When did the crowds die?

Hey,

It's fair to say most of the crowds nowadays lack the same mental atmosphere of the past...

I stopped watching WWE in 2002 and back the then crowds were still doing great.

When did the change start to happen? Was it when the content chilled down? Or do you think it's just the sign of the times that people just don't go "crazy" anymore?

Yes. Yes they did. They're shite now although that's probably because they're full of kids and chicks fawning over Cena.

Re: When did the crowds die?

After the first year of Wwecw, the crowds overall chilled down. There have been a few good crowds since then, aka the miami crowd after WM28.

Re: When did the crowds die?

The old school live/wild/passionate wrestling crowd(Hulkamania/nWo/MNW/AE)began to die slowly since 2007. WWE drove them away for many reasons, bland PG product, Cena as the main act, the worst roster and cast of characters in the history of the industry, UFC with Brock Lesnar as the crossover megastar in a "cool" and great alternative to the wrestling fanbase who was there for the peak periods etc. When there's a big enough attraction like Rock's return, in ring and to the industry in general, you can see them coming back to be there in that specific event. But to get them back permanently? Not even 1% chance IMO, way too late now.

Re: When did the crowds die?

When the product died.

The reason why we don't get fresh ideas and promotions rising in American Pro Wrestling is because the majority of the community is happy with the same old shit and will reject any chance of change. There is a risk in doing new things, 9 times out of 10, it leads to 50+ pages of bitching and moaning. While business gets turned into a dictatorship and more and more out of touch. Support the indies, support New Pro Wrestling.

Re: When did the crowds die?

When wifes and kids took over. Its a scary thought to wait till WWE hits a smarky area. Though, NY is the only one delivering permanentely.
