Attitude error?

I've been thinking about the attitude era lately and what the WWE as become today.

From the birth of the WWWF, the good old classic mat based grappling matches to the rise of legends like Andre The Giant, The Iron Sheik, The Ultimate Warrior and Hulk Hogan to the new generation including the likes of Hbk, Stone cold, The Rock, Taker and Triple H to the present day watered down version of WWF known as WWE...
You just need to step back for a moment and look at the bigger picture and realize there will never ever be another era like the attitude era, ever.

I hear everyone complain about how, Vince and the creatives have ruined WWE by turning it PG and not giving the fans what they want, by giving larger than life pushes to over rated superstars like Cena and so on...but you know what, it's not really thier fault.
Times change and you have to change with it.
When The Rock and Austin left the WWE, they left a huge gap in the business, the 2 greatest superstars the WWE had ever seen gone, no one could ever replace them even if the WWE had tried to.

The attitude era was the peak of the WWE, and all good things must come to an end and so did the attitude era.
The Rock and Austin both roughly had the same career length, and i think it was perfect for them both.
Sure, if they were still here it would be great but the fact that they came, did it all and left for what ever reason, left us all wanting more from them.
But even if Vince managed to convince The Rock to sign a contract and Austin decided he wanted to wrestle again since he is medically cleared...you honestly think it will ever be the same as it used to be?

It wont.
You would have to go back, reverse time and do it all over again from the start to live the attitude era once more.
The conditions, timing, superstars, it was all perfect then, not anymore.
Bring back The Rock as many times as you want, the WWE will never be what it was again.
In my opinion the only reason WWE survived till today after the end of the attitude era was due to the likes of classic superstars that stood alongside Austin and Rock, like Triple H, Angle and Taker.

The only option WWE really had in the end was to go PG and find a new audience.
Trying to bring back the attiude era would just ruin the legacy it has left behind for all of us.

Let's just leave it to rest in peace and hope CM Punk takes us into a new era.

The WWF Attitude Era and the WWE Youth Movement. They might as well be two different companies. This is the hot topic of the IWC, and always will be I'm afraid.

The thing that people seem to forget was that they were young when Attitude happened. Most of you Attitude junkies were 13 when Austin was shooting beer on the Raw stage. I was 13 when Orton was kicked out of Evolution after winning the world title. Do you realize how amazing those first two years of WWE were to me? I hated Triple H. I loved Undertaker. Orton was always my second favorite. Cena was like The Rock to me. I loved how everything was. Do you think I cared whether Orton was back to the mid-card after losing his WHC? No, I wanted him to have the IC title because I thought he should have a belt and Triple H had beaten him soundly before.

It was only after I became a smark that everything started to "suck". Then by 2008 I started to pine for the days of Evolution and Ruthless Aggression.

What's the point then? You will always love the days of the past more than now. You will usually prefer the first two years you watched over today. It was attitude for you, Ruthless Aggression for me, and The Youth Movement for all those 12 years olds out there right now.

There will be another Attitude Era, even if its not named that. Things are cyclical in the entertainment industry. First you start tame, then when people tire of that you slowly get more extreme to keep them hooked. Then when the shock value wears off, you restart. Wrestling will be no different. When everyone is fully sick of PG, to the point where they stop buying tickets and merch for themselves and their kids, WWE will have to change.

The simplest example I can think of, is a show called Smallville. You know, the Superman show. That started as PG years ago. Now most episodes are TV-14, with a few PG ones sprinkled in. Doesn't stop kids in my family from being allowed to watch it, because it's known as a child-friendly show even though it's gotten more mature. WWE will be the same way eventually. They're just building that child-friendly reputation up at this point.

I love that people again and again gives PG the reason that WWE "sucks" today... Attitude Era is overrated, WWE has almost all the time been PG, but people tend to forget that part... I actually thinks that WWE is on a good run atm. They are building up youngsters, and has a couple of OKAY storylines, only problem i see is Cena's superman booking, but then again almost every top face has been booked that way.. Dare i say that Austin also was booked like that.. Oh yeah he was... I)

Austin was NOT booked as "superman". He NEVER had a long title run as a face, rarely wrestled on TV, and Vince often got the better of him. Younger wrestlers were actually pushed RIGHT in the Attitude era and the Ruthless Aggression era as well... Angle, Cena, Orton, Jericho, HHH, etc. were not thrown into the main event scene right away, nor did they do the "trade wins with other midcarders" while in the process of their big push... they were built up by having IC and US title reigns beforehand and while having their "big push" they rarely lost and when they did it was usually as a result of interference. The Attitude era had some of the best booking and writing they've ever had...

its getting more and more popular to shit on the attitude era and stuff like that. only thing attitude era did is set the bar too high with the best talents and storylines that wrestling probably wont ever match it again.

there are some good talents now, but the storylines are mostly shit, or start out with potential and go to shit.

its like, wrestling is so much shittier now, that people have to act like the attitude era wasn't so great so they can try to justify it.

Sup WWE Universe guys, you know you probably have all those 50 page discussions on topics such as:

- "WHO ELSE MISSES THE ATTITUDE ERA?!?!"
- "The Rock vs Stone Cold"
- "Does anyone else hate John Cena and his 5 moves?"
- "wat wud u do if..."
- "WILL VINCE MCMAHON BUY TNA?!?!?"
- "WHO WOULD U SIGN FROM TNA!??!"
- "Is Brock Lesnar facing Undertaker at Wrestlemania?
- "HU IS UR FAV WRASTLAR OF ALL TEH TIEMS?!"

Yeah, we've had them all, so please don't bring that shit here.
