Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
HBK/'Taker's probably the one match I'd want to see happen in WWE right now. I'd mark like a bitch if it happened at Wrestlemania...

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
I think its ironic the Taker/HBK feud was so good considering Taker hates HBK.lol

Thanks for the response, hopefully I can pick it up in a store early.

- The reason WWE issued the initial 2008 releases for DVDs with more titles is because Vince McMahon insisted on it. He, of course, didn’t approve the list before it was released, thus WWE is scrambling to fill the vacant dates due to the cancellation of the Randy Savage and Sting DVD projects. A possible replacement might be the second Bret Hart DVD project.

Not sure if this was posted already, but a 2nd Bret Hart DVD would be awesome IMO.

A cancellation of Savage sucks though.

Re: Official WWE DVD Help/Discussion/Review Thread
I just ordered Rob Van Dam - One Of A Kind and Survivour Series 2003. +32 (or higher) rep for an overview rate, and a donation (amount depending of the depth of the rate) for a match-by-match rate.
Ps. A really good in-depth rate will get 100,000 points!
Edit>> Damn! I meant Survivor Series 2003!

Here is a Summerslam review I did a few weeks back:
Quote:
WWE Summerslam 2003
The Dudley Boys Vs La Resistance(c) – World Tag Team Titles
The match starts with a small brawl on the outside, before moving back into the ring where The Dudley Boys dominate the early going. Eventually a cheap shot gains the advantage for La Resistance, as they start to isolate Bubba from his partner. Rene Dupree locks in a bear hug on Bubba, which just seems odd. Nice spinbuster by Dupree though, that only gets a 2 count thanks to Devon. Bubba eventually gains the advantage, and gets the hot tag to Devon, who begins to dominate. Some double teaming from both teams before the Dudley Boys get screwed out of the win by Rob Conway dressed as a camera man.
La Resistance def The Dudley Boys to retain
A surprisingly decent opener, with plenty of fast passed action for a relatively short match (around 9 mins).
Rating: **1/4
The Undertaker Vs A-Train
Both men fight for the early advantage, with neither men being able to keep any advantage they get. This continues for the first few minutes, with A-Train eventually getting it after targeting the ribs of The Undertaker (which had been injured a few weeks ago by A-Train). A-Train smartly goes after the ribs, and The Undertaker does a good job of selling. ‘Taker keeps trying to fight off A-Train, but every time he attempts any kind of offence, A-Train goes right back to the ribs. Double clothesline knocks both men down, followed by both men exchanging rights and lefts. Advantage goes back to ‘Taker. De-Railer out of nowhere almost wins it for A-Train, but ‘Taker manages to kick out. A-Train brings in a chair, but ‘Taker kicks it into his face for a 2 count only. It’s not long after this that The Undertaker hits the Chokeslam for a 3 count.
The Undertaker def A-Train
Sable tries to seduce the deadman after the match, but he isn’t having any of it. He holds her while Stephanie McMahon returns to attack Sable.
2003 was a great year for A-Train, who was involved in some big matches, and really showed that he could get it done in the ring. Another good match in a short time period (10 mins roughly).
Rating: **3/4
Eric Bischoff Vs Shane McMahon – Falls Count Anywhere
2 non-wrestlers in a match is never usually a good thing, and this is proof. The only things worth mentioning are Coach’s heel turn, Shane’s elbow from the top rope to the announce table on Bischoff for the win, and Austin helping out Shane.
Rating: Dud
Chris Benoit Vs Tajiri Vs Rhyno Vs Eddie Guerrero(c) – Fatal Four Way US Title Match
A typical Fatal Four Way match; action all the way through and guys coming out of nowhere to attack someone or break up a pinfall attempt. A really good match, which is not surprising considering the talent involved. Every man in the match produced some good moves, and all had opportunities to gain the win. In the end though, it was the champion Eddie Guerrero who was able to pick up the win with a frog splash.
Eddie Guerrero def Rhyno, Tajiri and Chris Benoit to retain
Not much of a review, I know, but there was just so much happening that I would have ended up writing the match out move for move. This has to be one of my favourite Fatal Four Way matches.
Rating: ***3/4
Brock Lesnar Vs Kurt Angle(c) – WWE Title
WOW. I’m not sure anything I could write about this match could do it justice. When most people look back on the Angle/Lesnar rivalry, they only seem to mention their match at ‘Mania or the Iron Man match they had on Smackdown. While those are both very good matches, they can’t touch this one. Technical wrestling, brawling, submissions, counters, reversals, false finishes, one leg F-5. This match had everything! Not even the interference from Vince McMahon could ruin this fantastic match. Simply put, if you haven’t seen this match, buy the DVD for this match alone if nothing else.
Rating: *****
Kane Vs Rob Van Dam – No Holds Barred
Not quite what I expected this match to be. I thought we would have just seen Kane destroy RVD in a completely one sided match, and although we did see RVD get destroyed, he didn’t just sit back and let it happen. He got some offense in throughout the match, but at the time Kane was on fire, and I think everyone knew that RVD didn’t really stand much of a chance. Longer than I thought it was going to be, but the result was exactly what I thought it would be.
Kane def RVD
Nothing really special in this match, despite the fact we had a ladder, a chair and a tombstone on the steel steps.
Rating: **1/2
Shawn Michaels Vs Chris Jericho Vs Kevin Nash Vs Randy Orton Vs Triple H(c) Vs Goldberg – Elimination Chamber World Heavyweight Title Match
This match had a LOT to live up to before it had even begun. Firstly, it had to follow the 5 star WWE Title match from earlier in the night. Secondly, it had to follow the best EC match to date (and also the first), from Survivor Series 2002. It certainly had the talent to be a great match, but with Triple H being injured at the time, it didn’t stand as good of a chance as it could have if Triple H had been 100%. Say what you want about the game, but when is his 100%, he is one of the best. Nothing really got going in the match until Goldberg hit the ring (last) and completely destroyed everyone who was left. Everyone did a great job of selling Goldberg to look like the monster he was in WCW, and I think everyone (including myself) believed Goldberg was leaving the EC with the title. Unfortunately, even though he was injured, Triple H held on to the title thanks to Flair and a sledgehammer.
Triple H def Goldberg, Shawn Michaels, Chris Jericho, Kevin Nash and Randy Orton to retain
I remember staying up while nearly 4am watching this live on sky box office, and I was pretty disappointed with the match. Quite simply, just as I am today, I was comparing it to the previous EC match, and this one came up short. It had it moments, which prevented it from being a bad match, but it still wasn’t anything special.
Rating: ***
Overall PPV Rating: 7.5 out of 10
The Fatal Four way and the WWE Title match are great reasons to buy this PPV, and are great reasons that it was a good PPV. Add to that a decent opener, a good battle between The Undertaker and A-Train, and a decent Elimination Chamber match, and you have a pretty damn good Summerslam.

Summerslam 2003
Resistance/Dudleys: *3/4 - **
Taker/A-Train: *3/4 - **
Shane/Bischoff: *1/4 - *1/2
Guerrero/Benoit/Tajiri/Rhyno: ***1/2 - ***3/4
Angle/Lesnar: ****1/4 - ****1/2
Kane/RVD: Haven't seen it.
Elimination Chamber: ***1/4 - ***1/2
Haven't seen any of these matches in ages. I also may be underrating the first three matches, but they were each nothing special. Shane/Bischoff is the most entertaining of the three even though I gave a lower rating than the other two.
