John Cena being the babyface taking a beating. Thats basically it and it was a solid match.
Tell me your thoughts on the match, then?

Nice to see I'm not the only who really liked the cage match. I don't have it as high as you (my rating is ***1/2) but I see quite a few people going below *** which is way off imo.
A lot of people seem to not like the match because it wasn't brutal but in the context of the story it was very well executed. They wrestled it as a title match that just so happened to be in a cage, not a grudge match in a cage. The main focus of both men was winning the match and leaving with the WWE title hence why there were lots of escape and pinfall attempts but not so much use of the cage as a weapon.
After watching it a second time it's clear to me that this was never supposed to be the epic encounter people were expecting. They're saving the blood and the spots for the big feud ender at One Night Stand and I'm looking forward to.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
The cage match was pretty sweet. It was brutal enough for those two. It didn't needed to be a bloody match, anyways. Orton being the cowardly heel and trying to escape the cage at every advantage and especially near the end was better storywise than brutal work, in my mind. I may take my rating down to ***3/4 which is what I did for Undertaker/Edge as well.
I'm a mark for JBL, so that may have added to the score. Still a solid opener.

The fact that Cena's arm was hurting so much prevented him from hitting his so-called '5 moves' so he had to go for his big move straight away to get the match over with.
I was really into the match. It's not often that you have two main eventers come out of a match looking very strong without interferrance or screwjob finish.

A totally over analysis but still if you want to look into it deep.
Like I said, imo good match.

Ownage, nice to see you changed your rating on the match after a re-watch. Like you said, it was a good match that people expected alot from which was half the problem.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
I don't think the expectations for HHH/Orton are the reason for low ratings, it just isn't anything that warranted a very high rating. Giving it *** isn't saying it was bad at all, but it really wasn't anywhere near **** at all IMO.
The pacing wasn't good, their chemistry was off, the cage spots were weak, and alot of the match didn't really flow well or seem to transition smoothly. And for the most part, it was fairly boring until the end.
I didn't see JBL/Cena so I can't comment on that.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
I'm actually REALLY looking forward to watching Judgment Day now after some more favourable ratings. The only match that I'm pretty sure I KNOW I'll enjoy is Jericho/HBK, but the others seem to be getting a wide margin of different ratings so it should be interesting when I get to it myself.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
The cage match told a good story, but if they're going to use the cage as a stip, they should use the cage in the match. That's how I see it anyway.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
I found the cage match boring, and thought the chemistry between the two was non-existant.
