11) Eddie Guerrero (c) vs Rob Van Dam for the WWF Intercontinental Championship in a Ladder Match -WWE Raw: May 27th 2002 Edmonton, Canada

Todd Grisham calls this one of the most famous matches in Raw history. It`s also famous because a drunk Canadian with an Oilers jersey came in and pushed Eddie off the ladder and you can see it on youtube.

It`s often an underrated match as far as the Ladder Discussion goes.

Eddie Guerrero trash talks Van Dam a bit and the bout begins with a slugfest!

Eddie Guerrero irish whipped but after a back slide ducks a clothesline and then the two with chain wrestling countering each other`s waistlocks until RVD hits hits a kick and then flies to the outside and sends Eddie shoulder first into the pole.

These two had awesome matches at Backlash and Judgment Day in 02 and Eddie Guerrero was ready for a big push into a program with Austin at the time.

Eddie set up on the barricade, RVD does his taunt then drops the leg to his back. An uppercut to Eddie on the outside followed by Latino Heast reversing an irish whip to RVD into the ladder! Eddie Guerrero viciously then stomps on him! Eddie with a snapshot vertical suplex on the mat to RVD hurting his back and then Eddie dropped the ladder onto RVD down on the mat outside the ring.

Eddie Guerrero wasn`t done. He then set up the ladder vertical and continually slammed one side of it into RVD`s head and this kind of looked awkward. Eddie with right hands inside the ring and then RVD who always shoots back with unorthadox moves caught a reverse elbow by Eddie after an irish whip to the side ropes. Eddie Guerrero dropped an elbow to Van Dam`s neck and then went to the outside and grabbed RVD by the legs to injure his vertical base. Smart Psychology by the champ.

Eddie rammed RVD`s legs into the post and grabbed a chair. Eddie Guerrero then dropped it but slammed RVD`s leg into the post before grabbing the chair and smacking it hard against Van Dam`s leg. RVD down with his legs hurt looked to be out as Eddie kept stomping but Eddie Guerrero got RVD up and hit a slam to Eddie before giving him a ton of hard right`s in the corner. Eddie irish whipped by RVD though and then he monkey flipped Eddie Guerrero in the corner out of desperation as he had been on the recieving end of a ton of punishment up until now. Eddie Guerrero though didn`t let RVD maintain control for very long and then went under the ring and grabbed yet another Ladder. Eddie sat it up but RVD with a baseball slide hit Eddie Guerrero right in the face with it. RVD then flipped out of the ring on top of the ladder on top of Eddie.

All of the sudden Chris Benoit came through the crowd as he was Edmonton`s son. He gets a huge ovation but he shows security his ticket.

Benoit then walks through the crowd and back from the break Eddie rams the ladder into the head of RVD! Benoit is watching from ringside.

Eddie Guerrero then set up the Ladder in the middle of the ring with RVD on the outside looking on.

RVD met Eddie Guerrero climbing the ladder and dropkicked him off the ladder!

RVD then with high kicks to head of Eddie and then hits him with a forearm before RVD hit a back breaker followed by a rolling thunder and Edmonton pops, a rolling thunder into Eddie on top of a ladder, ouch!

Van Dam set up the ladder but Eddie met him up there and proceeded to slam RVD`s face head first into the ladder and then followed that up with a sunset flip over the ladder and powerbombing RVD hard to the canvas!

Wow, insane spot.

Eddie then went to climb the ladder and this is where the fan came in as he fell off but the action continued. They just showed a clip of Benoit looking worried. These days the WWE wouldn`t even be allowed to show BENOIT!

Eddie Guerrero then with a monkey flip off the ladder onto Van Dam which hurt both men. He should of just went for the belt, that would of been smart. Regardless Eddie Guerrero was up to his feet first and grabbed a steel chair which he smacked at RVD`s lower back a couple of times. RVD planted Eddie`s head face first into a chair in the corner and then kicked at him. RVD grabbed the chair and then dropkicked it right in Eddie`s face! Awesome.

RVD went to set up the ladder but then dropped it only to legdrop Eddie and then RVD bounced off the top buckle stomach first on top of a ladder onto Eddie Guerrero. Eddie Guerrero got up just in time to take RVD off the ladder and then he suplexed him right into the Ladder. Eddie set the ladder up in the corner. RVD irish whipped Eddie into the ladder then into another corner before attempting a monkey flip which Eddie counterered momentarily but then RVD in unqiue fashion monkey flipped Eddie inside the middle of the ring and his back hit the ladder standing up in the corner of the ring.

RVD with another rolling thunder on top of the ladder to Eddie Guerrero.

Both men going all out here!

RVD kicked at Eddie Guerrero in the corner until Eddie took the leg out of him. Both men up to there feet slowly and RVD with a Van Daminator to Eddie`s face with a chair shot. Benoit is seen clapping.

RVD then set up the ladder in the corner of the ring and went up top for the 5 star frog splash and went to hit it but Eddie at the last moment kicked the ladder over which bought him enough time to get up slowly.

Eddie Guerrero then from up top got caught by RVD and he sent him to the outside face first hitting the top of the barricade.

This bought Van Dam enough time to grab the IC Title and become the NEW IC Champion at

Benoit is applauding.

What an effort!

In the end RVD won the title but Eddie Guerrero attacked him with the ladder after the match.

Great stuff.

Underrated! Extremely violent with good wrestling and a hot crowd to boot![/b][/u]

Good enough for #15 on to begin the countdown...

10) Paul London and Brian Kendrick (c) vs William Regal and Dave Taylor vs MNM (Joey Mercury and Johnny Nitro, With/Melina) vs The Hardys (Matt and Jeff) in a Ladder match for the WWE Tag Team Championship -Armageddon 2006

Theodore Long came out and made this match what it now was, a four team Ladder match. Sounds good.

Long added two more teams and a Ladder, the fans loved it. First MNM came out with Melina.

Back when John Morrison went under the Johnny Nitro name. If I was a betting man, I'd be willing to bet Mercury regretted this decision on coming out on this night.

Fans chanted for the Hardyz and they were indeed out next.

This match begins Tornado style with action everywhere. Everyone brawling with everyone, Londrick double toss out Taylor over the top to the floor.

Both Londrick and the Hardyz eye the prize at the top and then begin battling with one another. Hardyz irishwhipped Londrick and then off the ropes London got a hurricanrauna on Jeff.

A good fast pace to start this match.

Both Hardyz send Kendrick flat on his back with a modified double leg hook suplex slamming him back first. MNM come back in the ring and clear house on the Hardyz sending them to the outside. Regal with a side suplex to London inside the ring while Taylor hit an uppercut on Kendrick.

MNM went to the entrance way and grabbed a Ladder each bringing it towards the ringside area. Hardyz met them there and the Ladders layed flat on the rampway until Jeff and Matt both brought them into the ring. Regal and Taylor kicked thenm out until Matt tossed it over the top rope into the ring. Matt dropped Nitro with a big righthand.

Matt began to use the Ladder as a weapon with sound strategy on all of the opponents inside the ring. Jeff and Matt apply a double team poetry in motion on taylor, then MNM apply the snapshot directly after as he was dominated by two sets of teams. Regal face planted into the corner and while Kendrick came after him he put the boot up to both, on the rebound Regal was then hit by a double thrust kick from Londrick to make up for it.

Kendrick dropkicked Nitro outside the ring. Inside the middle Matt sent Kendrick directly into a Ladder Jeff had planted. Jeff Hardy hit an Inziguri on Nitro and the fans applaud the non-stop action everywhere.

Great stuff. The innovative offense only gets better with time with matches like this it seems. London climbed the Ladder, Nitro springboarded off the top rope and London jumped off the Ladder as he got nobody home attempting to knock him off. Mercury using the Ladder as a weapon began clearing house.

Joey Mercury set up a Ladder in mid-ring and at the top Londrick and the Hardyz sent him forward on the Ladder over the top rope to the outside landing on his partner Nitro. Matt springboarded over the top onto both with a crossbody. London then flew over the top to the outside onto Taylor. Matt took Brian Kendrick off the top of the Ladder when he climbed.

Hardyz in good shape decided to set up a Ladder in the corner of the ring and they double-irishwhipped Brian Kendrick into the Ladder then London. They attempted a poetry in motion and Jeff splashed into the Ladder as London moved at the last second.

Brian Kendrick dropped Matt soon after, then Londrick hit a snapshot double vertical suplex to Matt Hardy as the Champion's were in control.

London set up a Ladder in mid-ring and Matt pushed him off and dropped him with a clothesline. Kendrick climbed to the top and Matt hung onto his tights and slammed him back first on the mat. Matt then hit a twist of fate to London across the ring, right after Brian Kendrick went flying back first to the mat.

Fans chanting for the Hardyz watched on as Matt hardy picked up Paul London and went for a suplex onto the Ladder set up on the middle rope. London countered and dropkicked Matt Hardy onto the Ladder. Brian Kendrick off the top rope stomped on Matt`s chest as his back snapped of the Steel Ladder, all this while London held Matt there. Great move.

Matt then elevated shoulder first into the post seemingly eliminating him.

Finally MNM come back in the ring and they take apart Londrick. Mercury drove his knee into Matt`s chest by the bottom ring rope. Mercury and Nitro put Jeff on the top rope and attempt a double superplex until Matt gets up and saves him.

Here is the spot, Jeff Hardy drove off the top rope and if you don`t get goosebumps watching this, I don`t know what to tell you.

Jeff dropped his legs on the Ladder and it shattered the face of Joey Mercury.

Blood absolutely drips everywhere.

The match continued but the focus and replays were all obviously on Joey Mercury.

You just had to respect him after that. Taylor set up a Ladder in the corner and layed it horizontal, as did Regal his partner on the opposite end of the ring. Brian Kendrick elevated up by Dave Taylor onto the Ladder in vicious fashion.

Regal sent London face first into the Ladder in the corner with a side suplex.

The bumps and action here are amazing, this is flat out violent material.

Regal went to climb but he opted not to as he wasn`t a fan of heights, Londrick back in the ring went to climb themselves but were met by the fists of Regal and Taylor.

Brian Kendrick tossed to the outside viciously by Regal through the ropes hitting the floor. Matt in the ring unloaded on Regal and Taylor and hit a neckbreaker to Taylor. Regal was then double teamed by Jeff and Matt who dropped a number of shots levelling him down. Jeff Hardy grabbed another Ladder and set it up outside the ring while Matt hit two twist of fate`s to Taylor in the ring.

Jeff Hardy climbed to the top of the Ladder outside the ring until Johnny Nitro dropkicked the Ladder over the ropes and Jeff fell of the Ladder clotheslining the top rope sternum first sending him backwards. Nitro without a partner improvising I`m sure levelled out his competition with the Ladder who stayed in front of him. Nitro with the Ladder off the top rope drove it into Regal and hitting a thrust kick to Taylor.

Nitro up high on the Ladder and Brian Kendrick attempted to get him off, he couldn`t. London dropkicked Nitro off from the corner off the top rope and Nitro fell off the Ladder.

Matt and Brian Kendrick climb to the top and engage in a slugfest, Matt pushes off Brian Kendrick. London grabbed ahold of Matt up high and slowed him down for the moment. London slammed rights to his head and with both men up high, Paul London went for a sunset flip off the Ladder and instead Matt Hardy countered it into a backbody drop off the top of the Ladder sending London crashing back first into the mat over the Ladder.

Matt was pushed off and Jeff climbs the Ladder. Nitro and Hardy who were feuding at the time battled at the top of the Ladder until Jeff Hardy hit a sunset flip to Nitro off the top!

Amazing action all throughout the contest.

Matt set up two Ladder`s and climbed both and then Taylor and Regal split the Ladders up sending Matt crashing to the bottom. Matt went after both Regal and Taylor despite then taking him off the Ladder. Taylor with revenge on Matt finally lifts him up so Regal could charge off the side ropes and hit Matt with a boot to the face.

Taylor and Regal set up both Ladders with no one there to get them off as the fans boo. All of the sudden Brian Kendrick springs up and takes of Taylor, then he meets Regal with hard right`s.

Brian Kendrick took off finally by Taylor and then he lands a clothesline. London with a running clothesline to Taylor taking him over the top to the outside.

Regal and Brian Kendrick both up high and Kendrick off the top of the Ladder hit a spinning heel kick of sorts to Regal knocking them both off the top of the Ladder crashing back first.

JBL uses on commentary the famous ``I`ve never seen anything like this in all my years...`` It`s great for sure, but you seems to push things a little far at times.

London with Brian Kendrick`s assistance on the outside was then able to grab the straps.

In the end at 20:13, Londrick retained the tag title`s.

While it`s most remembered for the Mercury bump, the match was bloody entertaining and a lot of fun. It`s a classic Ladder match that made everyone respect these teams even more then they already were.

Just tremendous stuff all around.

"Don't try this at home."

9) Triple H (with Chyna) vs The Rock (c) (with Mark Henry) in a Ladder match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship -Summerslam 1998

The Rock HAD his fans in this match. He was just getting way to entertaining to BOO now after some hillarious promo's in 1998 and despite him being cheered against Savern at KOTR 98 his cheers were most notable here in this match, especially during certain moves as I'll ellude to in this matches review.

Even still with those fans for Rock, the leader of D-X, Triple H had most of his fans still with him and that was just a testament to how popular these two individuals were and how well the feud was recieved between the two Faction leaders who were ready to step into superstardom.

This match is brilliant as a lot of ladder matches are, and takes place from the same venue the first big ladder match did with Michaels and Ramon.

Rocky stares at his IC title as it goes up to the top of MSG and Rock and Hunter look eye to eye.

What a Fanfuckingtastic rivalry this had been to this point and this is the showdown everyone was waiting for.

Triple H's brother and his band sang DX's entrance theme when Trips came out just like at WM 14.

Rock got great heat and even some cheers as said.

Like most big battles the two sqaure off in the center of the ring to start the match and it begins with a fist fight!

Rocky and Hunter slug it out in the middle of the ring and the crowd gets into it!

Hunter got the better of that exchange and wanted retribution from Rock for humiliating Chyna on Raw which was quite simply nothing short of hillarious. Hunter hit Rock with a face buster on his knee but not long after that The Rock got some shots in on Hunter in the corner. Hunter went to pedigree Rock but he back dropped Triple H to the outside.

The story here was Helmsley's knee and on Sunday Night Heat The Rock hit him a bunch of times with the IC Title to further target that knee which should come in to play during a ladder match.

Trips threw Rock into the unforgiving steel on both sides of the entrance way when Rock went to grab the ladder. Trips continued to throw The Great One into the gaurd rail and barricade. Helmsley then threw Rock back in the ring but back in Rock got pissed and threw Helmsley a right hand and then off the ropes Helmsley hit a high knee to The Rock. Trips then goes to the outside and goes to get the ladder but as he gets there The Rock hit him from behind and he went down with it and then The Rock stomped on Hunter on the outside.

Rocky then picked up the ladder and folded it together so he could carry it. Rock had the ladder in hand and set it by the ring till Triple H grabbed Rock's head and slammed it into the top of the barricade. Triple H went to throw Rock into the Ladder standing vertical against the ring apron but Rocky reviersed the irish whip and sent Hunter in hard towards the ladder as he bounced off and then caught a HARD Clothesline from Rock and he fell to the floor on the outside.

Rock then all alone with the ladder set it up in the middle of the ring. Rock took his time as Trips then climbed to the top of the turnbuckle from the outside and then dove off and hit Rock off but the ladder fell on top of Triple H.

Rock was 26 during this time and Triple H was 29. The days when these two were young.

Helmsley then picked up the ladder and hit it right into Rock. Helmsley then smacked Rock's chest with the yellow ladder hard. Ross calls it an innovative way to use the Ladder, and it SORT of was at the time anyway. Triple H began to climb one side of the ladder until Rock dragged one leg of Triple H and his right knee might of buckled as he fell off rather easy.

The Rock then took advantage of Trips's knee troubles and picked up one leg and kicked him in the groin. Rock drove an elbow into the Quad of Trips attempting to Charlie Horse the leg of Triple H. A Small "Let's Go Rocky" chant broke out followed by "Rocky Sucks" but it's not acknowledged by the commentators and Rock looks to MSG and is sort of surprised I think.

Helmsley was caught in the ladder with his bad knee and Rock used good psychology.

With aggression The Rock stomped on the ladder busting Trips's knee and then The Rock grabbed a chair on the outside of the ring area and Smacked the ladder with Helmsley's knee inside and he screamed in pain.

The Rock then grabbed Hunter's legs that were wrapped around the steel post and smacked them hard against the pole. Rock then in a very innovative spot set up The Ladder from the barricade to the top of the steps and lifted up Hunter and dropped him knee first into the Ladder. Rock then stomped on Hunter's knee.

Jim Ross said it was rather academic now as Rock slowly climbed an unstable ladder that looked a little busted itself from all the shots The Rock gave Hunter. Triple H JUST made it to take Rock off and then the ladder got pushed out of the ring.

After a pause, Helmsley made it to his feet and then sent Rock to the outside by throwing him threw the ropes. Helmsley in an attempt to get back in the match propped the ladder vertical against the barricade but Rock fought back and Rock sent Helmsley face first into the Ladder and on his way down he bouned his head off the Spanish Announce Table!

Triple H crawling because of his bad knee and Rock chased him up the MSG entrance way with the ladder but Triple H out of desperation on the floor with his good leg hit Rock with a gut shot to protect himself from a potential Ladder shot! Both men back up and Triple H threw Rock into the side and then hit a clothesline as the fans cheered but Trips remembered to sell the pain!

Helmsley then set up Rock for a PEDIGREE on the ladder but The Rock back dropped him spine first on The Ladder!

WOW!

That was a brilliant spot as Helmsley went high in the air and Rock just back dropped him and he FELL HARD on top of the Ladder.

Mark Henry threw another Ladder into the ring.

Rock went to climb the Ladder and Triple H pushed it over and Rock flew to the outside JUST after Rock had his fingertips on the IC Title that he had carred for so long.

There is 2 ladders in the ring for these two athletes who had battered each other to this point.

Helmsley with an innovative baseball slide to the face of The Rock with one of the ladder's and Rock was on the outside. Helmsley then went to the outside to get himself some more of The Rock and he sent him into the wall and Rock bladed and became busted open after he took the ladder full force into the face.

Triple H set the Ladder up in the middle of the ring with no one around but he went incredibally slow due to his bad leg and Rock got back in and pushed Triple H over and he fell as the crowd "Oooooohhh'd" as Rocky is all bloody.

Rock hammered Hunter with some right hands and he got tied up in the ropes. Rock then set the Ladder horrizontal on top of the turnbuckle and with the other Ladder set it right on the ground. Rock hit HHH with a huge DDT as the crowd became more vocal for Rocky at this point in the match.

Both Rocky and Hunter then battled it out on top of the ladder in front of Madison Sqaure Garden where Michaels and Razor did 4 years before them.

The tension grew in the building with both of them going at it up there near the IC Title!

Rock pushed Trips over and he fell face first into the horizontal ladder on top of the turnbuckle and JR screamed "CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS" as Hunter pushed Rock off on his way down.

Helmsley then beat the hell out of the ladder that was on top of The Rock with a steel chair as MSG was going nuts.

The buzz was in the air as they rumbled and cheered as the Climax was upon us. Rock then scooped up Hunter and slammed him hard AGAIN with his back on the ladder.

Rock then went for the people's elbow and that got a huge POP!

Rock delivered it to Hunter right on top of the Ladder. Huge Rocky chant after that. Helmsley then got a Rock Bottom from the Intercontinental Champion! The Rock then climbed the ladder slowly and Triple H was on the canvas floor in pain as well as him and with Rock almost at the top Triple H came from behind and grabbed at Rock. Jim Ross continued to do a fantastic job calling this match. Triple H hit The Rock with a Pedigree and the fans popped just as loud as they did for the People's elbow as they both were popular as hell. Both guys down and Henry then threw powder from the outside into Hunter's eyes. Rock slapped at Triple H as both guys climbed the ladder. HHH fell off the ladder but Chyna came in and hit a LOW BLOW! MSG exploded in the end when Hunter grabbed the belt and we have a new champion at 26:01 of the Ladder Match! This put an end to an already TERRIFIC title reign by The Rock who had the title the entire year of 1998 after many close calls, mostly from Ken Shamrock. Triple H's reign would be cut short due to injury but the place went crazy when the leader of DX won the strap!

I could go lower on the match by about 1/4* but I'll keep it at an even 4 just because of the significance for both men.

A Classic in its own right! Still talked about today as it elevated both these guys into Main Event level!

8) Syxx vs Eddie Guerrero (c) in a Ladder Match for the WCW United States Championship -WCW Souled Out January 25th, 1997

I love the fact they included this one on the Rise and Fall of WCW, it could of been on the Ladder DVD also.

There was an interesting atmosphere here. The entire ring and apron were overtook by the New World Order. Bischoff continued to put them over on commentary throughout.

Both guys were great for there size and in a Ladder match environment displayed more of there unique capablities.

Syxx the defending Champion put his title on a cord and it went up to the ceiling.

Eddie jumps Syxx and the bell rings.

Eddie Guerrero leapfrogged by Syxx but he comes off with some martial arts blows to Eddie followed by a standing spinning heel kick by Syxx to Eddie. Eddie Guerrero hit with a high kick and Syxx hit him with a nice chop on the ropes. Syxx drops righthands to Eddie and sends him to the ride. Eddie about to be hit with what looked like a reverse elbow didn't and fell to the mat asking for a break.

Eddie Guerrero hit Sxx with a european uppercut and then a headscissors. Eddie hit Syxx with a nice backbreaker as he came running at him. Syxx went for a walk and Eddie Guerrero climbed to the top and landed a high, flying crossbody to the floor.

This is Eddie Guerrero in 1997 which means he was on top of his game.

Eddie Guerrero sent Syxx by the hair back into the ring.

Eddie Guerrero then sends Syxx to the corner of the ring with a hard irishwhip and Syxx lands in the corner. Eddie charged at him but Syxx got a boot up hitting Guerrero in the chin, still Eddie charges at Syxx in the corner again and this time Syxx leaps up. Eddie still fighting at him and sets Syxx up in a sitting position. Eddie is pushed off the top by Syxx but showing agility he lands on his feet with a backflip. Syxx comes off the top with a Spinning Heel Kick to Eddie taking him down, finally. Syxx with Eddie on the mat turns him over and places him in the corner hitting a fine chop. Syxx then elevated himself up on Eddie hitting him with a thrust kick. With Eddie sitting in the corner, Syxx does a martial-arts taunt and Syxx then drops Eddie with some shots in the corner. Syxx drops from the corner of the ring and kicks at Eddie. Syxx in mid-ring drops Eddie with a righthand, Eddie came rolling off Syxx off the ropes landing on his feet. Eddie Guerrero drops Syxx out of the ring with a nice dropkick. Eddie spotted Syxx getting up on the outside and he pulls him by the hair onto the outside apron. Syxx fights back and drops Eddie Guerrero over the top rope out to the floor with a vertical suplex, Syxx showing tremendous resilience. Syxx then springboards off the side ropes and drops onto Eddie on the floor with a Senton splash.

Syxx back in control of the match taking Eddie out with a high risk move. Syxx goes towards the Ladder by the entrance stage and he grabs ahold of it. Syxx comes towards the ring with the Ladder and looks as if he can barely carry it. All of the sudden with the Ladder in hand Syxx charges at Eddie Guerrero getting up and he plants him with the running Ladder shot across the chest. This of course drops Eddie Guerrero back to the floor. Syxx sets up the Ladder nearing the ringside area. Syxx has it set up on the apron, Eddie comes crawling up on the other side and shoves it towards Syxx, Eddie drops to the floor and elevated the Ladder up into the throat region of Syxx. Eddie elevated himself over the top rope from the outside apron and dropped Syxx with a kick to the head. Fans chant for Eddie.

Guerrero used the Ladder as a weapon spinning with it, nailing Syxx on the mat any chance he got. Bischoff on commentary said this is not what the match was all about. Eddie chopped Syxx in the corner of the ring hard a few times. Guerrero then irishwhipped hard into the Ladder set up in the corner by Syxx who reversed an initial-irishwhip by Eddie.

Syxx sent Eddie Guerrero crashing and burning into the corner, the crowd then got behind Eddie some more. Syxx drops the Ladder onto Eddie laying backfirst on the mat, Syxx kicks the Ladder into Eddie a couple of times dropping the boot on top of the Ladder onto Eddie.

Syxx sent Eddie into the Ladder in the middle of the ring when Eddie came charing towards him off the side ropes, Syxx simply moved out of the way scooped Eddie up in the air and all that was left for Guerrero to do was crash and burn. Syxx set up the Ladder in the corner, to slow Eddie down he lands a standing vertical suplex on Guerrero. Both men climb the Ladder placed in the corner of the ring, Syxx headbutts Eddie off. Syxx with the advnatage leaps off the Ladder and sets it up. Syxx then goes to ride the Ladder on top of Eddie Guerrero from the corner turnbuckle. Eddie scouts this and gets up dropkicking the Lader into Syxx in the corner and this drops Syxx on his groin on the top turnbuckle. Eddie with a front facelock on Syxx and then he climbs and meets Syxx on the top.

Eddie Guerrero comes off dropping Syxx to the mat off the top with a superplex.

Eddie Guerrero getting up grabs ahold of the Ladder and sets it up in the center of the ring. Guerrero climbs and Syxx does as well slowly on the other side. Syxx lands a shot on Eddie while DiBiase cheers on Syxx on the commentary. With both men near the top, an inverted-jump sidekick by Eddie Guerrero to Syxx and this nails him off the Ladder. The high-risk move by Eddie also took it out of him as well as both men lay on the canvas with the Ladder set up in the middle of the ring. Syxx climbs one side as does Guerrero. Both men exchange right's up at the top in climatic fashion. Guerrero is knocked off the Ladder and off the ropes slingshots back into the Ladder and this sends Syxx off the Ladder crashing off into the ropes, down to the mat. Syxx down and Eddie with a chance to grab back the momentum in the Ladder match. Eddie kicks at Syxx by the Ladder. Eddie lands a stiff uppercut to Syxx in the corner and begins climbing the Ladder in the center of the ring. Syxx crawls over and just in time prevents Eddie from grabbing the belt.

Both men grab the belt at the same time and in unique fashion, this match sees both Eddie Guerrero and Syxx with a piece of the Gold tugging for it at the top of the Ladder as it seperated itself from the cord. Eddie Guerrero used it on Syxx's head and he falls off the Ladder, Eddie Guerrero is the winner. Bischoff and DiBiase don't like this very much on commentary. The fans applaud Eddie Guerrero walking to the back with his belt through the crowd.

In the end Eddy Guerrero defeated Syxx in a Ladder match to retain the WCW United States Championship at 13:48.

Nice to see this on the Rise and Fall of WCW since I feel it got neglected when the Ladder match DVD was released.

A forgotten gem.

7) Dudley Boyz (c) vs Hardy Boyz vs Edge and Christian in a Triangle Ladder Match for the World Tag Team Championship -Mania 2000

Matches like this only happened because of how successful the No Mercy 99 Ladder match was, proving more that it was an all time classic.

This one went even further in certain areas which made it excellent as well, and saved a rather lackluster Mania card where there was nothing but heel victories, and tag matches with a thong stinkface match in the middle.

All this during one of the hottest periods for Wrestling ever, at there biggest show of the year. Go figure.

Jim Ross set the bar pretty high at the beginning of the match, saying we'd see perhaps more high risk then ever before. Usually when they do things like that, it'll backfire in the company's face, but this was a paticular exception.

This match was voted the "Scariest match of the year" by Wrestling Weekly.

Jeff Hardy went under all three Ladders set up in the entrace way, obviously not supersticious.

Matt Hardy and Christian began in the ring while everyone brawled outside the ring, Christian got the better of that exchange. Edge went to work on D-Von Dudley. Action everywhere in this match that it's hard t concentrate on any two men at once.

Bubba slammed everyone and then asked who the man was? Christian pulled down Matt Hardy who climbed the ladder. Edge and Christian cornered D-Von Dudley and he began to fight back. Edge set up a Ladder in the corner and Matt threw one to the face of Bubba Ray. Jeff then leaped off Matt driving into the face of Bubba Ray.

The Ladder was used as a weapon by everybody. Matt slammed D-Von spine first on the ladder, Jeff layed on top of D-Von Dudley to keep him there and Matt flew off the top with an elbow to the sternum of D-Von Dudley on top of the Ladder. Jeff with a front facelock to Bubba into a DDT.

Jeff Hardy placed Bubba Ray on top of the Ladder and went to the top rope and hit a 450 splash which did not connect with anyone as Bubba moved out of the way. It was disturbing to here his legs crash with the Ladder.

Bubba Ray then jumped off the top landing back first on the Ladder, more "Holy Shit" chants from the crowd.

Edge in the corner dropped down with the Ladder driving it through Matt Hardy. D-Von Dudley scoop slammed Edge. D-Von dropped the Ladder on Edge in the corner and D-Von Dudley dropped a leg on top of Edge onto the Ladder. Bubba choked out Matt in the corner while Jim Ross praises the innovation from the match.

Bubba Ray Dudley then wore the Ladder on his shoulders and took out everyone in the match until Edge dropkicked him. Edge and Chrisitian double irishwhipped D-Von Dudley to the ropes and sent him face first into the Ladder placed in the corner of the ring.

Edge and Christian climbed the Ladder but D-Von Dudley tried to stop him until Edge threw him out of the ring. Christian from a Ladder in the ring jumped off from the Ladder with a crossbody to the outside on Bubba and Matt.

Jeff Hardy was on top of the Ladder now but Edge speared him from the top turnbuckle. Nice spot that they'd do better at Wrestlemania X7.

Matt with a huge powerbomb to Edge. D-Von Dudley scoop slammed Matt from the ladder to the canvas. D-Von Dudley climbed the Ladder but Christian tossed a Ladder at his back. Bubba Ray then set up a Ladder next to a fatigued Christian. Bubba set up yet another, three Ladders with Christian in the middle.

Bubba from the top grabbed Christian and performed a modified version of the 3D from the top of the Ladder.

The Hardyz pushed both ladders to the corner.

Jeff and Matt climbed to the top for some double offense.

Jeff and Matt both plunge from Ladder's onto Bubba far down on the mat.

Some nice tandem offense by the Hardyz until Edge got back in the ring and threw Jeff outside the ring onto the concrete.

Christian and D-Von Dudley climbed the top of a Ladder in the corner and Edge set one right up beside them, and began to climb it. Edge and Christian then double suplexed D-Von Dudley from the top of the Ladder to the mat. Bubba Ray on the outside got rammed into the steel steps by Matt Hardy.

More "Holy Shit" chants from all the carnage in and out of the ring, in this terrific match.

Jeff and Matt moved the Ladders and then Edge and Christian began climbing the Ladders, both teams on both sides, both challenging teams. Christian and Jeff got elevated to the mat, then Edge and Matt went off with a side russian legsweep from the top.

Bubba Ray then tried to position the Ladder to the center of the ring.

Fans chanted for Tables.

All three teams began to climb the Ladders.

Matt Hardy and Christian both got elevated to the outside of the ring and they fell on the concrete over the top rope.

Wow.

I got goosebumps as I wrote this out, re-watching that. Bubba then got knocked off and off the ropes pushed both Jeff and D-Von off the Ladders and they landed groin first on the top rope.

Christian somehow got back in the ring and he met a Ladder sandwhich by the Dudleyz.

Bubba hit the 3D on Edge as D-Von Dudley set him up. Despite being a heel team, both Dudleyz were extremely over as were there moves. Or when they went for a table which got the pop of the match.

Bubba set a table by Ross and he asks what he was doing over here, while Bubba hilariously just gives him a stare.

The Dudleyz then set up a table on top of two Ladders in the middle of the ring.

Bubba and D-Von then set up a platform but Matt and Jeff stopped them from climbing and the fans booed this. Not just because the Dudeyz were over and would soon turn babyface, but because they wanted to see a table spot.

Bubba set up another table, as did D-Von Dudley beside the two Ladders with one table still platformed on top.

Outside the ring Matt hardy got rammed face first into the steel steps by Bubba Ray. Then Bubba set up tables outside the ring. Jim Ross then watched on as Bubba had Matt hardy on top of the Spanish announce table and powerbombed him through a wooden table. Just before that D-Von Dudley went for a diving headbutt from the top of the Ladder through Jeff Hardy on the table but D-Von Dudley ended up crashing head first through the table.

Jeff then flew as he ran across the barricade but Bubba sent the Ladder right into the face of Jeff in mid-air, wow. Pretty violent, to say the least.

Bubba Ray then brought a GIANT Ladder near the entrance way. Bubba went under the ring for another table and set it up right next to the Giant Ladder.

Bubba grabbed Jeff by the hair and he dragged him towards the Ladder. Christian then rung Bubba's head with a ring bell. Jeff threw Christian into the fence by the barricade, Jim Ross calls him Matt.

Jeff rips off his shirt, and with Bubba laying on the table, Jeff climbed to the top of the Ladder.

This was the first time Jeff Hardy did an insanely high bump, and he performed a Swanton Bomb on top of Bubba Ray Dudley off the Ladder through a table. Massive "Holy Shit" chants.

Back in the ring now, Christian and Matt climbed both opposite ends of the Ladder. Matt and Christian climbed on the table. Edge crawled up from behind Matt and as he stood up Edge flipped Matt over off the table through another table on the canvas.

Ross screams "Edge and Christian! Edge and Christian! Edge and Christian!" as they both grab the straps standing on top of the platform.

So in the end Edge and Christian were the ones to gain the titles from the rafters at 22:29 winning the Triangle ladder match for the WWF Tag Team Championship.

This one was ultimately a pretty incredible achievment. They just kept pushing it to the limit and was a bright spot on Wrestlemania.

Every team after this match was at the very least, respected.

Love the Mania 2000 match it gets overshadowed by the WM 17 TLC but this is a classic in its own right.

6) Y2J Chris Jericho (c) vs "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels in a Ladder match for the World Heavyweight Championship -No Mercy 2008

Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho both have a history of amazing matches.

No one can deny this chemistry both men have together and there styles clash wonderfully.

Wrestlemania X9 saw one of the best matches in the history of Wrestling, and since then we got a quality Raw match in 2003, and a few good matches in the year 2008 between them but none better then the one at Judgment Day on the night of this event.

Will this match be better then the Judgment Day bout was the question, could they perhaps one up that one is what everyone wondered.

The stage was set, the World Title was on the line, and the match was in the Main Event of this PPV.

The only thing to set the stage better would be to add a stipulation that suited both men, A LADDER MATCH.

Chris Jericho wrestled in what I consider to be the greatest Ladder match of all time with Chris Benoit at the 2001 Royal Rumble. Shawn Michaels competed in the next best Ladder Matches as I find both of his matches with Scott Hall near five stars.

Add these ingredients together and we should get something special. You could say these two are the KINGS of the Ladder match, perhaps Edge is the only other guy as good as them.

Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho began the match as the two tied up after a staredown and everyone waited in anticipation of what was to come. Shawn started with the basics into a side headlock and then a switch into an go-behind armbar, Jericho countered with the same till Shawn hit the elbow to Jericho, ran off the ropes with a shoulder block, ducked a clothesline and went for Sweet Chin Music early but Jericho avoided it. Shawn chopped Jericho hard in the corner of the ring and irishwhipped him but as he charged to the post Shawn hit his shoulder

Y2J immediately targetted Shawn's shoulder after hitting the post with forearm shots and then Jericho hit a back suplex and then Shawn bridged out of a pinning combination on the backslide, both men to there feet and Y2J hit some right hands to HBK and clotheslined him over the top rope. Jericho then with a springboard as he kicked off the top rope and knocked HBK off the ring apron with a shoulder block in mid-air, nicely done!

The start of this match was nicely executed.

I love Jericho also toying with Shawn slapping him, until HBK came up with innovative offense as he jumped off the ladder in the entrance way onto Jericho which bought him time. Eventually Jericho got back up and irishwhipped HBK's bad shoulder into the ring post. Jericho picked up the ladder but Shawn hit a drop toehold outside the ring and Y2J landed face first into the ladder. Michaels grabebd the Ladder but Jericho grabbed him by the legs and applied the Walls of Jericho on Shawn in the entrance way.

The pace was pretty good here and I liked the two doing big moves even if it was the start of the match, it made sense, all of it. Shawn then blasted the Ladder into the face of Jericho as he walked towards the ropes where half of the ladder was planted on the ropes and Shawn pushed it down so it met Jericho's face. Back in the ring HBK set up a BIG ladder in the center of the ring.

Shawn Michaels made a first attempt to climb the Ladder and Jericho had a cut on his lower lip. Jericho looked at Shawn in disgust and picked him up on his shoulders, that's a nice way of taking your opponent off the ladder!

Shawn obvioussly didn't like being on his shoulders so he turned around and started throwing shots at Chris Jericho. Shawn with a sunset flip but Jericho reversed it into a Walls of Jericho attempt but he ended up catapolting Shawn onto the Ladder and he landed! Shawn landed on the ladder and climbed until Jericho knocked Shawn Michaels off the Ladder with a desperate push and the Ladder fell over. A bloodied Jericho picked up the HUGE Ladder and rammed it into the ribs of Michaels. Jericho then slammed the Ladder on the lower back of Shawn, which we all know is in bad shape.

Jericho grabbed another Ladder and placed it in the corner of the ring. Jericho hit Shawn with some brutal shots and went to irishwhip Shawn into the corner of the ladder but it was reversed and he ended up throwing Shawn into the corner where he'd do the usual flip upside down and back up.

One spot in paticular here is great. I love how it was done.

What happened here was Shawn threw Jericho into the Ladder in the corner after he was going for the running bulldog and Jericho hooked his leg inside the ladder and held on. Shawn then threw the Ladder back to the canvas and it applied pressure on Jericho's leg. Shawn then lifted up Jericho's bad left leg and dropped it onto the ladder that was placed horizontal in the corner of the ring.

Great psychology by the challenger here because if you take the leg out of Jericho he can't climb the ladder.

Shawn followed it up with a figure four to the injured knee.

Jericho does something absolutely awesome here.

With his GOOD LEG Jericho kicks the ladder placed horizontal on the ropes and it hit Shawn right in the face. Great stuff. Jericho planted Shawn with the Ladder in the face again as he limped up to his feet. Shawn had an injured back and face, and Jericho with a bad leg limped around throwing Ladder's around. Jericho had the goal of not only winning but ending Shawn's career and you could really feel that here which is why this is so great.

Shawn was placed in the middle off the Ladder. Shawn's head was smacked with the top of the Ladder as his head was inbetween the top and bottom of the weapon and that looked brtual, again this was nicely executed by both men.

Solid material throughout the match. Jericho made HIS first attempt climbing the Ladder but then the injured knee slowed him down and Michaels was able to push him off but just barely. Jericho landed on his feet and then kicked at Shawn and then placed the Ladder horizontal in the corner of the ring. Jericho hit a right hand to Shawn Michaels in the corner of the ring and was about to send him face first into the Ladder, but as he was sending him into the Ladder, Chris Jericho was thrown onto the Ladder and him and the Ladder went outside the ring together!

The tension built as Shawn was alone in the ring with a Ladder but he instead tossed it over the top onto Jericho on the outside because he ALSO was dedicated to destroying his opponent rather then winning the gold. It seemed that was Michaels first choice, to hurt Jericho over taking the gold which proved how much hatred there was in the feud, it seemd like the World title was merely for bragging rights from HBK's standpoint, where as for Jericho it was his life.

Micheal Cole was strangely quiet during this bout which about its only flaw.

Shawn set up a Ladder outside the ring now. Michaels with a small Ladder hit the back of the Champion three times!

Shawn then removed the TV monitor's which got a good pop as those spots always tend to. Shawn threw Jericho on top of the table and pounded on his back and then with him placed Shawn climbed the Ladder. Shawn Michaels went for a big spot here but Jericho started to get up. Jericho delivered a shot to Michaels sore back and then from the top of the Ladder Jericho went for a back suplex but Shawn sort of reversed it in mid-air landing on Jericho with a crossbody and both guys go through the table!

One of those good spots in Ladder matches! Did the damage to both men here as they were both down.

Shawn Michaels realistically should be the first person up after that exchange and he was as Michaels with a sore back crawled towards the ring. Jericho slowly got up by the broken table. Shawn Michaels placed a Ladder in the corner of the ring and Shawn climbed up and Jericho dropkicked him. Jericho climbed the Ladder and remembered to sell the leg. Jericho from up high in the corner had Shawn on the other side of a ladder and tried a Superplex off of a Ladder. Shawn though simply pushed Jericho backwards face first while he held the Ladder.

Chris did place the Ladder on him which isn't the best thing for the camera's to show us. In a way you might say he was trying to hurt Shawn with it if he landed on it and that's exactly what happened as he dropped the elbow, King wonders what Michaels was thinking. Shawn feeling beaten in the corner sdtomped on the canvas slowly and Jericho held up a Ladder. While Shawn went for Sweet Chin music, Jericho hit Shawn face first with the Ladder. Jericho has chipped a tooth in this match to boot.

Jericho hit a Lionsault on the Steel Ladder onto the ribs of Jericho. Chris looked vicious as he has ever looked and grabbed a Giant Ladder. Jericho set it up over Shawn which pinned him down. Jericho went to climb to the top but Michaels held his leg and then Y2J escaped to the top. All of the sudden Shawn from under the Ladder kicked Jericho off the top of the Giant Ladder all the way to the outside of the ring landing on the mat on top of concrete. He did a flip upon landing, but it had to hurt his already hurt leg. Apparently the WWE Universe is rooting Shawn on here but yeah, he did get chants.

Shawn set up the Ladder in the middle of the ring. Shawn went to grab the gold and Jericho crawled with all he had and pushed Shawn off the Ladder into the ropes and he fell backwards with his legs holding onto the middle ropes. Jericho set up the Ladder in the middle of the ring again. Jericho was barely able to climb ovcioussly and King pointed that out wisely. A race to the top!

Jericho and Michaels both on top, great spot!

Jericho's buddy Lance Cade came in the ring and he tried to get Shawn off the Ladder, eventually he did and he got a Sweet Chin Music.

Shawn climbed to the top and both men grabbed onto the title.

Shawn Michaels and Jericho traded blows while they both held onto one half of the title.

An original climax here.

This is dramatic excellence.

Jericho ended up pushing Shawn off with a headbutt.

In the end Jericho climbed the ladder and got the belt at 22:20 after he pushed Shawn off and got the belt.

What a war!

This was an awesome match here. One of the better Ladder matches I've ever seen.

I really liked the beginning, the middle spot consisted of some great spots with the Ladder inside the ring and of course the big table bump. I liked the Jericho bump and this was more then just a spotfest due to the psychology by both men in the match. They also played to there feud with certain injuries which was logical.

Taking into account all things this was fantastic from the start. A great way to end the show.

A match to be remembered.

5) Chris Benoit vs Jeff Jarrett -Starrcade 99

I can understand why this match didn't make the wcw DVD's but to leave it off the Ladder DVD before the Benoit ban is questionable.

Bias from the company in my estimation as this was indeed one of the greatest ever.

Jarrett doesen't have many great matches but Benoit could carry a broom stick.

This is a forgotten classic that's unfortunately going to be rare to find for years to come.

Jericho- Benoit at the Royal Rumble is my favorite ladder match. I cringe every time Benoit dives right into a chair shot.

Kid, this a fucking wrestling forum where we discuss fucking wrestling. If you dont have anything worth saying, then i'll let my good pal Ari Gold give you some advice:

Liking the list so far, i am really expecting Jericho/Benoit as No1. That match was just breathtaking. Sick spots (which didnt exactly do Benoit any favours in the long run), great psychology, real hatred, and some true innovation.

Shawn vs Ramon was brilliant for its time, and Shawn set the bar for what a ladder match should be, but time has not been very kind to the classic. Still damn good. Should be No.2.

4) Terri Invitational Tournament Final: Tag Team Ladder Match- The New Brood (Matt and Jeff Hardy) (With Gangrel) vs Edge and Christian - WWF No Mercy October 17th, 1999

This is an all-time classic for how innovative and revolutionairy it was.

Remember when Terri was hot, well here`s a reminder.

She was one of the man ingredients the winner would get, Lawler had hilarious commentary throughout the match but that's to be expected as it was the late 90's.

These two teams before getting fully over with the audience were involved in a ton of matches before this final match in the mini-series here. It was Fifth and Deciding match in THE FINALS of the Terri Invitational Tournament or simply TIT.

Matt looks insanely young.

I watched this one live (or the day after) and it was epic.

Both teams begin the match by pushing each other down and then brawl on the outside as Edge and Christian went for the ladders in the first tag team ladder match in history.

No one expected this match to steal the show and I think that's the main reason it did.

Edge and Christian with great double team moves into both Hardyz who were placed in the corner and then The Hardyz stomped on both Edge and Christian. Tons of tandem moves by Matt and Jeff in the ring since you didn't need to tag in a match like this obvioussly, just like you wouldn't need to in a TLC.

Gangrel went to grab a ladder but he was thrown out of the match.

Edge flipped Jeff over the top rope and then Matt Clotheslined Edge to the outside and hit him with a lot of impact on the outside, then Christian with hang time from the top onto Matt.

The first time the Ladder was set up in the middle of the ring by Christian, but both teams knocked each other off. Edge went to climb the ladder but Matt Hardy pushed him down and he fell back with the ladder on top of him. Christian used the Ladder as a weapon on Matt and then cornered Jeff with it after they fought for it. Christian hit Jeff with a drop kick into the Ladder and the "Oooh's and Ahhh's" were out in Cleveland.

Edge went diving for Matt and he moved and he went head first into the Ladder.

Jeff then went to climb for the bag in mid-rin but Christian came up and hit his reverse DDT from the top of the ladder and that got a standing ovation. See, before TLC's high risk moves were appreciated much more. Matt then climbed up behind Christian and hit a back body drop from the top of the ladder to the mat which must of hurt. Edge then cauvght Matt from the top of the ladder and hit a powerbomb, which must of hurt even more. Edge then climbed the Ladder and Jeff from the top rope caught him with a missile dropkick that took HIM OFF!

Chaos.

Hardyz stomped on Edge and Christian while Jeff layed the ladder flat on the mat, then Matt slammed Edge on the ladder and Jeff hit the Senton Bomb onto Edge. Matt then set up the Ladder in the corner and both Hardyz sent Christian to the turnbuckle and against the Ladder! Matt then held the ladder on one side with Jeff on the other and the two rammed it into the head of Christian as some of the fans were clearly going for The Hardyz. Big impact with every move.

A Ladder set up in the corner and Jeff with a leap drog over the top of the ladder and hit a leg drop onto Christian and the fans rose to there feet. This is getting really good.

REALLY GOOD, REALLY FAST.

Just goes to show you how much this was appreciated even more at the time. Matt with a slam from the top rope onto Christian which also hurt him. Edge then hit Matt with a Ladder and then he took Jeff off the top with a 2nd Ladder. Edge then just threw a Ladder into Matt's face.

Edge catapolted Jeff into Matt who was behind a Ladder in the corner so they both hit one. Nice spot.

Edge climbed but Matt threw a Ladder right into Edge's Kidney's. Matt and Jeff with both of one side of the Ladder went for Edge, he ducked, then Christian with a cross-body hitting the Hardyz down with a ladder but at the same time it hurt him. Edge then hitting Matt in the corner in the groin section with a Ladder, before both of them baseball slid into the ladder into his Groin!

Then a Sandwich to Jeff by Edge and Christian. Amazing.

Jeff now placed back first on one edge of the Ladder while Edge and Christian slammed him 6 times and then sacrificed Christian to land on top of him on top of the ladder.

All four men hurting and Matt sent to the outside by Edge. What a match.

Jeff hurt some more by some double team offense by both E and C.

Edge with a huge slam to the mat to Jeff Hardy.

The crowd appreciating this stuff as Jeff landed head first to the canvas.

Edge then climbed to the top and Matt caught him and both guys were both at he top and Matt hit a neck braker from the top of a ladder to Edge. The fans in the front rows were applauding after every big spot and the thing that makes this match better then some is the fact it wasn't just spots, the wrestling and creativity was unbelievable. Completely enthralling and brilliantly creative!

Christian and Jeff then climbed to the top and Christian with a hip toss from the top of a ladder down to the canvas and the crowd is going nuts while Edge throws Matt out of the ring with a Ladder shot to the head and Christian then set Jeff up high in the corner while Edge grabbed a ladder set it horizontal on top of another Ladder. Christian and Edge went for an amazing double team move but Jeff flew off the tope and used the Ladder as a See Saw which caught both Matt and Christian RIGHT in the heads.

The fans are giving this a standing ovation. You really need to appreciate the creativity rather then the SHOCK and OMG factors of most TLC matches. That's why this was so innovative and creative. King says he's sore from watching this.

Lawler hillarious saying he doesen't know if either team can capitalize on Terri's services tonight, or for a week.

BOTH TEAMS then on top of the Ladder's and they both go flying to the sides of the ring to the outside and the fans continue to give this wreck/magnificent match a standing ovation.

Edge and Jeff set both Ladder's in the middle of the ring.

Edge in arms reach of the money as both teams on two ladders, all four up there again and brawling on the top of the ladder, Matt falls off and pushes them all off. Jeff then at the top of the Ladder all on his own goes for it and grabs it to win the match. The Hardyz have done it.

In the end The Hardyz won the match at 16:30.

To compare this to TLC matches just isn't fair. Those rely on SPOTS where this is just flat out creative wrestling, creative double team moves, spot after spot and not in a huge way but in a way where every move consits of great, great stuff.

The match that not only built a reputation for four men but perhaps built a reputation in these types of matches.

I knew watching it live it was something very special.

The true definition of a breakthrough performance, and an incredibally innovative modern day Classic.

3) "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels (c) vs "The Bad Guy" Razor Ramon in a Ladder Match for the WWF Intercontinental Championship -Summerslam 1995

Razor and Shawn get things going quickly from the get go and the feeling out process is even entertaining and we`re in for a good one! Razor went for the Razor`s edge early and when Shawn went for The Bad Guy`s arm he reversed the tide and went for Shawn`s, until HBK countered that and went to throw Razor into the turnbuckle after a few blows, but then Razor countered THAT and threw him hard into the buckle and he flipped over to the floor. The Counters made these matches fun to watch. Not just the counters but the rivalry, the chemistry and how they blended off each other was so wonderful. Razor beat on Shawn some more with a suplex to the outside and Shawn hit his leg on the steel barricade as well as falling to the floor. Just before that Shawn attacked Razor in the entrance way, after a bit of time more ducks and reversals and Razor ducked a Shawn Superkick. Razor irish whipped HBK hard into the buckle twice more.

Ramon kicked Michaels in the stomach as he was on the top and then hit a samoan drop from the top turnbuckle! Amazing move.

Both men look beaten down early especially HBK which I felt helped this ladder match`s credibility more then the orignal. The pacing was more brutal, more enthralling overall here it felt.

Sid is watching from the back. Uh-Oh. Razor levelled Shawn with a big right hand on the outside while he threw a Ladder in the ring. Razor set it up and then climbed to the top but Shawn pushed it over and Razor fell off for the first false spot of the Ladder Match. HBK then picked up the Ladder and set the sides together so it is one piece and swung it into Razor`s stomach as a weapon! He set the ladder back up and began to climb until Ramon grabbed HBK`s leg and then pulled his tights down a little and the ladies screamed. Razor then grabbed Shawn and his leg twisted inside the ladder in a cool looking spot as him and the ladder both fell down. For Razor, by taking out the leg-knee area it would also make it harder for HBK to not only perform his finishing super kick but it would not let him be able to win the Ladder match as the object is to climb the ladder using those parts of your body obvioussly.

That`s why it was all so smart.

Razor dropped the ladder on HBK`s bad leg again then with Shawn on the outside Razor climbed the ladder, out of desperation Shawn from the outside managed to make it to the top turnbuckle as he is a flyer and dropkicked Razor off the ladder. Bought himself some time. Shawn pushed Ramon into the ladder once Hall made it to his feet to buy himself some more time as he continued to sell the bad left leg.

Razor Ramon then to his feet first obvioussly began climbing but HBK was underneath him so it was very believable he could catch up. With HBK climbing right behind Razor he delivered a suplex off the top of the ladder to Razor Ramon.

I love it when a guy gets back in control after he`s been worked on and it`s realistic. That`s exactly what this was.

Shawn then hammered Razor with rights once Razor got to his feet and Razor this time went face first into the ladder that was standing vertical by the ring post. Michaels in control now and he threw Razor`s back into the ladder yet again! Shawn scooped Hall up and slammed him! What a match this is from every point of view so far. HBK set up the ladder in the corner of the ring and hit a moonsault onto Razor in the corner to keep him down. With Razor down, Michaels climbed up high and in a familiar spot from Wrestlemania X he climbed to the top to hit a splash but Razor had that move well scouted and moved out of the way.

Both men now down for a longer period of time and the fans are going crazy as we`ve seen a war, a well fought battle between two warriors with great psychology, bumps, moves and pace. EVerything you could ask for pretty much.

Razor began to set the ladder up and Shawn tried to get back to his feet at the very same time. Both men climbed each side ever so slowly to make it all the more dramatic as Razor hit Shawn with some right hands as did Shawn to Razor Ramon at the very top of the ladder as both men were in reach of the Ladder. Both men then fell to the side and landed crotch first onto the top rope, only Razor fell to the outside while Shawn was down inside the ring and both men sell this and catch a breather yet again.

Michaels then dove out of the ring with the ladder trying to attack Razor who at the very same time was getting INSIDE the ring but he moved and caught a bit of him and now both men were OUTSIDE the ring with the ladder. Razor got to his feet first and then grabbed another ladder that was underneath the ring. Michaels set up a ladder in the ring and Razor grabbed another. Michaels climbed the ladder in the middle of the ring and Razor went for the Razor`s Edge and hit it! The fans cheered as Shawn just felt the Razor`s Edge from the top of the ladder! Great stuff.

Razor Ramon of course the first to his feet this time around as it`d be plain ridiculous for him not to be. Razor Ramon nursing some other injuries took his time to set up the 2nd ladder in the middle of the ring. Shawn then began turning over and Razor watched for that. Timing is so important in ladder matches in paticular. Shawn climbed one ladder while Razor climbed the other and Shawn kicked Razor over but then missed himself when going for it. Vince says he thought he had seen it all in the first ladder match but obvioussly hadn`t. Shawn then threw Razor to the outside.

Shawn then missed the belt and threw a tantrum when missing it the first time.

Shawn made up for it I guess by getting it the 2nd time. That didn`t affect the match in my eyes.

A top 3 Ladder match ever.

Michaels won the war this time around at 25:03 when he captured the Intercontinental Championship.

Razor shook hands with Shawn after.

A Summerslam epic.
