for geeks that don't know what jumping the shark is:
Quote:
Jumping the shark is an idiom created by Jon Hein that is used to describe the moment in the evolution of a television show when it begins a decline in quality that is beyond recovery. The phrase is also used to refer to a particular scene, episode or aspect of a show in which the writers use some type of "gimmick" in a desperate attempt to keep viewers' interest.
In its initial usage, it referred to the point in a television program's history when the program had outlived its freshness and viewers had begun to feel that the show's writers were out of new ideas, often after great effort was made to revive interest in the show by the writers, producers, or network.

I'd have to say when Dwayne returned. from the moment Dwayne returned the majority of the WWE's product has been god awful. WWE was peaking prior to Dwayne's return. the New Nexus angle, Alberto Del Rio's rise to the top and the STING/Undertaker speculation, but then boom the WWE got desperate for ratings. WWE brought back Dwayne in order to re-attract the least common denominator attitude era fans back to the product. since then the quality has really gone down. the entire Cena/Dwayne feud ruined the product. face it Dwayne is a shitty actor, not a wrestler. they brought him back to get some TMZ headline rather than focusing on the future.
from the god awful Fruity Pebbles and Drunk Hobbit childish insults, the shitty 20 minute promo on WM27 that got Danielson kicked off, the WM27 finish and Dwayne's god awful appreciation night featuring Pitbull and Mya. CM Punk saved the WWE briefly in July of 2011 with the Summer of Punk angle, only for Dwayne to return and ruin it all with the Awesome Truth crap. announcing that he was teaming with Cena because his twitter followers asked him to? really? boots to asses? really? couldn't come up with a better lame catchphrase than that? Dwayne continued to prove how awful he was and how he was ruining the product when fans chanted "WE WANT RYDER" over him at the Survivor Series.
Dwayne continued the WWE's downward spiral on the Road to WrestleMania. resorting to taped promos because he couldn't cut it in front of a live audience without a teleprompter, notes on his hand like that retard Sarah Palin and then the cringeworthy Dwayne concert. all of this was just terrible television, meanwhile Punk and Jericho were having a classic feud. WWE was desperate for ratings though and completely overshadowed the real talent with their desperate nostalgia act. then came the show and Dwayne completely buried John Cena. of course the next night Dwayne was nowhere to be found. the guy that lives and breathes the WWE every day of his life John Cena was there, while Dwayne was off making shitty action movies.
finally Punk stood up for himself and the entire WWE lockerroom when he laid out Dwayne on RAW 1000, but I'm afraid it's all too late. WWE jumped the shark when Dwayne Johnson returned. it's very unfortunate that the WWE has been on borrowed time since Febuary 14th 2011.
anyway what would be your jump the shark moment?
edit: people are missing the point of this thread. jumping the shark isn't just when the WWE started sucking. it's when they did a blatant publicity stunt to pop ratings rather than focusing on the future of the product.
