Re: Long World Title reigns

Long World Championship reigns are generally essential when you are trying to push and promote guys who have never been fully treated like legitimate 1A main event stars before, and that is precisely what they are doing with CM Punk and Sheamus.

I tend to be in favor of long world championship reigns. Makes the dethroning of those champions at the end of their reign much more sweet/emotionally impactful, and puts over the new champion--whoever they are--much more effectively, too.

Awful. It makes matches much more predictable.

Re: Long World Title reigns

Depends on the talent. Punk can hold the title for 3 more years and I wouldn't complain but I wanted Sheamus to lose the belt the second he won it. Really depends on what they offer.

I'm gonna say no, in general I don't like them, because WWE doesn't usually pick the good talent. Punk is a strong exception, JBL was another, but the majority of title reigns from the guys who are great are relatively short and the shitty talent get the long ones, Sheamus now, Batista in 2005 and 2006, Orton in 2007 and 2008, Hogan for fucking ever, etc. Long reigns are a real bitch when the talent is boring. Not to mention, it buries all the champion's competition because he looks like the only guy that can get it done. I prefer it when it's more competitive, not to mention, shorter title reigns creates more opportunities, which they need.

We look at two movies this week! TWO! Also touching on a new Star Wars character, Suicide Squad, more Transformers, Wonder Woman, Deadpool and other things.

Re: Long World Title reigns

I don't mind long title reigns I feel it makes the belts more prestigious and creates a huge moment when the belt changes hands. However with that said they need to know when to pull the plug on a reign because you don't want to drag it on and on.

It really depends on who it is with the run, CM Punk's one bores me but that's me personaly, I have nothing against Punk but it could be more his material and opponents, but Evolution's run with Triple H from 03-0 I enjoyed verymuch.

Re: Long World Title reigns

Long title reigns are great especially when there has been a hot potato type scenario with the World titles. Also, in this day and age a long title reign is anything more than a couple of PPV's.

Punk and Sheamus have both had epic reigns at this point. Somethings gotta give.

Re: Long World Title reigns

I've loved punks reign he's made the belt mean something it's always been about the title, sheamus he just carrys the belt like a prop and flattens everyone with a brogue kick awful mic skills needs to drop the belt. So punk reign great, sheamus horribly bad but thats because he's not very talented.

Re: Long World Title reigns

I'm glad they came back. I hated the hot potato title reigns from the past couple of years.

Re: Long World Title reigns

They're only giving long world title reigns to their favorites. They wouldn't give it to the ones who aren't held in high regard. So those who want Dolph Ziggler to be world champion. Expect him to hold it for a day/month before he loses it again.

All for it, tired of titles being worthless. Titles gotta be rewards, not useless props.

No.
