The CW Network doesn’t approve of Zack Ryder’s finisher the “Rough Ryder.” On the September 22nd edition of WWE Saturday Morning Slam, Ryder used the move to defeat William Regal. The move was edited out with a cut away to the crowd on that show. This is due to the show’s rule about no moves that focus on the head or neck area.
Ryder is popular among the kids demographic and the WWE and CW Network recognize the value of him being featured on the program. WWE is still planning to have Ryder in more matches on the program but per the CW Network not wanting to violate their policy involving moves aimed at the neck, it appears that they will have to find another way to end Ryder’s matches on the show.
Overall, the CW Network is said to be happy with the Saturday Morning Slam program and have even told WWE they would like to see more wrestling matches featured on the program.
As ridiculous as this is, why did WWE have him use the move? It clearly targets the neck and head and if they've agreed to have no neck/head moves on the show than it's their own fault.
I find it funny though that Zack Ryder's weak ass Rough Ryder is bad for kids to see but Del Rio tearing someones arm up or Big Show knocking someone the fuck out would be okay. Just wondering, would Sheamus' Brogue Kick be allowed? The neck must snap back after one of those mother fuckers pretty bad.
Haven't Rey and Sin Cara worked Saturday Morning Slam? How the fuck did they manage to get around it? Their entire movesets are made up of hurricanrana's and they sure as fuck target the neck.
Crazy idea here but.....how about you just not watch it. If you don't already, why do you care? Since day 1 WWE has made it clearly this show is for little kids. Don't like it? Don't watch it. Its not hard to do.
The Transformers movies were marketed at a general audience. I watched them. I watch Raw.
Transformers Rescue Bots is a G-rated Saturday morning cartoon aimed at young kids under 10. I do not watch it. I do not watch Saturday Morning Slam.
If you don't understand why Saturday Morning Slam exists in this format or why WWE bends to the network's demands, you have a fundamental lack of understanding of business.
Maybe they'll continue to use neck moves and CW will cancel the show. WWE is hands deep in shit with their shows anyway. I can't imagine Saturday Morning Slam lasting longer than a year and honestly same goes for Main Event.
Isn't the weak move of Santino's Cobra done around the kneck/head area? Brodus Clay uses his head as a move.
I don't get how the CW Network is so worried about it. It is what you get when you agree to have a wrestling show on the channel. I guess that Orton can never do the RKO on the show. I guess Cena can never do the STF on the show. You better not let Punk use the Go to sleep either. Oh and that Brogue kick by Sheamus, that would really be banned.
Oh, look. A cavalry charge of Internet Toughguys. Sure! Let's sell the kids Saturday Morning Singapore Street Fight! If it isn't strippers and bloodbaths, it's not fit to watch, right? Why don't we add a dash of racist or homophobic humor to lighten the fare.
"Mean" Dean Ambrose coming to the CW every Saturday morning. Feuding with Hornswoggle and calling him a midget and not allowed to do anything physical to him. Faces Mr.Small Package AKA Jobbin' Danny B in the main event every week.
This is a show marketed almost exclusively towards kids. If you're watching the match for match quality that's a you problem. They're telling you from the start this is a show for kids.
Well, since it is purely a kids show as they advertise it then maybe they should change how they wrestle..maybe a list of banned moves. :lmao I guess that would make the Finger poke of doom a devastating maneuver /sarcasm.
Seriously though it's not that big of a deal. It's a kid show it should be watered down. I'm not going to expect the same amount of gore/violence from Batman the cartoon series compared to the movies series.
