Batista takes a shot at the Miz in MMA interview

In a recent interview with MMAJunkie.com, Batista was asked what he thought about the current state of the WWE (via Wrestling Inc).

His response was as inflammatory as it was uninhibited.

He said that he doesn't watch the WWE anymore because it's all "Real World kids who are more concerned with how their hair looks and how much baby oil they have on."

The comment is an obvious shot at current Intercontinental champion The Miz, who first got his name in the public spotlight on MTV's reality show, "The Real World: Back to New York," as well as for his appearance on the spin-off show "Real World/Road Rules Challenge."

Whilst on the show, the man then known as Mike Mizanin discussed his passion for professional wrestling and his desire to one day make it to the WWE.

It was then that he also revealed his proposed alter ego, "The Miz," to the other participants.

When eventually given a shot by the WWE, he was reportedly a victim of notorious hazing specialist John Bradshaw Layfield, who has never made a secret of his backstage torment of the youngster.

"Did I haze the Miz? Hell yes! When I started, guys were hazed, and for good reason," remarked Bradshaw Layfield in 2010 (via Wrestling News World).

But seeing as all this is in the past, the timing of Batista's comments are questionable.

Batista left the WWE in 2010 after 10 years with the company. He is now set to further his Mixed Martial Arts career, as well as his budding acting ambitions.

This may lead some to suggest that his comment is merely an attempt to build up publicity for his current projects.

I suppose that a crack at the Miz was warranted, considering Batista's ring work in the WWE was basically Miz-level.

Re: Batista takes a shot at the Miz in MMA interview

Was never a fan of Big Dave apart from that last run but he's really earned my respect by going through with the mma fight, he's done a load of interviews in the last couple weeks to sell it and he comes across genuine in all of them so i believe hes just honestly speaking his mind here, his seems relieved to be off the wwe leash. He's not launching an mma 'career', he's just living out his dreams and achieving goals, good luck to him, Im gonna watch the fight.

Also, in the footage of him training he's looking a lot more limber and dangerous than his wrestling days, if he ever does return it be cool to see him incorporate some of that, a match with Lesnar is guaranteed big money.

As opposed to what, no talent body builders who got to where they are because they worked out with Triple H?

Re: Batista takes a shot at the Miz in MMA interview

Well Miz is garbage so I can't really argue against that statement. Miz was one of the worst WWE Champions in years. Never deserved to hold the title.

I would love to see Batista make another run in WWE. I enjoyed his run in WWE.

Who is Johnny Curtis? Nobody...just the future of WWE!

This is a good point. Of all people, Batista is a guy that should recognize when someone's been able to shake off a stigma given to them by fans. The same kind of idiots that still take shots at the Miz make the same no-talent comments about Batista, despite the fact that he was incredibly valuable and capable in the ring by the end of his run. The same idiots that make Triple H workout buddy comments, as if they have any fucking clue what they're talking about.

It's sad that he can't recognize the same hard work and ability that made him a valuable piece of the product.

I am an All Time Great.
