You could be right, I guess.
On another note, it's interesting how Meltzer only had a total of 2 WWE matches at ****1/2+ last year. This year, it's only June and he's given 3 WWE matches ****1/2+
Another funny thing is that after Wrestlemania 25, most people were saying that "nothing will top Undertaker/HBK for match of the year." Then, Backlash came, and Cena and Edge had a fantastic LMS match, and there were comments like "Cena-Edge LMS is gonna give HBK/Taker a run for its money." Now, The Bash came, with Y2J and Rey Rey having a fantastic match, with some people even saying that it's on par with/superior to HBK/Taker.

Wrestlemania 26: Edge vs Chris Jericho

I'll say one thing, in terms of quality, this year has been amazing. Every week smackdown puts on atleast one 3 star match, and thats not counting the PPVs. Cant wait to see what else they have in store for us.
Re: Official Match/Show/DVD Discussion Thread - SNOWFLAKES~
Sorry for keep bringing this topic back up but another thing that I remember is that Meltzer gave HHH/Edge from GAB last year ***1/2, and he said it was a "good match but not great."
Smackdown delivers every week, but this week's card isn't looking good. I'm only interested in the tag main event.

Link to this Race/Lawler match please? I've actually never seen a proper Lawler match before (as in, one that isn't his random Raw jobbing matches). Haven't come across that territory stuff much before I spose.
Re: Official Match/Show/DVD Discussion Thread - SNOWFLAKES~
Just watched Disc 2 of the best of Starracde and I was just wondering If I am the only one who thinks Flair Vs. Luger and Flair Vs. Rhodes are two great matches. I have them both at ****1/4 fyi.
To obtain, something of equal value must be lost..

Re: Official Match/Show/DVD Discussion Thread - SNOWFLAKES~
Both Chamber matches from this year's No Way Out were better than any Rey|Jericho match. I'd put the RAW and SmackDown Chamber matches #2 and #3 in my MOTY list so far with Shawn|Taker at the peak.
Crossface, if I'm not mistaken, that Lawler|Race match in on Youtube. Seen it once before, I think. Don't remember it all that well.
Meltzer's ratings for the Bash seem kinda wacko but most his WWE PPV ratings this year have been that.
As far as Elim. Chambers go, I'd say NYR 05, SummerSlam 02, No Way Out 09 Chambers are all around the four star mark but NYR was definitely the best of the bunch.
Re: Official Match/Show/DVD Discussion Thread - SNOWFLAKES~
Okay, thanks.
Oh yeah, Austin101: I'd give HHH/Orton around ***1/2 I guess. I actually really enjoyed their No DQ match of this year on Raw too. Definitely ***+. Haven't seen their 3SOH match yet. They seem to be okay with a gimmick, but usually don't mesh well otherwise. Their multi man stuff together (NYR 05 chamber, SS 04 tag, NYR 07 tag, WM 24 triple threat, BL 2008 fatal fourway) has generally been strong - which people do forget about. Strictly one on one though, they're hit or miss. I'm not as down on their feud or series as most, but there's no doubt that they've had some stinkers considering the high profile nature of their feuds over the years.
Also watched Rey/Jericho from Raw this year yesterday. Only 7 minutes long, but a really exciting 7 minutes. Their chemistry is excellent and no matter how long they're given - they just seem to bring out the very best in each other. Rey can do so much more with Jericho than 95% if his other opponents, so has a lot more freedon and range. This makes him look damn incredible in the ring. Meanwhile Jericho brings the facial expressions, counters, beatdowns, taunting, heel mannerisms and some psychology (619, mask etc). They always seem to create a story out of nothing and the energy in the ring together is tremendous. I loved the finish in this too. Genuinely had me marking out. Brilliant utilisation of the storyline concerning Rey's mask being his downfall. This match didn't have enough time to be truly great, but it's a really fun little match that never once got dull. I'd probably go *** on it.

Chris Benoit vs. Fit Finlay: WWE Smackdown 5/5/06: ***3/4-****. God, this was something else. These 2 guys have out of this world chemistry with one another. It's very similar to Benoit vs. Regal, but even better. They just HATE each other for no particular reason. It's surly, violent mat wrestling, with brutal strikes thrown in. At 50 years old, Finlay was refreshing to watch in 2006, and he added something really unique to Smackdown. He was amazing here, but I can't even begin to describe a lot of what made him great. So much subtlety in his heel performance, and the crowd picked up on all of it. He was ungodly stiff and Benoit ate all of it, including a Bret Hart irish whip in the corner bump that looked like it caved his chest in. Half way through, Benoit started bleeding hard way from the top of his head, and I couldn't figure out what it was from. It was almost comical, because it could of been from a whole host of things. It got to the point where the crowd was standing 3 quarters into it and would start making noise if Benoit showed the slightest hint that he was making a comeback. It's surreal to see this type of stuff in the WWE. I'm really not doing it justice, it has to be seen to be appreciated. And this is *only* their third best match together from this year.
Shawn Michaels vs. Razor Ramon, WWF Raw 8/1/94: ***1/2. The first couple minutes of this are awesome, and the highpoint of the match. They did some really inspired sequences and Shawn pinballed. That said, it dies down quickly. Shawn takes over on offense for about 5 minutes and it was dull and didn't go anywhere until the first commercial. Good use of commercial breaks in this too. Razor was on offense when they came back and it was a little better, the crowd was into it and he worked Shawn's back pretty well. Long match. After another commercial, they go into the finishing stretch. Some good near falls like you'd expect. Razor's back work is never followed up on, and Shawn doesn't sell it, which is odd. Not a huge deal, as it was an exciting, fun match when it was all said and done. The finish is awkward too, but at least it had adequate build. Their 2nd best match together, as this had it's problems, but not as many as their second ladder match.
Barry Windham vs. Tully Blanchard, JCP 1/23/88: ****. Really great match. This was right in the middle of Windham's late 80's run as one of the best workers ever, and was at his best here. Tully was Tully. He made all of Barry's offense look like the world's greatest. The match was about Windham's hurt leg, which Tully decimated in maybe the best "wrap the guy's leg around the steel post" spot ever. Just brutal looking. Barry sold it brilliantly throughout the match, and it's probably a must see for that alone. The finish here was indescribably great too, I can't recall ever seeing anything like it. This set the table for the rest of the year. I got this in the media section here if anyone wants to check it out.
