Dead Reactions
When a match doesnt get good reactions from the crowd, whether it be face pop of heel heat, does it bring down the overall excitement from the match? I cringe at matches when I can hear the referee telling the wrestlers what to do next (it's happened a couple if times) because it so damn quiet...

Re: Dead Reactions
It does, but at the same time, it's up to the guys inside of that ring to make the crowd react, 'cause that's what they're paid to do.

Re: Dead Reactions
The crowd reaction is a pivotal part of the match. One of ECW's biggest problems is that the crowd is dead for the majority of the event. Which really brings down the excitement and even the quality of the match/show because it just becomes boring. In some cases, crowds make the matches. Just look at some of the classic Wrestlemania matches and how the crowd made those matches better than the actual match itself.
It is always better to have hot crowds. Hot crowds also rub off in the wrestlers too and encourages them to be on their A game.

Re: Dead Reactions
often the difference between a 3 star match and a 4 star match or a 4 star match and a 5 star is often the crowd

Re: Dead Reactions
The crowd has been the difference between me giving ****3/4 or ***** in the past, and overall deciding how much I like a given match. I love it when the crowd counts with the ref when both guys are out cold, as well as the pops for false finishes. Shit like that builds the excitment needed to have a better than average match.

Re: Dead Reactions
Generally speaking yes. When the crowd's not into it, the match feels worse than it actually is. I remember watching a Helms vs Jimmy Yang match for the cruiserweight title at a ppv (armageddon?) a while back. Despite the match being a good one the crowd wasn't really into it, and because of the crowd's dullness, neither was I. However, there are exceptions. Look no further than Punk Vs Burke and MVP VS Benoit at JD. Even though the crowd was somewhat unenthusiastic, those matches were still pulled off very well.

Re: Dead Reactions
it does, even though a some fans are really dumb and say this is boring during a good match because they want high spots.

Re: Dead Reactions
The crowd can make a match. The Rock vs. Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania X8 was one heck of a bad match if you look at it, but with the crowd, it is enhanced a million times into what it is. Crowds do not make an entire match as I will gladly watch Shelton Benjamin vs. Chris Benoit and say it is excellent, but it makes the match easier to watch. I watch John Cena matches just for the crowd reactions sometimes.

Re: Dead Reactions
The crowd has made a lot of matches memorable. HHH/Cena, Rock/Hogan and Goldberg/Lesnar are some of the bigger ones.
I cannot stand a dead crowd. It's definatly not going to motivate the Wrestlers to put on better performances. Then during Finlay/Regal, the crowd was dead then when they decide to chant, they chant 'Boring'. Idiots.
Yeah, the crowd means a lot, more than people think.

Re: Dead Reactions
For Goldberg & Lesnar, by memorable, do you mean because of the fact that people were chanting Austin's name instead of Bill & Brock's and because they just showered Bill & Brock with insults?!
