Chris Benoit is one of the best wrestlers of all time, and fans remember that. What happened at the end of his and his family's life was an unfortunate tragedy for all three of them, not just Nancy and Daniel, and makes you wonder where things would be had doctors been able to catch the condition of his brain.

The fans never "chanted his name" in the first place, so I can't see why they suddenly would. But acknowledging him? Most certainly. They went bonkers every time HBK and Triple H used the Crossface, and Daniel Bryan's LeBell Lock brings back similar memories for them.

There may be a bunch of closed-minded people who refuse to believe that Benoit could ever be cheered for anything, but those are the same people that haven't done the research; or if they have, refuse to believe it. There are far more people who look back with respect and wish he was still around. And that majority? Yes, they have acknowledged and will continue to acknowledge Benoit.

It's like any other massive tragedy in wrestling -- Eddie Guerrero; Owen Hart. People still look back at them and remember. Benoit lost control of himself after so much brain damage and ended his and his family's lives. If that's not a tragedy, then I don't know what is.

My hope, as it has been since the details were revealed, is that this is able to transition to a point where Benoit can be put in the Hall of Fame and get the recognition he deserves.

I also don't want todays generation of young fans to act (like WWE does), like he was an average wrestler. But shiz happens I guess.

If that ever happens, there is something seriously wrong with WWE fans (chanting his name I mean).

......what?

the WWE doesn't like he's an average wrestler, they act like he doesn't exist. and lets be honest, whether you agree with that decision or not, it is an understandable one.

and most of the young fans don't act like he's an average wrestler, most of the young fans aren't even aware of Chris Benoit. this post makes no sense.

of the people that actually do know Benoit, there's only like 2% that wouldn't say he was great at what he did in the ring.

Chris Benoit was great at what he did in the ring.

That doesn't mean he should have his name chanted on live TV.

Can the fans acknowledge him? Sure. They "acknowledge" him every time someone puts on a cross face. And you couldn't help but think of him when someone pulls out a German Suplex, singular or in succession.

Will the fans ever respect him? Never. Chris Benoit will never be forgotten, but his memory will always be tainted.

I'm on about when they mentioned him in the the WWE Encyclopedia book, and he's on all the PPV histories on wwe.com, but they act like he's didn't do anything significant (in a positive way not the murder ;D) by not mentioning him, like he's not worth talking about. It's not like they've deleted him from the ppvs, Rumble histories.

Take a look at the red rep I received for this post from Gingermadman:

"Anyone who thinks what happened deserves to stain his career deserves punches in the mouth."

Wait, what? What the fuck? OF COURSE it deserves to stain his career. He didn't just kill two random people. He killed his his WIFE and SON. His son was 7 years old. He was a child. A fucking child. Some people need to get a grip. There is no denying Benoit was a great wrestler, one of the best, but none of that matters now after what he did.
