names. What will happen when poeple like the rock, stone cold, chris jericho, cena, cm punk are to old and can't physically come back to help them out when there in a bad place and they havn't got any stars to bring in the views. lack of entertaining talent will kill them in time. I mean who will be a big return when cm punk and cena are gone. The miz? zigler? shemus? no they won't bring in the views when they company needs them. There killing themselves slowly right now.

Brodus Clay is also now IC champ.

Hornswoggle squash match over the Rock in a loser leaves town match.

The Miz has a Billy & Chuck storyline with Cody Rhodes.

Mae Young on commentary.

...and on and on...
