2003 is such an unsung year in WWE. Really enjoyed both Raw and Smackdown back then.

The 2003 era was mostly pretty boring and stale to be honest. Wrestlemania 19 was good but that was about it. Lesnar/Angle had a good series of matches but a lot of talent was being underused and it was just Triple H stroking his own ego.

Well Vince doesn't even try with about 60 percent of the roster so they're not in a position to contribute to the quality of the show either way. If its that so many of the guys are so bad that Vince couldn't push them even if he wanted to then its his responsibility to fire them and try to find talent he can actually work with which he doesn't really do either.

Back then the roster could have pulled off a really good Smackdown vs. RAW theme since both shows had solid and well-established superstars. They've got veterans, rookies and those guys in between which were a really good mix.

Re: People say that the problem is all with the writing and the roster is amazing....

Current roster is far from amazing but isn't totally horrible. You can only be viewed a certain way based on how you're booked. Say what you want but if you took the same roster from 10 years ago, it would work today, only because your upper echelon of guys would do whatever to improve themselves. Today's roster just goes with the flow. They are putting all their trust into being booked in a good manner, which isn't happening.

Compare the current roster to any roster from the past is unfair, as the way you're booked determines the way you're perceived. The bookers took a chance on Austin, Rock, Foley and HHH. The current bookers today won't take a chance in coming up with a remotely good idea because Vince is so unstable with what he wants on his program.

Roster could be better but again, it falls on not only the bookers, but the head of the company.

What are you on about? Sure these talents don't match up that well with the past roster, but you learn to use the talent you have now and build them up as great credible stars, and that can only be done through quality writing and good booking.

The roster in 1997 was pretty weak, it was the writing that saved the wwe.

WCW 1996-1998 The best
WWF 1998-2001 The best

When WCW died...wrestling died. Was still watchable until 2006 but compared to the 90s, it still kinda sucked.

WWF/E has just declined since 2001 and its becoming more apparent.

The end.

Re: People say that the problem is all with the writing and the roster is amazing....

kind of unfair to compare because they got all those established superstars from WCW.

But anyway, the roster can be worse than shit and the writers can still manage to make the show entertaining. Its the writers that can't come up with entertaining stuff, the roster isn't even that bad. Plus Vince doesn't give everyone a chance, and they are all very limited in their promos.
