Why do most wrestlers today lack charisma?
I think that too much nowdays in the WWE is scripted and for some wrestlers they are better when they can adlib. For instance when Steve Austin became Stone Cold no one had any idea what he was going to do. In fact I don't think he even knew what he was going to do before he did it.
Also wrestlers were able to be multi-dimensional back then and do unique things and finish matches other than the usual now it is just rehashing the same wrestling matches over and over. Too much mic work and promos are forced and the main eventers sound generic (except Kennedy)

Maybe because the owners only care about the looks

Re: Why do most wrestlers today lack charisma?
Or Cena has a lot of charisma, and people like you just cry for the attitude era, making 8 billion threads about it everyday. Then act like you aren't saying anything different than the billion other threads.
Hell even Khali has great charisma when he is angry on the mic, he just can't speak English perfectly.
Edge is great on the mic, and plays the heel character perfectly.
Flair, and HBK are arguably two of the best ever. HHH has been around, and also gets over no matter what he plays perfectly.
The Miz plays his heel character perfectly, and has amazing mic skills. No one wants to give him a chance, or even pay attention that he has actually improved.
Anyways, the late 80s, and early 90s had legends with much better charisma. They just put on crazy promos often that people reacted to perfectly. Nothing matched the intensity of Hogan v Warrior at mania. Big crowd, with everyone split. Say what you want about Warrior being crazy, the promos he put on were ate up by the people.

AdamBombed you are a hypocrite, you complain about me mentioning the WWF and Attitude Era, then you go and do the exact same thing except rave about the 80's and early 90's, you remind me of one of those Emo kids on South Park, calling everyone conformists, dont reply to my threads with your bs, Khali has charisma? a retarded donkey has more charisma than Khali.

Re: Why do most wrestlers today lack charisma?
It's not so much that the new stars lack charisma, they are just so very young and new to wrestling; they haven't had time to develop their characters, their mic skills, their comfort-level, etc.

Re: Why do most wrestlers today lack charisma?
Not all wrestler today lack charisma, just a few are lacking. Guys like Cena, Edge, HBK, HHH and many more have tons of charisma. Other superstars just don't have any or are pushed to the stars to quickly that they haven't had the chance to show or gain any charisma.

Re: Why do most wrestlers today lack charisma?
Lack of passion would be one of the top reasons. (younger guys)
Meh, can't blame the script that much. It is the wrestlers job to take the script and deliver that script in the best way possible.
Less script does allow for more personality, but it also increases the chance of an error. The guys who can go off script and still "get the job done" are guys that are or will be top guys in the company.

Re: Why do most wrestlers today lack charisma?
A lot of what we hear on WWE today is heavily scripted. A lot of the guys wrestling didn't train t be actors and so they find it difficult to sound convincing and real. If they were allowed to write their own material, you would see a lot more charismatic performers and a much better show.
