EXACT same for me. Again. Might do a review of Austin/Rock actually in amongst all of this Bret watching.
Btw, watch this:
Hart Foundation v Twin Towers (Big Bossman and Akeem), 5/15/89
Couldn't find this on dailymotion and it's one of my favourite Foundation tags. Don't expect ****+, but it's incredibly fun.
Kennedy, Bergkamp in your AV is WIN. Just because.

Better show for WWE in the year and I thought Michaels vs. Orton was the best match on the card. But I lack to enjoy this PPV as much as some others do here.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread II
Here is my first Raw review in case anyone missed it from the old thread. Below it is my second raw review that I have just finished.
Raw 3rd January 2000
Opening segment
The Rock opens the show, just one week after the "pink slip on a pole" match where he beat Mankind, who lost his job as a result.
He gets on the mic, does his"finally, The Rock blah blah", but says "Home" instead of the place, as we are live in Miami. He starts naming some things from Miami, and when he says one of the sports teams, half the people boo . Guess not many of them are from Miami, or just hate that team lol.
He finally shuts up about crap that nobody cares about, and starts talking about Foley. He talks about how crap it was he was fired and challenges Triple H to a match.
Things start to pick up now as Triple H comes out with Stephanie. He talks about how he would love to beat the hell out of The Rock right now, but... The Rock doesn't offer Triple H anything, but Big Show does, and he will face Show tonight for the WWF Title!
So instead of The Rock facing Triple H tonight, he is going to be in the first ever Handicap "You're Fired" Match! DX (X-Pac, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn) all run out and attack The Rock, to give him a taste of what he can expect later tonight!
An entertaining segment, with some really good mic work by Triple H, who made what could have been another boring Rock promo where he says the same thing all the time...
2 Cool Vs The Dudley Boys
2 Cool start the match off with things going their way, but after a Worm to D-Von, The Dudley's take control. Seriously, is the Worm supposed to be Scotty's finisher? D-Von got up RIGHT AFTER Scotty hit the Worm!
The Dudley's try to beat down Scotty, but Scotty is able to make a tag to Grand Master. The Mean Street Posse attack Rikishi on the outside, and the APA come down and chase the Posse away. Rikishi comes into the ring and super kicks Bubba, getting his boys DQ'd, then hits a Rikishi Drop or Bomb or whatever they call it, on D-Von.
Rather odd that Rikishi got 2 Cool DQ'd, when 2 Cool were doing ok...
The match was too short to be anything good.
Rating: *
Backstage Segment
The APA get interviewed, saying that they could beat the Posse with one arm tied behind their backs. Camera switches to HHH and Steph, who think that is a great idea, and book a 2 on 3 handicap match between the APA and Posse, with the APA having one arm tied behind their backs.
Steve Blackman then comes into the room, and Triple H tells him if he hits Kane with a kendo stick tonight, he is fired. Steph looks confused as to why he would do that, and Triple H says it is because Kurt Angle is facing Kane tonight! (Blackman and Angle were sort of feuding)
Nothing much to this segment really other than 2 matches being announced.
Kane Vs Kurt Angle
Kurt Angle is still undefeated here, but Kane has to have been considered a big favourite to end his streak.
Kane dominates early on, until Angle uses his speed and intelligence to start to to take down the big monster. Kane still manages to chokeslam Angle, and just as he sets him up for a Tombstone, Blackman comes out with a Kendo stick!
Angle gets hits with the kendo stick, and wins by DQ!
Short match, but fun!
Rating: *1/2
Backstage Segment
Triple H asks Stephanie if she had said anything to Blackman after he left the room earlier. She says no, and that Angle was still undefeated, then says she has a plan for the IC title.
Nothing happened really.
In Ring Segment
Stephanie comes out to the ring to talk about the IC title situation. Last week on Smackdown, both Jericho and Chyna pinned each other at the same time, with multiple referees arguing who won.
Steph asks one of the referees who is the champion, and he says Chyna, so Steph asks Chyna to come down to the ring. Steph asks another referee who is the champion, and he says Jericho, so Steph brings out Jericho.
It is announced that BOTH Chyna and Jericho are the champion! Only one of them can defend the title at a time, and if one of them loses the belt, they both lose it.
Hardcore and Crash Holly interrupt them, and asks for a title shot right now. Steph agrees!
Chyna Vs Hardcore Holly - WWF Intercontinental Title
Chyna dominates Holly early on (WTF?) and almost beats him with a DDT. Dropkick to the face puts Hardcore in the drivers seat now.
The Kat distracts the referee as Holly has Chyna pinned, and Jericho hits Holly, allowing Chyna to roll him up for the win. Jericho then leaves with the belt, and Chyna goes after him.
Back in the ring, Hardcore beats down Crash, as usual.
Another very shot match, but entertaining to watch.
Rating: *
Backstage Segment
Triple H and Steph tell Bossman and Albert that they are facing Test and a couple of partners tonight. Bossman doesn't care who his partners are.
The Big Show Vs Triple H - WWF Title
Show starts off the match in control thanks to his size and power. Triple H gets in control on the outside, sending Show over the guardrail, and sending Show into the steel steps, and then over the announcers table.
Show starts to come back, and almost retains his title a couple of times. When it looks like Triple H is done, DX, who were on the ramp, come down to ringside. They don't interfere, but distract the ref long enough for HHH to hit a low blow and the Predigree. We have a NEW WWF Champion!
Not a very long match, as most aren't on these older Raws, but it was a pretty good match, and the title change makes it even better.
Rating: **1/2
Test, Mae Young & The Fabulous Mullah Vs The Big Bossman & Albert
Mae Young hits the bronco buster on Bossman... Eeewwww.
Test gets double teamed, then starts to make a comeback, until he gets hit with the nightstick and then kicked by Albert and pinned.
Lol, WTF. Seriously, WTF.
Rating: DUD
Backstage Segment
Triple H, Steph and DX are celebrating Triple H's title win, as they watch The Big Show looking upset leaving the arena. It doesn't look like much of a fun party though . Funny listening to Road Dogg singing the leaving song in the background though.
APA Vs Mean Street Posse - APA have 1 arm tied behind their backs
Before the match starts, the Posse attack the APA on their way to the ring, and then The Dudley Boys come down and attack them with chairs.
Rating: Match Never Happened
Backstage Segment
More celebrating with the new champ, followed by a DX movie .
The movie is called "Have a Bad Day", and is about Mankind looking for a new job, with Mankind being called pathetic and useless, and he starts to cry . Funny as hell if I'm honest.
Jeff Hardy Vs Al Snow - Cage Match
Wow, what an epic cage match this looks to be...
Snow pulls Jeff out of the cage and hits him with a chair, then throws him back in the cage, and throws Terri in their too. He brings the chair in there, and chains the door shut.
Jeff recovers, and hits the whisper in the wind on Snow. Jeff tries to get Terri out, but Snow attacks him from behind. Jeff is sent flying face first into the cage, then puts the chair in Jeff's ankle to try and break it. Terri comes from behind to stop him. Just when it looks like Al is going to hit Terri with the shair, he hits the side of the cage.
We then find out that Matt was trying to climb the cage, so it made sense. Jeff climbs to the top of the cage, and Al follows, and brings Jeff down with an RKO type move, and lands on the steel chair! If that was done these days, it would be shown on the replay about 1000 times from different angles. Here, the crowd hardly make any noise, and they announcers don't really say much about it.
Jeff actually comes back from that move, with a spinning heel kick. Jeff tries to climb out again, but is knocked off the ropes. Al picks up Jeff and runs him into the cage again. He tries to do the same thing on the other side, but Jeff reverses it, and climbs out of the cage.
However, Terri is still in the cage, and Terri decides that now would be a good time to try and climb out. Why didn't she do that before? Moron. Matt gets into the cage and hits Al with the chair to save Terri.
Huh, a decent match. Nice big spot from these 2, even if nobody seemed to care.
Rating: **1/2
Have a Bad Day - Part 2
Mankind is shown trying to get a job entertaining kids at a hospital, and ends up getting kicked in the balls by Dr. Hung Low . I don't know why, but I always seem to find these videos funny.
Backstage Segment
The Rock is in his locker room, and Patterson and Briscoe are saying how awful it would be if he lost. Pointless lol.
It then switches to DX, with Triple H telling them to beat up The Rock.
Have a Bad Day - Part 3
Mankind is at a book signing, with nobody showing up. More insults to Foley, who gets fired from his book signing, then threatens the manager with his sock, and gets thrown out . More random funny stuff lol.
Backstage Segment
Basically the same as the last DX segment. They talk about beating up The Rock. Then something different happens! Yey! Someone knocks on the door, and The Rock runs in and attacks Billy Gunn and Road Dogg, then runs off!
DX (X-Pac, Road Dogg & Billy Gunn) Vs The Rock - Handicap "You're Fired" Match
Triple H gets on the mic before the match starts, and makes the match a No DQ match! Rocky takes the fight to all 3 men, but soon gets beat down as the numbers game is too much for him.
The Rock fights back, knocking down Road Dogg, throwing Gunn into the steps, and throwing X-Pac crotch first into the ring post. The Rock is quickly knocked down again. In the ring, Road Dogg and Gunn double team him, then as soon as he gets the advantage again, X-Pac kicks him in the face, and he is down once again.
After a few minutes of being beat up, he hits a DDT on Gunn, Samoan Drop on X-Pac, then the People's Elbow on Road Dogg! 1..2.. the ref is pulled out of the ring! Spinning kick to the face from X-Pac, and a Jackhammer from Gunn take down The Rock once again.
Road Dogg tells X-Pac and Gunn to hold up The Rock while he gets a chair, and from out of the crowd comes Mick Foley!!! He knocks down Dogg, gets the chair and hits everyone but The Rock with it, including Triple H!
The Rock then hits a Rock Bottom on Gunn, and gets the win to keep his job! The fans go crazy, so I guess I am the only one that was rooting for DX...
A good, entertaining TV match. Not a classic by any means, but fun to watch and a good TV main event!
Rating: **3/4
Overall Show Rating: 6.5/10
With some very solid and entertaining matches, along with a good opening segment and some funny as hell DX videos mocking Mankind, this Raw is pretty good and very entertaining.
Some real surprises on this show, especially the cage match. I thought it was going to suck, but ended up being one of the best matches on the show, and featured a really good spot. Pity that the crowd didn't seem to care, nor did the announcers.
Odd to see the WWF Title change hands half way through the show, but it was still nice to have the biggest title change hands on Raw, something we don't see often these days. I guess they didn't put the show on last because they wanted The Rock's big match on last, since it was in his home town, and there was the chance he could have been fired .
So all in all, a good show to kick start one of the best years in Raw history!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Raw 10th January 2000
Opening segment
Raw starts with every WWF superstar except for DX come out and surround the ring, with The Rock in the ring with a mic.
The Rock calls out Triple H and Stephanie, as apparently the WWF superstars asked The Rock to be their "spokesperson". The Rock is out there to talk about Mick Foley, among other things.
Basically, if Triple H and Stephanie do not meet their demands, every single WWF superstar is going to walk out. Their first demand, re-instate Mick Foley! Oh yeah, Mick Foley is back baby!
The second demand is for matches like the "pink slip on a pole" and "handicap you're fired match" to never happen again. Of course, Triple H and Stephanie agree.
The third demand is for nobody to be fired again unless there is just cause. Before anything else can happen, Mick Foley comes out!
Foley comes out and acknowledges the "dozens... and DOZENS of the Mankind fans"! He then challenges Triple H to a WWF Title match at the Royal Rumble, with stipulations he will name later. Triple H agrees, just like he has done to every other demand so far.
The Rock makes yet another demand, and that is making him a participant on the Royal Rumble match! Foley then books a match between Billy Gunn and Road Dogg, and then makes a match between X-Pac and Triple H!
Then, The Rock says that after those matches have taken place, DX will face the APA! Triple H seems happy about that, as he thinks it will be 4 on 2. The Rock then tells him that the APA will have 2 tag team partners; The Rock & Sock Connections!!!
WOW. This could very well be the best opening segment EVER.
Backstage Segment
DX are shown arguing after what just happened. X-Pac, Gunn and Dogg are not happy about the matches that were made.
Road Dogg Vs Billy Gunn
I for one wanted to see this match, and I'm sure everyone else did too. Both men were over as hell, especially Road Dogg, who was one of THE most popular guys in 99.
This was a good competitive match between the 2 friends and tag champions. Really good finish, with Road Dogg countering the Fameasser with his pumphandle drop. Nice match!
Road Dogg tried to make up with Gunn after the match, but Gunn just walked off.
Rating: **
Backstage Segment
Mankind goes into a room, and he has the imposter Mankind (from the DX videos last week) tied to a chair!
It then switches to The Hardy Boys and Terri writing down on the sign up sheet that The Rock made for people to have any match they wanted.
Kurt Angle & Steve Blackman Vs The Hardy Boys
Wait, weren't Blackman and Angle feuding? I know they were a team in last 99, but I'm sure they had a falling out, and even had a PPV match at Armageddon I think...
Some decent action with Angle and the Hardy's, then Blackman got in the ring. He and Jeff go outside, and Jeff tried for a Hurricanrana, but Blackman catches him and swings him into the steel steps!
Blackman brings one of his sticks into the ring, but Jeff dropkicks him from the top rope, and Matt hits a Twist of Fate for the win. Angle is pissed and walks out on Blackman.
Fun little tag match.
Rating: *1/2
Backstage Segment
Mankind sounds like he is going crazy as he is talking to the imposter Mankind. Funny stuff.
We then see Edge who has just put down a match on the sign up sheet, and Christian comes along to see if he had done it.
Backstage Segment
Jericho and Chyna are by the sign up sheet, and Jericho is asking for Chyna to sign them up for a tag match against the Holly's.
Val Venis Vs Edge - WWF European Title
Before the match starts, a small promo for Tazz comes on the screen. Well, mainly just part of his music, some orange lighting and his logo come on the screen .
Some really good wrestling in this match, as Val shows us just why he is unbelievably under used these days, and Edge shows us the potential he has now been able to bring out of himself and become world champ.
Edge hits his finisher at the time, the Downward Spiral, but Val is in the ropes. Edge misses a spear, and Val hits a Fisherman's Suplex and gets the pin.
Good match!
Rating: **3/4
Backstage Segment
X-Pac, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn are still arguing.
Chris Jericho & Chyna Vs Crash & Hardcore Holly
Even though they hated each other at the time, Jericho and Chyna work well together and do some pretty good double team moves.
Blind tag from Hardcore, and he gets in control of Chyna. A suplex into a slam (Falcon Arrow?) from Hardcore pins Chyna.
Meh, not that good, but short.
Rating: 3/4*
Backstage Segment
Mankind is pouring hot coffee on the imposter Mankind lol.
It then switches to X-Pac walking in on Triple H who is getting ready for their match, and tells him he is going to prove to Triple H that he is just as good as he is.
X-Pac Vs Triple H
This was a good match between 2 great performers. X-Pac was out to prove he was just as good as Triple H, and Triple H was just trying to win.
X-Pac was doing really well, until Steph pushed him off the top rope, and Triple H hit the pedigree for the win.
A good match for the time it got. I would have liked to see them get a lot more time to do something great.
Rating: **
Backstage Segment
X-Pac, Road Dogg and Gunn are backstage talking trash about Triple H. They seem to be together now, but are still not happy with Triple H.
Rikishi & 2 Cool Vs Al Snow & The Headbangers
Not a long match, with Rikishi dominating when he gets the tag. He picks up the win with his Rikishi Drop.
Rating: 1/2*
Backstage Segment
Mankind is back with the imposter Mankind again. He threatens him with 1 hour of Al Snow matches if he isn't good .
Backstage Segment
Mankind unties the imposter Mankind, and tells him to sit back and relax, and not leave the room or he will regret it.
D-Lo Brown & The Godfather Vs The Dudley Boys
Godfather and D-Lo are in control for the first part of the match, but a power bomb and head butt to the groin on D-Lo puts The Dudley Boys in control.
The Godfather gets the hot tag, and hits the Ho Train on D-Von. D-Lo is about to Frog Splash him, but Bubba pulls D-Von out and try to steal the Ho's! The match ends in either a countout or DQ, not sure.
Rating: 1/4*
Backstage Segment
Mankind meets Tori in the back, and starts to say how nice her tits are, and how he wants her. He then smacks her arse and tells her he will be in his locker room. I wonder what is going to happen now...
The imposter Mankind is still in Mankind's locker room, and Tori brings back Kane to kick his arse! Kane destroys the imposter Mankind! We could all see this coming, but I think everyone still enjoyed it .
It then switches to DX talking about how they need to stick together.
Test & The Big Show Vs The Big Bossman & Albert
Very very very short match with Test pinning Albert after a big boot and elbow drop from the top rope. After the match, Albert and Bossman confront each other, and Albert knocks down Bossman. Show comes back in the ring, and double chokeslams both men!
Rating: DUD
DX Vs APA & The Rock & Sock Connections
Some good back and forth action for the majority of this match. LMFAO at Faarooq telling X-Pac to suck it and doing the movement .
The crowd erupt when Mankind and Triple H start to go at it. Triple H tries to make a tag out, but everyone moves off the apron and leaves him alone in the ring with Mankind! Triple H ain't happy, as the rest of DX walk out!
The Rock & APA chase after DX up the ramp, and start to brawl while Mankind and Triple H are still going at it. Mankind goes for Socko, and Steph tries to stop him, Mankind is about to give Steph Socko, but Triple H comes from behind to stop him.
Triple H slams Mankind's head into the steps and the announcer's table, then nails him with the ring bell! This is then followed up with a Pedigree though the table!
Foley is bleeding, and gets another Pedigree in the middle of the ring, and Triple H pins him.
A very exciting and entertaining tag match that turned into a bloody brawl between HHH and Foley. As well should all know by now, the events of this match led to Mankind turning into Cactus Jack to face Triple H in a street fight at the RR!
After the match, the fighting continues. Mankind throws the steel steps at Triple H, then hip tosses him through part of the announcers table that wasn't broken yet.
Rating: ***
Overall Show Rating: 7/10
The main event was an improvement from last week's pretty good match, and matches like Val/Edge really help make this a better show, along with the great segments.
Like I said at the beginning of the review, the opening segment was great, one of the best I have seen.
The main event was a HUGE match on paper, and while it may not have delivered as much as it could have done, it was very entertaining and very good to watch with plenty of action and blood. A good build up to the RR.
