Default Potential in the Tag Team division

Now as we all know WWE hasn't really done anything with their Tag Team division since the had a brief reboot when they had The Hardys, The Worlds Greatest Tag Team, Cade and Murdoch, London and Kendrick and MNM all around five or six years ago. Since then the division has been a joke and has simply seen people randomly thrown together if they were not doing anything but now looking at it properly they had a hell of a lot of potential to do something special.

Right now on the roster they have Epico and Primo who are a decent tag team who have good chemistry and look like a Tag Team as well as having The Uso Brothers who are actually quite over and then i believe they are putting Tyson Kidd and Justin Gabriel together which could work. Then down in FCW they have The Rotunda Brothers of Bo Rotunda and Husky Harris, The Kings Of Wrestling who have been renamed Kassius Ohno and Antonio Cesaro and i remember hearing WWE had put Percy Watson and Titus O'Neil together a few times but could change that with Xavier Woods who was Consequences Creed in TNA.

That would mean six Tag Teams who would be genuine Tag Teams and could and should be pushed as long term Tag Teams to rebuild the division. Around this time of year we usually see WWE do their "spring cleaning" and start releasing people and this year there could be quite a few getting their releases with Ezekiel Jackson, Evan Bourne, JTG, Heath Slater, Trent Barretta, Jinder Mahal, Johnny Curtis, The Bella Twins and Alicia Fox all instantly coming to mind which would leave a lot of space on the roster.

I know Damien Sandow is debuting either next week or the week after as well as Dean Ambrose almost certain to be getting called up soon on the back of the Foley/Ambrose feud and we might see Tyler Black/Seth Rollins as well seeing as he is working dark matches on Raw and SmackDown but i would love to see Tag Team's come through as well. Over on SmackDown they have so much time to fill on a weekly basis which is why they usually put out countless segments that are pointless which could be allocated to Tag Team wrestling which has always been an important way of creating stars as Shawn Michaels, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Sting, Edge, Jeff Hardy and Owen Hart all showing.

The IWC has been talking of saving the Tag Team Division for a decade now, maybe even longer. Face it. WWE has no interest in resurrecting it or promoting it in any kind of meaningful way outside of the occasional pop for a title change.

I remember when MNM came on the scene and that was supposed to fix everything. It didn't happen. I remember when Jerishow was supposed to be the hot act that would put the tag titles back on the map. It turned out they were just holding it to drop it to DX for the pop and that was the end of it. And lastown year, everybody got all hyped about Air Boom (for some reason) and that was the sign that tag team wrestling was coming back. Even before Bourne's troubles, that hasn't really gone anywhere.

Now we are in a situation where I honestly forget who the tag champs are half the time. This thread reminded me that its Epico & Primo and I only know who they are because their valet is smoking hot. WWE has now shown to me that they have any interest in tag team wrestling, and I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for that day to come either.

Honestly, I would probably be less upset about it if they just dropped the tag titles altogether. At this point, it just feels like they have them just because they feel like they have to because they've always been there. To me, I'd rather they just scrap them and then once the WWE actually puts a plan in place to form a tag team division, they can implement it and bring them back. And if not, well, then I don't have to worry about the tag titles getting treated like a nonentity anymore.

Not sure if WWE gives a damn, they have great workers for the tag team like you said, but I have not seen them show any interest in giving them proper utilization. They have a good tag team in Dolph an Swagger, and they have only been jobbing left and right in random "how did this come about" matches.

I never saw Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger as a real tag team though as Dolph Ziggler has worked the WWE/World title match for his brand at the last two Royal Rumble PPV's and is a former World champion who is very much an upper mid card singles wrestler and Jack Swagger is also a former World champion who is very much a strong mid card wrestler when booked properly. I'd say they are an example of what is wrong with the Tag Team divison as they were thrown together simply because they have the same manager so rather than bring up someone like The Rotunda Brothers, The Kings Of Wrestling straight away or put together a team from FCW like Xavier Woods and Percy Watson they remain lazy.

It wouldn't be hard to simply bring up The Kings Of Wrestling, The Rotunda Brothers and a team of Xavier Woods and Percy Watson and have them work with The Uso Brothers and Epico and Primo and if WWE were that worried about tv time restraints they could easily do a three or four team feud like they did when they had The Hardys, Edge and Christian and The Dudley Boys. It has always been a great way of establishing someone on the main roster and as i said worked for Shawn Michaels in The Rockers, Stone Cold Steve Austin in The Hollywood Blondes, Bret Hart in The Hart Foundation and Jeff Hardy and Edge in their respective teams.
