My Unforgiven 2006 Review

*Intercontinental Championship: Jeff Hardy vs. Johnny Nitro (c)
Alot of submission use in this match, especially by Nitro on working Hardy's lower body. The Toronto crowd was involved in this match, but not heavily, which I believe helped the match. Not too exciting, but a good contest between the two. Overall Rating: 8/10

*Kane vs. Umaga
This was a short match, since it ended up being a Double Countout in about 8 minutes. Pretty much just the usual back and forth action that you'd expect between the two, but fair brawl nonetheless between the Big Red Machine and the Samoan Bulldozer. Overall Rating: 6/10

*World Tag Team Championship: The Highlanders vs. The Spirit Squad (c)
This match saw The Highlanders pretty much dominate for the most part. Kenny and Mikey were the two defending the World Tag Team titles in this bout. Lots of near falls and pretty much an above average tag team contest for which we would see these days. Overall Rating: 7/10

*First-Ever Handicap Hell in a Cell: D-Generation X vs. Shane McMahon, Vince McMahon & The Big Show
The newest Hell in a Cell was introduced, with JR mentioning it being "20 feet higher" and other aspects of it being better than the original. Lots of blood in this match, which is no surprise. Vince McMahon joins his very own club when DX shoves him into Big Show, which was a funny moment. I was surprised when Shane McMahon lifted up Triple H in an Torture Rack position, since I don't see that often out of Shane. Lots of brutality as well, for when Triple H cracked (that's right, cracked) the sledgehammer on the back of Mr. McMahon's neck. I think it would of been better if they would of went to the top, which remains to be a favorable moment for Hell in a Cell matches. Looks like they stopped having the superstars do it ever since back in 2002's Judgment Day. Nonetheless, great match. Overall Rating: 9/10

*Women's Championship: Lita (c) vs. Trish Stratus
This was a very special match for Trish Stratus, since it was her last one and it was held in her hometown. This match was more fitting since it was against one of her most noticed long-time rivals, Lita. Good and enjoyable match, with the highlight being the Sharpshooter, which received a spectacular response from the Toronto crowd. Overall Rating: 8.5/10

*Randy Orton vs. Carlito
Another enjoyable match, with lots of aerial action by Carlito (including a Corkscrew Senton and a Moonsault right after). Nice finish with Orton catching Carlito in mid-air with an RKO, after Carlito unsuccessfully tried another Corkscrew Senton. Good match and I'd like to see another rematch with more time sooner or later. Overall Rating: 8/10

*WWE Championship: Tables, Ladders and Chairs: John Cena vs. Edge (c)
Easily the match of the night, with the Toronto atmosphere on Edge's side. Edge comes out to great ovation, and this time, a respective look on his face. Cena comes out to a whole chant of boos, as expected. It was John Cena, the challenger who never been part of a TLC match against Edge, the reigning champion who has never lost a TLC match. Some people thought that Cena wouldn't take a bump, but wrong they were. Lots of creative use of the "hardware" by Edge, including a leap from the ring to Cena when Edge ran up a slanted ladder connected to the turnbuckle. Surprise moment when Lita comes out of nowhere and lifts the ladder to knock John Cena out of the ring, through the air, through a table out on ringside. This was a great TLC match which saw Edge being F-U'd by Cena from the top of a 16-foot ladder onto two stacked tables. Great moment there, and a fantastic one-on-one TLC match. Overall Rating: 9.5/10

Overall Pay-Per-View Rating: 56/70 = 8/10 = **** (4 stars)
All the matches on the card were good, with the exception of Kane vs. Umaga which I thought was fair. Nonetheless, my recommendation would be to buy the event. You won't be disappointed!

I also have WM 21 and I say it's decent. The entertainment value is awesome but compared to WM 22 and WM 20, it's poor. Angle-Michaels was a un forgettable match and HHH-Batista was good, at least I liked it. I thought Cena-JBL was shit but I marked out when Cena won the title because I was pro Cena but now I'm very anti-Cena so i hate the match even more when I watch it nowadays.

I am not a big fan of this Wrestlemania. There were 4 remerable matches: MITB, Taker vs Orton, Edddie vs Rey, and Angle vs Micheals. Aparrt from these mathces i would not recommend that anyone buy this DVD.

WWE New Year's Revolution 2006

WWE New Year's Revolution 2006 was a pay-per-view which had a bad side, and a good side. But overall, I would call it "decent".

*Match #1: WWE Intercontinental Championship: Edge vs. Ric Flair (c)
This match wasn't too bad, but this is far, far away from being a classic. The ending was pretty nice, with Ric Flair bleeding for like the 104957th time. 5/10

*Match #2: Women's Championship: Mickie James vs. Trish Stratus (c)
This was suprisingly good as both divas have in-ring wrestling experience. A good amount of counters brought this match to be watchable. It is rare to see Women's matches like these nowadays in WWE. Both have a good feud going on, and this match proved it. 7.5/10

*Match #3: Gregory Helms vs. Jerry "The King" Lawler
B-O-R-I-N-G, even though they tried to make some attempts to make this match even "OK". This was a waste of time, but it was nice to see Lawler wrestle again. 2/10

*Match #4: Triple H vs. The Big Show
A good match, these two had a great storyline going on which led to this one. Big Show was injured in this one, and HHH took advantage of it (Show's hand). Both wrestlers just kept going back and forth. 7.5/10

*Match #5: Shelton Benjamin vs. Viscera
WHY? Why did this match even come across the writing team? This was horrible, all boring. Only liked the backstage segment with Viscera and Shelton's momma. Shelton comes back from his long-losing streak in this one. 2/10

*Match #6: Bra and Panties Guantlet Match: Maria vs. Candice Michelle vs. Torrie Wilson vs. Victoria vs. Ashley
Sucked. Mae Young and Moolah coming out made it even worse by making their presence. Two points for outfits and Torrie's suplex. 2/10

*Match #7: WWE Championship: Elimination Chamber Match: Carlito vs. Kane vs. Chris Masters vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle vs. John Cena (c)
Didn't live up to expectations, but this was pretty good. Definitely the weakest out of the previous three (1st - Survivor Series 2002 [Rob Van Dam vs. Kane vs. Booker T vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho vs. Triple H (c)], 2nd - SummerSlam 2003 [Chris Jericho vs. Shawn Michaels vs. Randy Orton vs. Kevin Nash vs. Goldberg vs. Triple H (c)], 3rd - New Year's Revolution 2005 [Chris Benoit vs. Randy Orton vs. Edge vs. Chris Jericho vs. Batista vs. Triple H (Vacant World Heavyweight title - Shawn Michaels as Special Guest Referee). I do admire the WWE for trying to come up with new things like having unexpected situtations (Kurt Angle getting eliminated first, followed by Kane, and the roll-ups which were new as to win the match, but it was still bad). Overall, this was 28 minutes of decent wrestling. John Cena retains. 6/10

Yeah, most people are pissed right now. But wait...

Vince McMahon comes out, addresses that "This individual is cashing in..." which made the crowd go crazy. Edge comes out and gives McMahon his briefcase.

*Match #8: WWE Championship: Edge vs. John Cena (c)
Short match, but another great storyline with it, along with the idea that most people didn't expect Edge to cash in his MITB. Two spears with pins in between leads to Edge finally winning the WWE Championship. 5/10

Good pay-per-view if you like surprises, but overall this was very disappointing. 39/80.

Recommended to rent.

WWE Royal Rumble 2006

To me, this year's "Royal Rumble" was a mere shocker to me. I thought it would be great with the creative logo and promos, but I was obviously wrong. This PPV had problems, such as the "Royal Rumble" not being in the Main Event, but instead, it's booked in the middle. Hello? The PPV is called "Royal Rumble". That would mean that the Royal Rumble battle royal match should be THE Main Event. I also understood why they didn't make it last (The Undertaker's return). The match could of been SO much better... Anyway, here are my ratings for each of the matches.

*Match #1 - Six-Man Cruiserweight Championship - To my surprise, this turned out to be great. All six men put good effort into this one. My Highlight of the Match: When Paul London attempts the Shooting Star Press to the outside, but nobody catches him (sort of), and gets back up to his feet. Was weird, but the move looked pretty nice. 7.5/10

*Match #2 - Mickie James vs. Ashley (Special Guest Referee: Trish Stratus) - This bored me. In my opinion, Ashley needs more training. One point for Trish's outfit, and another for Mickie James aggression attempts. 2/10

*Match #3 - JBL vs. The Boogeyman - I'll say it three times. Skip this. Skip this. Skip this. This was a big waste of time even though it was short. 1/10

*Match #4 - The Royal Rumble Match - Pretty good, had few surprises like: Tatanka/Eugene/Goldust returns, Triple H eliminating The Big Show AND Kane at the same time (wasn't that much of a surprise considering that both were very close to being eliminated) and of course, Rey Mysterio's victory. Great moment for Rey and fans of him, he went through the ENTIRE match (over 62 minutes, holds the record I think) from Entry #2 (which I consider to be the EXACT thing of being #1... Difference is that #1 goes out to the ring first. Big deal.) Still disappointing. The 2005 & 2004 Royal Rumbles were VERY great. Besides that, the 2006 is probably worth a watch or two. 7.5/10

*Match #5 - WWE Championship - John Cena vs. Edge - A decent match between the two. Nothing special. Only thing I liked was Cena's entrance (He comes out in some sort of space shuttle thing). I liked their rematch on RAW (January 30, 2006 edition). I'm pretty much sure that most people knew that Edge would lose the title in this one. 6/10

*Match #6 - World Heavyweight Championship - Mark Henry vs. Kurt Angle - This was boring for a Main Event, but it was decent just like the WWE Championship match previously. I liked it a bit, but this was nothing special. 5.5/10

Aftermath: The lights go out, the gongs are heard... The Undertaker is back! He comes out, with his usual attire with some druids and a horse (I think... Don't remember that much). He stops at the middle of the ramp and raises his arms, summoning pyros. He keeps them there, then throws his arms down, and purple lightning strikes the ringposts. The ring collapses and Taker signals that he's gonna win the World Heavyweight title (I wonder when are they gonna have Taker as champ again, but I don't think it will be anytime soon). And that's a wrap.

Overall - 29.5/60. WOW. Shame on the WWE for putting out something like this. Don't buy this unless your a huge Royal Rumble fan. My recommendation is to just rent this.
