Actually it was an interview and Dwayne Johnson said it himself.

lol, good point.
Reading the article, Johnson seems like a genuinely nice guy, with no Hollywood pretentious bullshit or ego. I just can't have any bitterness towards him for leaving WWE and being an actor.

Re: THE ROCK CHARACTER IS DEAD, INTERESTING THEORY ON WRESTLER'S EARLY MORTALITY RATE
I accepted the fact a long time ago that Rock wasn't coming back. Maybe the odd appearance if we're lucky.
However i heard in a recent interview on a british channel that the name "Rock" is just a nickname and he brushed it off as if it ment nothing.
He was the reason i got into wrestling and therefore has always been my favorite wrestler and to hear him put down his character, everything he worked and stood for is upsetting.
I wish him every success in his movie career but i hope he doesn't forget what made him!!!

He was a guest on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. Ross asked him about WWE, and Johnson said that he was called The Rock when he was with the company, but he's not going to use it anymore because he wants to focus on making films. He didn't put down his character, he said nothing but good things about his time with WWE. But he was clear that it was a chapter of his life that is over.

Dwayne Johnson made a BRILLIANT career decision in going from wrestling to Hollywood. Anyone who blames him for that clearly isn't thinking it through or simply lacks the ability of analytical thought.

Re: THE ROCK CHARACTER IS DEAD, INTERESTING THEORY ON WRESTLER'S EARLY MORTALITY RATE
First off, I'm a Rock fan and a Dwayne Johnson fan... I like the guy and he is talented...
The Rock is Dead... yes, that is true... what killed The Rock... not what... who... Dwayne Johnson killed The Rock... he tried as hard as he could to kill that character... everyone referred to him as The Rock when he first broke into movies... then after retiring from wrestling, he was still Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson... now, finally, The Rock has left the building!!! all because Dwayne didn't want to be referred to that way anymore.
Good move by Dwayne... hell yes... he makes much more money now than he ever did as a wrestler, he gets to spend more time with his family, and he is much less prone to injury because of the lack of nightly bumps and bruises.

He isn't even in wrestling anymore so I really don't care if he dropped the name.
