Nice accurate ratings for that Rock DVD, jax the ax!

Thanks Andy, I think it's awesome we have consistent reviewers. I like how you do matches and you usually do rare ones which is more of a plus. Let me know if you watch The Unforgiven Match again to see if you changed your mind btw.

Cal, no I have only done Austin and LOD for DVD's. I have a TON and I mean a TON to get through. Yeah, sure. I can do Taker's second after Bret's....why not!

I just got these 10 DVD's for 6 bucks each they should be here in 2-3 weeks. So after some Raw's from 1999 and individual sets I'll be able to squeeze these in some where. Should keep me busy!

10 NEW DVD's in 2-3 WEEKS:

1) WWF In Your House 11: Buried Alive October 1996

2) WCW Halloween Havoc 1992

3) WCW Spring Stampede 1994

4) WCW Superbrawl 1996

5) WCW Great American Bash 1996

6) WCW Starrcade 1996

7) WCW Superbrawl 1997

8) WCW Starrcade 1997

9) WCW Road Wild 1998

10) WCW Uncensored 1998

With HHH/Cena coming up at Night of Champions I decided to run through a few matches involving the two.

HHH/Cena - WrestleMania 22 - ****
HHH/Cena/Edge - Backlash 06 - ****
HHH/Cena/Orton - WrestleMania 24 - ***3/4
HHH/Cena/Orton/JBL - Backlash 07 - ****

They seem to work well together so I'm expecting a good match at NOC.

Yeah...you REALLY, REALLY want to.

Click on my blogs and go into KOTR section I have a review there of it.

It's phenominal and HBK even has a stellar match but it OBVIOUSSLY was Bret's night with three matches above 3 stars, one of those being 5. All different stories as well! So epic!

Yeah, HBK91, you'd still like the other matches on the card, the tournament was a lot of fun, you need to see Bam Bam/Bret and Bret/Perfect alone. Two CLASSICS you're missing out on. Savage's commentary was also good that night.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Austin101's- WWE Backlash 2006 Review:

"Ugh, this makes me ILL!" -Jim Ross (After the McMahon's win there match)

-Backlash (2006) was the eighth annual Backlash professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (The WWE). It took place on Sunday, April The 30th, 2006 LIVE ON PPV at the Sold Out Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky and was a Raw brand-exclusive event. The official theme song was "Baby Hates Me" by Danko Jones and the tagline was "Long Live The King."

-The broadcasters for this show were Raw's Jim Ross and Jerry the King Lawler as this was a RAW brand PPV.

-For a DVD extra you get Joey Styles "SHOOT" so to speak from Raw when he quits.

-The main feud heading into Backlash 2006 was between John Cena (the champion), Triple H, and Edge, with the three feuding over his WWE Championship. The feud began when Triple H won the number one contender spot to face WWE Champion John Cena at WrestleMania 22. Weeks before their scheduled match, the two continuously feuded with one another. At WrestleMania, Cena defeated Triple H, when he forced Triple H to submit with the STFU. The next night on Raw, Triple H demanded another shot at the WWE Championship, but Edge and Lita interrupted Triple H's segment. Edge became WWE Champion at New Year's Revolution when he cashed in his Money in the Bank title shot, defeating Cena at the event. He was Champion for only three weeks, as Cena reclaimed the Championship at the 2006 Royal Rumble. Edge claimed that it was time for a new opponent for Cena's WWE Championship, after proclaiming that at WrestleMania Triple H lost his opportunity when he submitted to Cena's STFU. Triple H poked fun at Edge by saying his reign was so short he took a nap and missed the whole thing. Pretty funny.....then after that all three men had a series of handicap matches leading up to Backlash with Triple H pinning Cena after a Pedigree, Cena forcing Edge to submit to the STFU, and Edge spearing Triple H and pinning him. Then it was announced that Cena would defend the Championship in a Triple Threat match against Triple H and Edge at Backlash 2006 in the Main Event.

-On Sunday Night Heat before the Main Event Goldust pinned Conway after a running powerslam at 3:38.

-Now onto the PPV...............

1) Opening Contest- "The Masterpiece" Chris Masters vs Carlito

What's this?!? Another team in the WWE broke up? Say it isn't so.

Oh and what's this? The WWE is making another heel who gets some pops (because god forbid they make heel characters actually INTERESTING) and they turn him face. No wonder he's back to heel as see whenever I tune in now. People should always be heels and leave them that way. I think since the WWE struck gold with Rock and Austin when they turned them face they have tried that with so many other guys and it just doesen't work, not even a quarter as good as Rock or Austin can.

These two former tag partners had problems since or before WM 22 I believe so it was a matter of time before this match would happen.

I remember being somewhat surprised that it happened already at Backlash 2006. Thought it may have been a little soon.

Either way this is your basic single's opener in the mid-card. The fans were alright through the big moves but pretty silent everywhere else. They get pretty noisy when Masters is put in his own Full Nelson by his former partner Carlito! King screams "What's THIS!?!?!?!"

In the end Mr. Carribean Cool (What happened to that name BTW?) Carlito pinned Masters after a Backcracker and using the ropes for leverage at 9:53 to win the match.

Two stars but just barely.

**

2) Umaga (w/Armando Alejandro Estrada) vs "The Nature Boy" Ric Flair

Terrible.

Umaga pinned Flair after a Samoan Spike at 3:29.

Short and boring even though it lasted a couple of minutes. Umaga at this point just sqaushed people and was a updated version of Jamal from 3 Minute Warning, nothing more, nothing less. He got better as time went on but this was shit.

1/4*

3) Trish Stratus vs Mickie James (c) for the WWE Women's Championship

This was a great feud but a terrible match. They had a superb one at WM 22 however.

In the end of this boring but short bout, Mickie James was disqualified for choking Trish with her belt at 4:03, Mickie retained the Women's Championship as a result.

Can't give this a DUD because of what they were wearing and the feud was great as I said.

Trish even dislocated her right shoulder in the match when Mickie back body dropped her over the top rope, causing her to try and cushion the fall on the apron, only for this to cause the injury.

This match and the ending wasn't...wow, this is on PPV?

1/2*

4) Rob Van Dam (MITB) vs Shelton Benjamin (c) for the WWE Intercontinental Championship and Money In the Bank Briefcase- Winner Take All(

Finally a GOOD MATCH!

The IC Title and RVD's Money in the Bank contract was on the line as well. Winner take all here...

What a match! This one is a lot of fun....

This match reminded me of Jericho vs Shelton Benjamin at Backlash 2005 or RVD vs Jericho at King of The Ring 2002 with its work ethic and longetivity. It's funny how Jericho was in both my examples but he's not in this match, the other two are. But if this was a triple threat and say Jericho was in the match (or the company at this time) I could see it being around the same rating, as it just wrestled that style.

This match is a classic. This was one that wrestling purists wanted to see, a match between two of the most gifted athletic wrestlers in the game at the time going at it one on one on PPV. They got a lot of time to work with and that only benefitted them and made this a GREAT match to watch for all of us.

This match didn't just consist of SPOTS although it did have them with Van Dam's high flying and Shelton's suplexes and quick counters, but it consisted of some great mat wrestling, a lot of chain wrestling demonstrated here with holds from a reverse chin lock to a hammerlock among other things. The two mat wrestled for a little bit and even and Van Dam impressed me here. Both these guys aren't very high in the psychology department but in this bout they showed good strategies so I repeat it once again wasn't just a match for show, they tried to make this a REAL good one and it payed off for sure!

As for Shelton Benjamin, I really like him and have ever since I saw him open up a house show in the summer of 2002 before he even appeared on TV. I recognized him immediately when he joined Team Angle on Smackdown! in late 03 because he was such a stellar wrestler at that show and he would meet my expectations on WWE TV, I thought the World's Greatest Tag Team was a good move for him. It showed his wrestling skill as he was impressive and even today he steals the show in ladder matches but for some reason he never goes far. I don't even know why they brought in his "MAMA" or died his hair white, or put him in ECW. That's stuff I don't dig to deep into because I don't really follow the product now as much anymore as some of you might know. All I know is Shelton is great and if he got a little better on the mic (He isn't terrible lets get that straight, he's not like Lashley or Sid) then he could go far. He's had great bouts with Angle, HHH, HBK, Benoit, Tag Matches, Jericho, RVD, you name it. Shelton Benjamin is underrated if anything and this match proves another reason why.

Unfortunately he lost the IC Title here though to RVD. But RVD needed to keep his briefcase for ONS 2 where he'd go on to defeat Cena for the title!

In the end of this war RVD pinned Benjamin after a Five-Star Frog Splash at 18:42 to retain his MITB and win the IC TITLE. New Champion.

Incredible contest!

Match of the night.

****

5) The Big Show vs Kane

WOW.

Not only is this slow and boring like you'd expect.

But they actually botched some moves and messed up, JR even said mid-match..."This match hasn't been pretty" and he wasn't talking about for violence either, lets not kid ourselves as King then remarks "Yeah this is no Flair-Steamboat" or he said something along the lines of that.

THEN THEY BOTH GET COUNTED OUT, it goes to a no contest at 9:30. After the match ended when the lights went red and "May 19" came over the loudspeaker. Big Show hit Kane with a chair to "put him out of his misery" Yeah...ok. So stupid.

Pathetic really.

I'll take there Fully Loaded 99 match where Holly reffed over this one thanks, but if I'm really lucky I'll never see these two go at it again.

DUD

6) Vince and Shane McMahon vs Shawn Michaels and "God" in a No Holds Barred match

Wow, I've never got to put GOD in a match title before.

I gotta say God needs to job more. He couldn't put over anyone to save his life. He also let HBK do all the work as I barely saw God in the ring once this entire match!

In all seriousness, as you'd expect (I did anyway) "God" was billed as Michaels' partner, but was only symbolically represented by a spotlight. I knew they'd do something like that obvioussly or someone dressed but the light was my idea and I was right.

This is a fun match, a lot better then I thought. It got pretty brutal as well with the blade jobs, even though I didn't really like the feud.

Not as good as the WM 22 match with HBK and McMahon though.

Vinnie got his revenge here.

Vince pinned Michaels after the Spirit Squad gave Michaels the High Spirits through a table at 19:57.

Pretty good actually.

** 3/4

7) Main Event- John Cena (c) vs "The Game" Triple H vs "The Rated "R" Superstar" Edge (w/Lita) in a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship

Cena beat Triple H at Wrestlemania 22 with an STFU (which was a shock at the time) and he picked up some huge heel heat in the months before that and after so at this event he was booed quite a bit.

No surprise there. They even made Todd Grisham point this out so the WWE can produly say "WE KNOW YOU ARE BOOING HIM!" as an attempt to get the fans to stop being rebellious, but yeah....that didn't work. Maybe Cena and the writing team should lay off the 6 year old jokes and perhaps he should go to wrestling school. Nahhh, dawg. I'm only playin with Homie. Real is Recognizin real here and the dude's got some phat skills. He ain't be tweakin with just punches and kicks in the hood ya hurr....he's goin to WOOOO anytime he steps in the ring with his chain gang! Okay, I'm not so good at that but that's how ridiculous he can sound sometimes.

I remmeber watching this triple threat and being blown away the first time.

NON STOP ACTION! Very enthralling stuff here!

However the second time it felt very short but still good.

This time around (the 3rd time I've viewed it) I now have a better idea of what it should be rated. First of all Triple Threats are always fun especially when you have a crowd that gives a damn who the champion is or is going to be with suspense. (So John Cena helps matters really as it had the fans loud) They booed when he hit, cheered when the other guys hit. A trend that would be seen for most of 2006 and a part of some other years as well both before and after.

Chair shorts, table bumps, even the sledge hammer and Lita were involved!

Great entertainment here.

At the end of the way though after a series of close near falls, and false finishes, Cena pinned Triple H after reversing Triple H's Pedigree attempt into a jackknife roll-up at 17:33 to retain the title.

Kind of good he didn't win with the STFU, I love roll-up victory's my favourite one has to be Bret on Diesel at Survivor Series 1995.

Anyways the match was a lot of fun and at least the show ended on a good note, and the match was good despite a lot of people hating Cena or the fact he ret
