Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
Angle retaining his title in the HIAC was the best part IMO. They had spent a year pushing Angle to the moon, and it would have been stupid for his title reign to end that quick. If they weren't going with Rock/Austin at WrestleMania 17, I would have liked for Angle to have main evented 'Mania with the belt.
I downloaded Armageddon 2000 last night after everyone was talking about it, as I wanted to see the HIAC match again. I think I actually preferred it when I first saw it. Now it doesn't seem as special. ***1/2 to ***3/4 from me.

I actually had it at ***3/4 when I rewatched it the first time, but then just upped the rating to **** after seeing it again a couple moths ago.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
Just rewatched Hardy/Edge. Still can't believe how great of a story that match told. Starts off well with them trading massive rights to show their hatred and building the cage walls which plays in extremely well later. Of course Hardy takes his shine and then Edge starts getting his by a missile dropkick to the back of Hardy's head (watch their previous match to get the significance of this). From here on in it's basically all Edge which kinda pissed me off but Hardy's awesome selling of the head plus a few very neat powerbombs of/into various things kept me into it.
Great work by the camera crew btw, the two shots I distinctly remember are the shot of some chick holding here hand over her mouth after that sick top rope powerbomb spot and the frustrated fist pump of some guys after a great hope spot. Eventually Hardy gets the advantage and the crowd goes fucking nuts. Hardy works them into a frenzy, especially the spot where Edge is tied up in the ropes and Hardy's laying into him like a madman. I still mark out everytime I see that spot for some reason, I think it's cause the crowd were so into it. Then Hardy rams Edge's head into each side of the cage and busts him open. Great camera shot of Edge lying bloodied and trying to get up but Matt lines him up and kicks him in the head, much like Edge did to Matt earlier.
Lita throwing in the briefcase was a nice touch and the spear against the steel cage was a pretty good false. Hardy then gets the advantage back with a Side Effect off the top. Lita manages to get into the ring and breaks the pin and the crowd heat is off the map. they tease Edge leaving Lita in the cage with Matt but he pulls Edge away from the door. Lita picks up the abandoned briefcase and lines Hardy up, only for him to grab it and throw it away and hit a twist of fate on Lita! Another massive pop but then Edge gets a spear in and everyone thinks it's over. You could almost here the crowd collectively groan but Matt gets a hand up!
Match ends with Matt dropping the leg off the top of the cage and pinning Edge to an enormous pop! Fucking amazing, considering the WWE isn't renowned for good cage matches.
Rating - ****3/4
Overrating it? Maybe by some people's views but it was seriously THAT good of a match for me personally. The multiple storylines intertwining coupled with some amazing pyschology and selling by both guys, not to mention great spots (but not overdone) and the falses all gelled together so well. Highly reccommended to anyone who wants to know how a shine/heat/comeback/falses match should go or someone who wants some quality storytelling.

Great review, Showstopper. I'd have to watch it again before giving any sort of opinion on it, but I alwayd remember liking it quite a bit (about ****1/4).
What did you think of their Street Fight from RAW not long before, or after, it (not sure of the dates)?

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
What do people think of the new Rock DVD's content? Tried to look if it had been discussed in here but couldn't find it.
It seems a pretty good compilation of matches. Glad to see additions such as Backlash 2000 vs Triple H. I'll be glad watching that again, loved that match. I did expect WrestleMania X-Seven vs Austin on there, but it does have their XV and XIX matches I believe.
I assume there is no documentary. That kinda disappoints me, but then again they've done it before on the other WWF Rock DVDs. And maybe it's a good thing, since not everybody has kind words for him anymore
Maybe he's on there at least introducing the matches? Again, probably not.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
Survivor Series 2006
Team Spirt Squad vs Ric Flair and Various Legends- **
The match was slow and I only enjoyed the last 2 minutes of it. Still nice to see Ric get the win.
Benoit vs Chavo- ***
Some pretty good action in this, still missing something that would make it higher, but I hated the whole Vickie/Chris/Chavo storyline, maybe that's why I can't rate it higher lol *shrugs shoulders*
Mickie James vs Lita- *** 1/2
Pretty damn good Diva's match in my opinion. Great to see Mickie win, but then again it's just great to see Mickie period.
Team DX vs Team Rated RKO- ** 1/2
Straight squash match. I thought the idea of the two teams facing off would bring a 35-40 minute all out warfare going down to the wire with Rated RKO and DX left and DX walking out the winner, but NO DICE.
Mr. Kennedy vs Undertaker- **
Bad match. I loved the feud, but the matches weren't that great. Ending sucked as well lol
Team Cena vs Team Big Show- ***
Actually a fairly good contest. I thought the ending was cool, but I would have rather see Lashley be the sole survivor to help push him more, but WWE was all Cena-ed out then.
Batista vs King Booker- * 1/2
Garbage, straight garbage. Booker deserved a better title reign that this man. Batista sucks.. Undertaker vs Booker would have been a better feud, Lashley vs Booker(No Mercy was a fatal four way and doesn't count), ANYTHING but this. This sucked.
Overall- **(Not a good PPV by any means, but I watched last night)

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
The Rock would have to be on there introducing and talking about the matches. I've never a WWE DVD where they just go through the motions, at least not for a Superstar Profile DVD.
I am happy Backlash 2000 is on there(one of my favorite matches personally just due to the atmosphere with Austin returning) and that WM XV is on there. WM XIX, I can do without, but that was still a good match. Some of the matches on there, I could do without, but I think it will be a solid release.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
Survivor Series 2002
Jeff Hardy, Bubba Ray and Spike vs 3 Min Warning- *** 3/4
I actually LOVE this match. Good action all the way through and the ending with D-Von and Bubba reuniting was icing on the cake.
Bily Kidman vs Jamie Noble- ***
Good match. I thought the Cruiserweight Title produced some damn good matches that just weren't given enough time on PPV or TV for that matter. Good ending too.
Victoria vs Trish- ***
Pretty good match here especially for a diva's match. I enjoy this match.
Brock vs Big Show- **
Poor match, but I went crazy when I saw Brock hit that F-5, as did the crowd.
Guerreros vs Edge/Rey vs Benoit/Angle- **** 3/4
As close to classic as you get. I loved this match, I just wished this was not an elimination match and a one fall to finish match because Angle and Benoit leaving first was just wrong lol.
Elimination Chamber Match- *****
Beautiful match, all the way through with an awesome ending.
Overall- ****(one my fav PPVs of all time)

The Undertaker DVD didn't have him talking about matches, there was just a voiceover talking about his career and explaining the feuds before each match. Probably because they wanted to keep Undertaker in character seeing as he was back as the Deadman so didn't want him talking normally about matches.
I'm holding out hope that Rocky is on the dvd talking about matches, but i doubt it.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
Just rewatched the Flair vs HBK (WM XXIV) match and there's no way I'm gonna change my rating. It was and it will always be a 5 star classic. Despite the failed bridge, which IMO still hurts the match, I can't think of anything bad. Flawless match, with a lot of emotions and storytelling. I loved the psychology, especially the whole SCM story. Hands down for both men. What a performance, worth a place in the top 5 all time matches for me.
