But let's remember these guys are the faces of America wrestling, guys like Antonio Inoki, Tiger Mask (1&2) had great impact in Japanese wrestling and guys like El Santo, Blue Deman, Mil Mascara laid the foundations of Lucha Libre, Whilst Bret Hart became hugely influential for Canadian wrestlers/fans.
I think that is a superb point that the discussion is about American(United States) wrestling. I think when it comes down to it the most influential wrestler of and the one that personifies the NWA territorial days is Thesz. What I consider to be modern wrestling (post 1980) has Hogan as the most influential. Hogan and Thesz might just be the two biggest key figures in the history of wrestling.

I think aside from Hogan at the top, everything else is all grey area. Hulk Hogan is the most identifiable wrestler of all-time and transcends wrestling. In the young years of modern pro wrestling, there were so many people doing things that were new at the time and you can't really pick out a single one as having the most impact.

with Hogan, he didn't do by himself...he got all the talent around him and along with Celeb for WM unlike Austin he do it by himself with limited of talent during the rise...Bret-Undertaker-Shawn(never want put spotlight on Austin at the time). Hogan work with one of megastar in the wrestling like Andre the giant? Vince sign all the talent able to pull it off...

Hogan take too much credit but still he one of biggest impact in Wrestling with AUstin-George and Thez.

Lou Thesz isn't even in the WWE HOF which is an absolute disgrace.

Gorgeous George gets too much credit from WWE. Bruno was the man but doesn't get talked about cause he hates Vince. Thats how this company works. Disgrace.

Not sure if serious...

Mike Tyson?
Bret Hart?
Vince McMahon?
The Rock?
HHH?

Stone Cold would be nothing without these guys.

Bruno is the man everything and draw but he isn't like Hogan or AUstin who turn wrestling into something and bigger than they are...i could say Bruno like Ric Flair, Rock or John Cena the face of Wrestling/WWE make money but they doesn't have that impact like Hogan/Austin did. Once Austin rise the landscape change and WWE became global brand make more money than Hogan days.

Bret? he did put over but with HHH and ROck then no, Austin already became the guy and have impact, please take a look at during the rise of Hogan and Austin.

Vince? without VInce then many guys will not exist.
