I don't put him on my top 25 list for a couple reasons
1) He wasn't the answer for the NWA and Lou Thesz for the World Title. When he won the WWWF world Title in 63, that was a big deal but he held that title for 2 and a half weeks which back then is the equivalent to Kane holding the WWF title in 1997 for one day. To me, it seemed like he was the transition guy to Bruno who held that title for 7 years.
2) Going on the first statement. Any guy who is beyond a heel (by that I mean someone who the boys in the back want to hurt literally beyond a storyline http://www.prowrestlingdaily.com/200...-buddy-rogers/) is taking it too far. He had problems with the NWA.
3) What's his Claim to fame? His moniker went to Flair. That's it. He didn't do much after his first WWWF title reign and back in those days you had to go by word of mouth because their wasn't much by the way of Television or much that is recorded to this day. I haven't seen much of Thesz either, but hearing his history, his impact, being the original wrestler to hold a world title for 5+ years, that guy to me is a top 25 guy.
I can understand the Arguments for Rogers though to be a top 25 guy. It's just my opinion though. Unfortunately the matches I've seen and heard about go back to 74 to present and not very much before that. If I seen More of Rogers, then he probably would be top 25, but from what I heard and the stuff he was chronicled as, I personally would not put him in my top 25. Top 40 absolutely, but not quite top 25.

Re: The 25 Greatest Wrestlers of all Time
There are SO many incredibly talented wrestlers, I couldn't even begin to pick a top 25, but, as a top 5, I'd say number one for definite would be HBK, and in no particular order after that, Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin and Undertaker

I can respect the thoughts, opinions are to each his own, but the heel part I don't think is taking anything too far. Shawn Michaels in the late 90s was a great heel and literally hated by the majority of the locker room, hell he got into confrontations with how many people, Bret, Chris Harris, Harris Twins in general, Candido, Douglas, Taker.

Point taken, but no one was out to literally injure HBK in the back (maybe outside of Bret Hart), like Kowalski and others were planning to do to Rogers in the late 50s early 60s. I know times were different and it was easier to report things like that, but in light of the Brody incident in 88, it wouldn't surprise in the least bit if the wrestlers had a vendetta against Rogers.

Re: The 25 Greatest Wrestlers of all Time
How Jericho is getting beaten on some of these lists by Guerrero, Mysterio and even a scumbag like Benoit is beyond me. I don't have international or old-school wrestling knowledge to make one of these lists, but I know that if I were to create one Benoit would be expelled from it based on principle. And as for Guerrero and Mysterio, both are talented wrestlers, but I'd say Jericho has more 4 and 5 star matches than either and is far superior on the mic.

4. Steve Austin
5. Mr. Perfect
6. The Undertaker
7. Triple H
8. Ric Flair
9. Kurt Angle
10. Ricky Steamboat
11. The Rock
12. Sting
13. Chris Benoit
14. Owen Hart

19. Rick Rude
20. Chris Jericho
21. Bam Bam Bigelow
22. Mick Foley
23. Eddie Guerrero
24. Rey Mysterio
25. Dean Malenko
I like seeing how different everyone's opinions are.

Definitely agree. After what Benoit did it kind of makes being a great wrestler pale into insignificance. As for Jericho, he is definitely better than Mysterio, not so sure about Guerrero, and i'm not just saying that cos he is deceased. Guerrero was the epitome of a modern wrestler, he could talk a great game and wrestle a great game in equal measures, and his charisma is unparalleled. I'm surprised Angle isn't higher up on some people's lists as well, he definitely deserves it and is another one of the modern greats.
By the way i'm not going to make a list because I don't know enough about independent/Japanese promotions to make an informed decision.

Michaels will surpass Flair by the end of his career, as he'll no doubt continue to have ****+ matches. The likes of Funk and Thesz, I haven't seen that much of but they impressed me enough to make my list. All things considered, done by all round ability.
