HBK's selling sometimes gets to the point of being absurdand that was one of those matches.
Terry Funk is better at selling than HBK anyways IMO

Honestly the rest of the show was good, you could just skip that match (and you should).

Yeah, Funk is a better seller, but HBKs selling in the HIAC was nearly perfect, imo.

HBK did oversell a few punches near the start of the match.

Taker/Hart Summerslam '97: ****
I really enjoyed this match, but I felt as though Taker wasn't giving it his all at this period in time. He was still the monster, sort of speak, and not so much the great wrestler, that he is now.
Anyway, Hart did some good legwork on Taker, but the Phenom kept coming back for more. Michaels didn't really get involved in the match until the very end, but it was a crucial point in the match though. Also, on a side note, seeing Pillman and Owen Hart walking down to the ring was a rather weird sight, seeing as both of them are no longer among the living.
Anyways, a good ending, with Michaels hitting Taker with the chair and having no choice but to count the three for Hart. Hart was really hated back then and rightfully so. Nobody plays the full Canadian anthem, nobody!

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
The eighth-system works fine for me. The thirds = a much broader scale, which really doesn't fit well with me. It's not hard to comprehend, just requires a fourth-grade knowledge in mathematics.
Good review Austin101. The Booker/Angle storyline sucked . I always thought Booker dragged down Angle, as he does with most opponents.
Here are my ratings for Austin's DVD [Disc 2]:
Austin/Undertaker - ***1/2
HBK & Austin/Bulldog & Owen - ***
Austin/HBK - ***3/4
Austin & Love/Bulldog & Owen - **
Austin/Owen - ***5/8 (could have reached **** if Austin hadn't gotten injured )
Austin/Love - **3/4
Austin/Kane (First Blood) - ***1/2
Austin/Kane (Rematch) - ***
Austin's work with Kane was way better than expected. Both men could have performed a **** + match during that time period if given the proper opportunity.
Disc 2 is a solid disc, better than Disc 1. Disc 3 will have a lot to compete with. I should watch that sometime later this week..

Yeah, this was a great match. I actually have it slightly higher at ****1/4, but I understand your reasoning. These two completely blew this match out of the water over here in England though at One Night Only when they went at it again. The match was ****3/4 even WITH the dodgy finish. It's absolutely incredible stuff.

Gotta go to a BBQ, so I'll be gone most of the day and night, be back tommorow a Judgment Day 2006 review!
BTW....thanks troy...
but Austin/HBK from KOTR 97 is at least **** 1/4, I gave it **** 1/2. There WM 14 match is probably *** 3/4.
Also
Bret-Taker SS 97 **** 1/2.

uhh, wow. I gave that one ****1/4, I can understand the psychology of the tag match going over somebody's head, but no way Austin/Kane from KOTR is better than it. Kane/Austin might be the most overbooked match ever

I only have their KOTR encounter at ***3/4. I didn't find the bout ****1/2 caliber, but its solid.
Anyone know why their Wrestlemania match wasn't on this DVD? That one was much more significant in Austin's career..
