Hogan was booed more than Cena leading up to his turn. 80% of the building were booing Hogan by 1996, WCW did their best to edit it out, and his merchandise sales were way down. Cena has gone from 60%+ boos to 25% boos (The 16 year old girls and 11 year old boys have endured) with strong merchandise. So it would have an impact, but it would have a financial one too so it won't happen. Yet. Bischoff and Hogan had no recourse, he had to turn heel. WWE have plenty of milking yet to go with Barney the Dinosaur.
I expect Cena the Dinosaur to remain as is especially if WWE Network launches. They'll want to push him to sell the kids side of things, cartoons and what not. But if the network fails and Linda fails at politics, theres more chance of it happening. We'll probably get a rapping Cena, they might even try to sell him as an adult-male favourite. Cena's latter career might be a tweener/anti-hero role.

If and when that happens, I won't care at all.

Re: Will John Cena be able to do a Hogan on us?
Most people years ago said Hogan never would, and they wouldn't care if he did.
He did, and those people cared.
Anyone voting no might want to think deeper on the matter.

Oh look another John Cena Heel turn thread, it’s not going to happen, let it go. He is never turning to the dark side, if anything he is already a Heel while being the top Face lol.

Re: Will John Cena be able to do a Hogan on us?
It wont be as big as Hogans turn. Cena is such a polarizing character that the heel turn will get cheered by people who hate him now, and booed by the little kids that love him now. Cena is a strange dynamic.

Anything could help freshen up his bland ass character. The closest I have been to being interested in Cena since Rock beat him was Lesnar busting his lip and then the EXCELLENT promo between him and promo on the NOC go home Raw

Who knows? Maybe it will be the biggest thing since Atttitude era or it could utterly backfire.

Cena is nowhere near on the level that Hogan was so his heel turn would not be nearly as shocking. I doubt many people would give a shit because the guy is stale as fuck with the post puberty crowd. I wouldn't give a damn about Cena if he heels it up, or even starts getting fed to Ryback in squash matches (well, maybe I'd enjoy it a couple of times). The only thing Cena will get me to pop for his is real retirement.

Hogan was never boo'd as a face on the level that Cena is. He was getting boos, but there were never threats to riot if he won. And don't forget that past his prime heel Hogan got cheered over the supposed most popular wrestler ever in The Rock. That would NEVER happen with Cena.

Re: Will John Cena be able to do a Hogan on us?
The only way John Cena can turn heel is if he imploded.
Cena is THE top guy. If he was to turn heel he'd probably be backed by everyone and would be a face to them. Theres no one big enough in the WWE for Cena to turn on and become a full blown heel. It just wouldn't happen with his following.
Sort of like Austin's heel turn in '01. He had such a huge fan support, that not even turning on the WWE itself got him heel heat. He would still get the loudest pops.
