WWE.com has a poll up asking fans who would win between Austin and Punk:

Quite interesting how they brought this up on WWE.com, kind of makes me believe a match is truly going to happen soon!

They're really gonna do this, aren't they? They're dropping hints all over the place. I'm dying inside. This match cannot be allowed to happen.

I'm not sure why 19% of people think Punk would beat Austin either but whatever.

The guy who was the biggest superman of all time,the man who beat up the entire Ministry to save Stephanie,the man who beat the entire Corporation to win the title at WM15,the man who defied DX and Tyson,the guy who has 2-1 record over Rock vs The guy who is second best to Cena and as of now scared of Ryback

I'm seeing a lot of these posts, how this match "shouldn't be allowed to happen." Why not, I don't get why some of you guys wouldn't want to see this match?

Even if this match did happen Austin should/would go over. Punk is not on the level of someone that should beat Steve Austin. I still don't see what value people have in this match, Austin vs. Cena would be a much bigger draw.

CM Emo in most other eras would be a squash jobber. We're talking Jose Louis Rivera level. He wouldn't even get the chance to wrestle Stone Cold at his prime.

Same reason most don't want Hogan in the ring anymore even if they like him. Too old, broken down, and worn out. Austin's knees are made of duct tape and coat hangers these days.

Edited--never mind.

Will be interesting to see what the results of this would be. I just hate that Punk lost a significant amount of his steam from summer of 2011.
