Re: kane vs masked kane

he looks cooler with the mask on, and when he had it on, he wasn't the huge jobber he is now

Re: kane vs masked kane

What was cooler: Darth Vader when he had his helmet on and had the deep voice with mystery and power OR the old white guy that we could see his emotion and vulnerability on his face?

That's the best analogy I can think of...

Re: kane vs masked kane

Unless you watched Kane in his prime with his mask on, watched him get unmasked and then saw what he became without the mask, it's hard to understand why it's so different.

Without his mask he loses his mystique. He loses his entire character. He was the Undertaker's younger brother who was horribly burned which destroyed his face, ruined the skin on his body and forced him to speak through a machine. He was a sociopathic monster who only wanted to cause destruction. He was liked a masked villain from a horror movie.

Now he's just a fat bald guy with a naturally ugly face. There's nothing appealing or special about him.

So it seems at Summerslam, Brock lesnar wants a piece of me... should I be afraid? I mean, the man ended the streak after all. But I've fought the odds time and time again... I will NEVER BACK DOWN and I will NEVER QUIT! At SummerSlam, if it's a fight that you want, it's a fight you gon' get! So Lesnar!!!! IF YOU WANT SOME COME GET SOME!!! You're all about eat, sleep, conquer the streak. But me, I'm all about HUSTLE LOYALTY AND RESPECT, JACK! So WWE universe, you can rest assured because the CHAMP IZ HEEEURRRR!!!

I'm guessing from your user name that you're too young to remember anything about masked Kane from 1997 - 1998.

Saying there's no difference is pretty ignorant. Yeah, same guy, but the character is absolutely different. You had a mysterious monster under the control of Paul Bearer, scarred from the flames of the fire caused by his brother, The Undertaker, coming back to seek revenge. He didn't speak, no one thought he could speak, people wanted to see the disfigured and scarred face underneath the mask.

All at the same time, he was absolutely terrifying. His debut, ripping the door off the hinges, leaving The Undertaker with a look in his eyes that we've never seen before at that time, and he easily beats him down...

Spent months making random appearances, beating down jobbers and mid-carders, even setting a guy on fire. Gave me nightmares. Just his power and mystique was incredible to watch and gave fans the fear that his lack of stability could put them in harms way.

I won't continue to go on... But yeah, how's that in any way the same as his current character?

Re: kane vs masked kane

Yeah, maybe the OP didnt see the Masked Kane's nights of destruction. There is a huge difference just like the other two guys said.

It looks awesome, plus if he goes back to it now it's just a great nostalgia moment.

Re: kane vs masked kane

(I kinda missed the Attitude Era by a hair so for better or for worse, I can't put much input on it)I first saw Kane(mask) on an old video game when my uncle always beat my ass with him, and I saw the fall of Kane so that was pretty much his peak in my eyes. I've seen when his mask was finally removed when I was around 10-ish and he went on a rampage that kinda scared me crapless (i.e. burning Good ol' Jim Ross) and soon after he defeated Chavo in under 10 seconds. Sigh...I guess i kinda missed the window on that 1

Re: kane vs masked kane

Masked Kane just had more of a monster heel feel to him. Plus it looked cool.

Re: kane vs masked kane

Masked Kane was epic. Of course he had his epic moments without his mask but most of them came just after he unmasked himself. It all kinda died down after the Shane feud if I remember correctly. People can still go "Eurgh that Kane is a monster no wonder he wore a mask" to build up his heelish-ness but it's not the same when he's not that ugly and we've seen him like that now for years. His last great stuff without the mask was against Taker when he would pick up surprising victories over him, but then we all know how that ended too. Putting the mask back on would make him much more interesting, if not only for a few months.

What I Want This Year
Cody Rhodes to win a World Title
Dolph Ziggler to win a World Title
A real feud over the WWE Tag Titles
Most importantly, good stories and great wrestling.
