ok why is it that nobody uses jake the snakes style of d.d.t. anymore?
it was so good and made the move look more effective and devastating.
fair enough cody rhodes uses it as his finisher but its nothing impressive is it?

where did it all go wrong?

ive seen some wrestlers use it in the past and it almost looked like a snap suplex!

surely others think this...........

Overuse of any move leads it to lose it's effectiveness. Same thing happened with the piledriver a while ago. Now that hardly anyone uses it, it looks devastating when used. I'm guessing the lack of DDT's is because it's common courtesy not to infringe anyone's finisher.

Watch a Raven/Tommy Dreamer match from the Rise and Fall of ECW DVD, that really shows how the DDT was overused.

It really isn't used that much in WWE. Randy Orton does his variation of it and Cody Rhodes will use it once in a while but that's about it except the random DDT in a match.

Lita used to have the DDT as her finishing move, and it looked painful as hell.

Seriously, Jake's DDT looked much more effective than most of the DDT's we see these days.

it's used quite often as a counter-move

but yeah i think the way jake comitted and really drove the opponents head into the canvas carried a higher risk for injury than the swing-snap variation

These days nobody ever uses the DDT. Undertaker will do a running DDT now and then but its a very rare hold these days. Everyone use to use it at first but hardly anyone anymore.

Hehe, back in the days when Jake the Snake hit the DDT, it was over. Just all over, you wouldn't get back up.

It's a shame really that they've put some classic moves to shambles, but I guess the finishers need to have more entertainment value nowadays.

I think the DDT could still be a special finish since nobody really uses it these days. Would love to see Jake do it one more time one day for old times sake.
