Its very simple hollywood. I challenge you to find me someone who is a dwayne Johnston fan. There are millions of 'rock' fans, but ive never met a fan of the actor. The people who watch his films are his wrestling fans.
Total fail dude.

This isn't really worth response or time but the accusation of failure after I had to straighten you out amuses me. Look..you're a Rock fan. That's nice. But you are complaining and whining like a female right now. Think about how that looks and comes off to anyone of reasonable mind. Most people that bash the Rock in this thread have no viable reason. They created this fake illusion of Rock "denying" his wrestling background when he has never once, to this day, done such. Ever. There isn't a interview or situation that can disprove it. He's said he's done with wrestling because HE IS done with wrestling. He was done 4 years ago after Stephanie let his contract run out in Dec 2004 when he was gearing up for a WM 21 appearance. He's been nice and complimentary of the WWE with how he's participated in those 2005 WWE.com interviews on him praising Mysterio and saying he didn't want to wrestle Michaels but that's been it.
LOL@the psychological comedy you insist trying to claim Johnson and Rock are two different people. Dwayne Johnson is the Rock so they HAVE to be his fans as well. That's why he can open at #1 while Condemned and Marine can't even make top 5 with massive WWE promotion.
BTW, go buy that legendary "The Rock: Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment" DVD that comes out in a few weeks. I will and that's saying something since I usually DL nothing but DVDRips these days. Love live the Rock/Austin era that left so dramatic an influence on you and yours.

Re: THE ROCK CHARACTER IS DEAD, INTERESTING THEORY ON WRESTLER'S EARLY MORTALITY RATE
God, at least some of you Rock marks are smart. (Admiremyclone among others) but some of you are so blind it isn't funny.
OF COURSE THE MAJORITY of people would rather have Rock return then Hogan or Austin. Hogan and Austin are both injured and old and have returned numerous times while Rock is still relatively young and NOT INJURED and hasn't appeared IN THE RING in nearly four years. YEAH...FOUR YEARS.
However if we were to discuss people in there primes, a healthy Austin back in 1996 or 1997, millions would perfer THAT guy over The Rock, so don't act like he is god.
Austin will always be better then The Rock overall but The Rock is very close to him. Steve is just more of a total package.

You make so many great strides but then you say comical things of that level. Millions choose Austin over the Rock? Are you out of your mind? Austin's own homestate cheered the Rock after WM 17 even though Austin is their hero. They threw trash at him and that shouldn't really be possible considering Austin's status, heel or face. Or let's go back to 1999 during those Rock/Austin vs DX matches where the entire crowd chanted for the Rock and acted like Austin wasn't even his tag partner. Do I have to upload that for everyone to see with their eyes? Austin, at the height of his popularity, being overshadowed by the hottest star in the industry. It happened week after week after week. No one could run from it. Hell, everyone has seen Corporate Rock generate massive pops and chants while feuding with Austin. WM 17 in a match that took place miles from Austin's homestate is the only real proof his fans have him being nearly as big as the Rock is but yeah...Austin is a loved star. The Rock is just the biggest star of this era. That's life.

thanks for the nice comment, i've never hidden the fact that when it comes to The Rock i'm like a big kid
but, i have the ability to step away from my wrestling obsession and put things into perspective.
As much as i love Rocky, i agree with everything you just said. Part of the reason people want Rock to come back so much is because he hasn't been in the ring in 4 years. Like you said, Austin and Hogan have been back a number of times, so the surprise and excitment isn't there as much.
Hell, if Austin from 1996/1997 turned up this Monday on RAW i would just LOSE IT. I wasn't watching at that time but i've since gone back and the man was a force of nature. If Rock came back, he wouldn't be the same guy i love. And if he tried, it'd come off badly. So, i'm perfeclty fine with the memories and endless video clips.

Hello there. I'm afraid you're suffering from selective memory syndrome.
I've spoken about Wrestlemania X-7 loads of times and the one thing that bothered me was the fact that the fans DIDN'T CARE when Austin made the heel turn. It was a very partisan crowd, about 80/20 in Austin's favour. The only thing that happened when Austin turned heel during the match was the boos towards The Rock died down. That's it. They still popped hard when Austin won the title, i didn't really hear any booing for him.
Also, i've just finished watching '98 RAWs and you're completely wrong. Rock was getting over in a big way from about May/June, but not once did he get a bigger pop than Austin. Not once. Austin was the hero that year. I agree with what you're saying about Rock's Corporate Champ reign though, he was getting much bigger pops than a heel should've been getting. But once again, when it came to one-on-one action against Stone Cold, it was Austin who always won out in terms of fan reaction.
The ONLY times it seemed the fans were more into Rocky than Austin was in late '99 just before Austin went out for neck surgery. But that's only because they were giving Rock more mic/screen time and giving Austin less because they didn't want there to be a HUGE gap when he inevitably had to leave. The other time was Wrestlemania XIX, but that's because Hollywood Rock was funny and Austin wasn't as badass as he used to be.

I make the same challenge to you and the other guy who quoted me.
Find me someone whos a fan of Dwayne Johnston, but not the wrestling character 'the rock'. I guarantee that you wont.
I havent said the rock has denied wrestling, maybe he loves acting or something, but it doesnt change the fact that for me his status has been lowered.

You would proberly find plenty of women who are interested in Dwayne Johnson who have little or no idea who the Rock is.
My sister being one of them, i would be shocked if see even knew he used to be a wrestler seeing as she thinks wrestling is just some fake crap with sweaty men.

This post and your next post are brilliant, well done.
By the way when I said 96/97 Austin I mean this guy.
Watch it, it's only 48 seconds.

The only one with a selective memory is you. I have this entire run on DVD and you are easily underscoring the Rock's reactions and impact. It's to be expected though since you fit the mold I mentioned before. No revisionist can change the Rock being more over in that Rock, This is Your Life segment than Austin's whole run that year. Nothing. And it's on the record because the ratings for that are legendary.
At Breakdown '98, the Rock blew that crowd away. Austin did not. Austin was the only face they had who stayed really over against Corporate Rock though because they kept chanting Rocky in all of those rematches he had with Foley leading to WM 15. The first Smackdown? 3 nights after the Rock turned himself face, what happens? He and Austin team up and Austin intially gets the huge Austin chant when he's in the ring but the crowd chants Rocky endlessly as soon as the Rock gets tagged in. This is filed. There is no debate on the matter. You and Austin101 can lead these childeren astray with false depictions of the past but not me. Doesn't work like that. I must commend you in thinking you could change the past though. Very cute.
Rock turned face? Video games done in tribute to him. All the music is marketed with him on the cover. Smackdown becomes his playground because it's named after him. After 2000, he was bigger than the industry. He helped put Austin back majorly over in 2001@ Mania and gave Hogan the last of his big returns after he was a non factor in the business for two years. That's who the Rock is. The guy that bridged your favorites and kept them acceptable as he stood there and put things on his back. And what I mean by him putting over Austin, Austin fans, is that the Rock was still the leader of the WWF until that match. He wrestled more and was in all the main events while Austin did more segments and wrestled once a week. Rock took 4 months off and that established Austin concretely into history as a legend. Of course it worked for the Rock as well since he returned to a hero's welcome and turned a 4.4 rating from one week without him to his hyped return getting a 5.7. That's why he gets Icon vs Icon matches and the Lesnar payoff was to go against him. It was best for business.

False despictions?
Give it up.
Vince McMahon will even tell you that know one turned business around more then Steve Austin. It's a FACT actually that he is the biggest Draw in WWF history. Sold the most merchandise, even though Rock came out with more material, nothing could catch on like Austin 3:16 did, which sold every 32 seconds worldwide from 1997 to 1998.
He also made the ratings jump a whole two and half points. You talk about Smackdown being named after The Rock. Well yeah, Rock is a huge draw. But the ATTITUDE ERA basically named after Austin.
enough said.
