I wanna buy an ECW DVD from the original ECW time until 2001. What is the best ECW DVD out there? Thanks Alot!

P.S. I did buy Hardcore Heaven 2000 and also wondered what you guys though of that.

Cool, I heard about that one a while ago, just never knew any of the details on it. Like you though, if the match listing is as good as it has potential to be, it's a must-buy for me.

And Word, I agree; some of the stuff the guy was puling off was amazing. I still have him as the best flyer ever.

Enjoy the Pillman DVD Clique. I know you will, even if it's not one of your favourites you're gauranteed to rank it up there. You will absolutely love to own Canadiam Stampede, War Games, the Liger match, the promo's and that doc in your collection among other things.

Thanks Andy and Viva i'll try and do it tonight. I've watched three matches already and the Regal-Holly match was surprisingly VERY solid.

I own a lot of the Starrcade matches already so hopefully this BEST OF DVD contains a lot of material I don't own, I'll still probably buy it either way. The WWF Really needs to release some WCW PPV's for real.

I liked them... they're just promos and segments that led to the build up of each match.

HHH King of Kings Reviews

disc 1

Debut WWE match-*
Does what a debut squash should do and TBF * is being generous but it ticks all the boxes

v Marc Mero, IC title-**1/4-1/2

First time i have ever seen this match and i enjoyed it despite hating Mero, Perfect was great and his turn at the end was well played out.

V Mankind, KORT Final ***1/2-3/4

First time i seen this match in like 11 years and i forget how solid it was. Good entertainment, this match really has the 'rewatchable' factor to it. Fun to see a match between 2 furure WWE champions (who would have a great feud over the title) slugging it out for the KOTR crown.

v Owen hart, WM 14-***1/4

Good wrestling match, I liked how HHH just didn’t focus on his injured ankle, there were times when it looked like Owen was actual gonna win. I liked and disliked the finish. It was good Chyna found a way to outsmart the handcuff stipulation but at the same time- a former world champion beaten by flour in the eyes? It seems weak thinking bout it

v Mankind, WWE Title RAW 99 ***

I have to admit I was talking on the phone during this match so never gave it full attention. Solid enough match and quite interesting to think this was where his first world title reign began, 12(and counting) world title reigns later…

V Stone Cold, WW Title, No Mercy 99***3/4

3 Letters to describe this-W.A.R. From the get go they brawl all around the arena, the crutches spot is particularly amusing. This match really is a ‘slober knocker’ as JR would say. The momentum swings back and forth regulary and both have the match won but no referee, good finish with the Rock interfering, how good it is to look back and see all three in the ring, we never knew we had it so good!

V Cactus Jack, WWE Title, No Way out 01 ****1/2

This was one of my fav matches of all time for a long while but as time as gone on it has slowly moved down he ladder, still a match I immensely enjoy though. The emotion behind this match was excellently emphasized by JR and King throughout, if Foley lost his career was over. Even now, after seeing this match so many times I find myself saying “go on Foley”, I genuinely get excited on top of the cell and at the end I HAVE to stand up as Foley walks out, just have to. The crowd getting behind Foley was great, HHH really did come acros as a real bad guy here, the fall off the cell and the fall through the cell look shoddy compared to the originals from the Taker match but still are good bumps. Steph was good as the evil manager, laughing when he goes through the cell. What lets this match down? Not a lot tbf, it’s a ‘very good/Brilliant’ match, just misses the sparkle to bump it up a ¼* or the full 5 snowflakes.

Disc 2

V HBK, WWE Title, 2 out of 3 falls, Armageddon 2002-****¼-1/2

First time I have ever seen this match and wow-what a contest! Every fall is a classic in itself let alone together. Both men bought their ‘A-Game’ so to speak. There was some great storytelling with the first fall this wild street fight, the second a brawl in a cage then the third a desperately hanging on to whatever is left in the tank ladder match-not once did this match get boring. Flair being ejected from ringside was puzzling since it was a no DQ only to return later? He had a good spot though so I don’t mind. The final moments are well played out, the crowd genuinely thought HBK had it in the bag then bam HBK does a superman through he table and the game takes the gold. Like I said this is the first time I ever seen this match so I feel I have to watch it again to give a more definitive rating

V Batista, WWE Title, Hell in a Cell, Vengeance 05 ***3/4

It’s good to be reminded just how over Batista was with the fans-they loved him. it’s a great match and falls into the ‘stayed inside’ category Some brutal spots and the steel chair wrapped in barb wire was sweet. Unfortuanly for this match it‘s on the same DVD as the Foley HIAC and although I try to review each match on its own I cant help but compare and realise just how much better the Foley HIAC was, Great match but not quite a classic I feel.

V Ric Flair, Last man standing, Survivor Series 05 ****

Brilliant. These 2 go at it like they genuinely want to kill each other, the action is all over the place with good use of weapons. HHH really shows a brutal side and Flair shows his ‘old but still got fight’ side really well (something which he showed a lot in his last few years and not once did it actually look old….). The commentary was also really good, possibly the best match I have ever heard called by the Coach. The multiple pedigree’s at the end was fun to watch, I didn’t like how in the end it came down to a sledge hammer, a better finish I feel would have been HHH doing the pedigree 2-3 times then letting the ref count but meh. A Classic none the less. Got a feeling that this match could creep up ¼ star on next viewing.

V John Cena v Edge, WWE Title, Backlash 2006 ****

I first thought this was the wrong match to end this DVD, I felt it should of been the WM22 Main event but after watching this match for the first time since it aired live I can say the right match made it to DVD! To sum this match up-Fun and the sort of match you show somebody who doesn’t watch wrestling and they will probably still enjoy. The start with Edge standing back worked great then they turned on him leading to a funny spot with them trying to out do the others banging of Edge’s head. The momentum went between all 3 and it looked to be over several times. Lita even got involved-This triple threat had everything a triple threat should have and then a bit more! Towards the end it turned brutal. HHH blade job was intense, his face was just red, I even paused and I could not see any skin color-it’s juts a mask of red blood! Several ending are teased and in the end Cena gets it and as he does a fat little boy on front row starts doing the ‘You cant see me’ taunt and maybe that image sums up why there are so many Cena haters but like HHH says before this match-he deserves a lot more credit than he is given. Another Classic

Final thoughts:
Brilliantly produced DVD, Every single match is decent (except first of course), HHH offers interesting insights in between each match and does not do anything in Kayfabe. The 2 matches on the extra are fun, esp the commentary on his very first professional match. Essential? Yes, I rank this amongst my fav DVD’s simply cuz its all killer no filler. Just re-reading over my review makes me want to watch again tbh, I really enjoyed the journey.

First time i ever seen the match and i enjoyed it alot. And it takes ALOT for me to enjoy a HBK match since his return from his 'career-ending' back injury. I couldnt pick any holes in this match, it was all so well worked. It might of been cuz i'm so bored of seeing these 2 go at it that when i saw a match between the 2 i genuinly liked i overrated, hoping to watch again before the weekend
