This is just a thought that has been bouncing around in my head for a while. A while ago I read a post from someone claiming that Brock Lesnar was the most underrated big man of all time. I think Kane is probably the most underrated big man in the business. Actually one of the most underrated wrestlers full stop.
I was wondering who everyone else thinks is underrated?
Just curios more than anything else.
Apologies to moderators if this is in the wrong place.
I'm gunna 2nd this, he still gets a lot of hate based of his work in the WWE but he's proved in Japan that he is a formidable worker and can really go.
Lesnar? haha..... there was a thread about Kane in the Raw forum. Certainly by the IWC he is the most underrated wrestler i've come across, considerin he's such a great talent. Certainyl Bam bam, but vader... meh... i didnt see much of him tbf, but what i did see, he was dreadful at selling... not a fan of that, like, people would punch him and he would just walk back, thats worse than amateur... if someone hits you, you react... simple
rikishi - okay he was over as hell as part of too cool but they never gave him a face main event run, instead they stupidly made him a heel for a very short top tier push. The way he use to flip to sell a clothesline for a man of his size was incredible
I think A-Train is pretty underrated. I really liked him in his WWE run from 2002-2004 (before that I wasnt really interested in him), now in Japan he's really improved alot imo, and he is pretty succesfull over there.
Mark Henry, easily. Fucking travesty it took 15 years for him to win his first World Title. I know he had injury's and took a bit of time off for a strong man contest but still, a proven ratings draw, one of the most charismatic big men in history and a perfect monster heel look yet it took them 15 YEARS to put the belt on him.
I doubt they would have even given him the Title if it wasn't for Smackdown's star power deprived roster.
I would have to agree, and I'm not even a big fan of Mark Henry.
The fact that WWE were able to turn a irrelevant mid-card jobber into the biggest threat in the WWE, showed that Mark Henry always had the potential to play a successful monster heel character but WWE (for whatever reason) never capitalized on it.
You could say he was a monster heel in 2006, but he wasn't nearly as successful as his 2011 run. In 2011 he wen't over Vince's poster child in Randy Orton, twice, clean, at back-to-back PPV's - how many wrestles can boast of such an achievement?
I actually can't believe no one has said this, and i guess it's a testament to how truly underated he was, but Sid was one of the best faces and heels of the mid 90's. could cut one hell of a promo and looked amazing. it's a shame diesel got the push that really should have been his.
I agree with alot of these name on here, especially names like Bam Bam and Vader, so I'll go with someone who has not been mentioned and that's Luke Gallows. I think if used properly he wouldve been a good piece of the puzzle for WWE.
I'm surprised at people saying Albert. I thought I was the only one that actually liked him in the Attitude Era. The man has had some memorable moments and matches. His Intercontinental Championship matches with Kane are insanely underrated for some reason. I thought they were great for two men of that size.
Vader and Bigelow are the two most underrated IMO, as others have said before. As far as matches, I think the King Kong Bundy/Hulk Hogan steel cage match at WM2 gets overlooked a lot.
You can't make this thread without defining your definition of "big man" in the very first post.
And my vote, if we're going on height alone, is probably Sid. He wasn't a great worker and was a pretty bad promo, but the mother-fucker was always over and just had this mystique about him.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
