Bret Hart. he was a big hero of mine and I looked up to him because he was a person that was good to his word. Now he's just a pathetic sellout, making appearances for no real reason. I give him the comeback appearance but every appearance was absolutely unnecessary and sad.
John Cena. I loved his rap gimmick and as a young teen loved the spinner belts. However its pretty obvious why I find him intolerable now...the reason why most people do.
I still like Rey Mysterio. Ok he isn't as agile in the ring as he once was and some booking decisions have done more harm to him than good but he is a solid worker and is the most successful lucha star to date, and that warrants respect. I'm not a fangirl of him, like I used to be but I still like watching him perform. I hope he teaches Sin Cara well cause I love masked wrestlers...the aesthetics of it is great and very theatrical.
The Rock, John Cena, Batista, and Jeff Hardy. I respect Cena and Hardy, because when they want to, they can have amazing matches, but generally I don't like to watch them work because it's the same general stuff. Batista and Rock were just because they were the big things that everyone liked. I don't like The Rock at all to be honest because of how 'meh' he is with wrestling. He treats wrestling like it's a dark spot in his life, but without it he wouldn't have had the opportunity to make shitty Disney movies. Just seems a little ungrateful to me.
Was a primarily a WCW fan throughout mid-late 90's and a big fan of Nash & Hogan.
Nash - Not as much of a fan these days (although I was jumping around like a kid when he returned at RR 2011) - can see now he can't wrestle, although the man does talk a lot of sense for the most part.
Hogan - got to respect everything he's done for the business, but I just wish he'd get out and stay out of the spotlight now.
For some reason I also liked Buff Bagwell, Tank Abott & Mike Awesome, although I'm not very sure why looking back on it
Mike Awesome was a tremendous wrestler until he went to wcw during it's crazy demise and they gave him that ridiculous gimmick. I was a big fan of nash too and still am (away from the ring) Hogan I never liked and Bagwell.....I'm kinda with you on that one, there was something about him when he turned heel and was in the nwo. As a teen I quite liked his arrogance etc, hated him as a babyface in his earlier years
Jake Roberts (he was my top fave once), Vince, Jerry Lawler, Angle, Undertaker (not a popular choice here I know, but I used to love him and now he is a tired old man who needs to not come back)
John Cena - for the same reason as everyone in the last 7 pages.
Randy Orton - I used to love his "Legend Killer" gimmick, he's boring now though.
Rey Mysterio - Loved his matches but as I'm not 8 any more, it's obvious what's going to happen whenever someone conveniently falls on the middle rope.
When I was a kid the Hardy Boyz used to my favourite wrestlers. But roll forward to the present day and Matt Hardy is a fuck up and Jeff I'm just indifferent to.
Hulk Hogan is probably the best example. I still respect what Hulk was and what he achieved in professional wrestling but I'm far from his biggest fan as a person in the modern day. As a kid though he was my first favourite wrestler by default pretty much.
Razor Ramon/Scott Hall. I was such a big fan of him back then but now looking back and seeing the state of him, I really can't enjoy his matches as much as before.
