– Chris Jericho returned to action at the WWE live event in Singapore at the Singapore Indoor Stadium. He lost to Hideo Itami in a singles match. Correspondents noted that Jericho worked heel for the match. He will also be wrestling at the live events on June 30th and July 1st in Tokyo, Japan at the Ryogoku Kokugikan.

Purely my opinion, but I think Jericho had, from an entertainment standpoint, his second best WWE run last time around. Whether he is 34, 44 or 54, if Jericho brings the entertainment, he is certainly welcome on my screen.

Has he lost steps in the ring? Sure, but through his vast experiences, I think Jericho has really clicked what works and what doesn't and when working with decent caliber talents has shown he hasplenty in the tank. Guy just got a clipboard with a list to be on non-Brock shows the most over thing on the Raw roster.

well goldbergs lazy match skills this year produced a shock win over brock at SS and a memorable match at mania.

if you remove the poor owens match (the title didnt need to be part of that story anyway) and of had him do slightly more in the rumble, his run wouldve been more than ok.

goldberg not putting people over is another thing to be disputed, he came back with the idea of putting brock over which did happen with an extended story arc instead of a one and done match, he beat owens but again thats on wwe, his match with brock at mania didnt need the title and it wouldve avoided all the BS we have now with brock not being around for months.

with most part timers, if wwe had bigger stars now, they wouldnt need them, the part timers are usually the most interesting people to watch because their "stars" now are so dull.

Jericho is the man. Fuck the haters that wants him to retire the man can wrestle talk and hype a match better than 80% of the wwe roster for being his age. I appreciate what he does Jericho might be the only part timer who just put over anybody no question asked something vets like HHH Cena Orton and even Brock should be doing.

Even if you're not a big Jericho fan (for whatever reason), I really can't wrap my mind around someone actively wanting to see him gone/retire. When he is here, it's not like he's holding back younger talent or is one that has a problem with doing a job for a younger talent. And as we all know, last time he was here, he was easily the most entertaining guy on the roster and it wasn't even close. So, why would anyone be in a rush to see him retire; I have no idea. Not like the company is teeming with full-time guys that are entertaining, either, so..

I'm just seeing this now DX. You clearly have no understanding of long term planning. Jericho is damaging to the long term health of the company. He's a quick fix like every part timer. He's taking time and attention away from the future stars and that's not right dude.

when will people learn that wwe lives by the saying "live for today, balls it up tomorrow", long term planning isnt a thing in wwe.

bring em all back imo, lets get ric back in the main events at mania, who cares? might as well have party before the shite really hits that fan and we are left with a sea of beige characters with TNA entrance music.

"future" in wwe is literally next week at the most beyond that is anyones guess.

Am I the only one who doesn't want him back again full time? I really wish people like him and Randy Orton would appear once or twice a year to a massive pop, instead of taking up time from younger talent and putting on boring matches.

You raise an important point. The concept of scarcity is what keeps older wrestlers over, since their bodies can't compete at their previous level.

Two factors are different with Jericho.

1. The product is so long and boring. Jericho's personality is a weekly highlight on Raw, even without a good script. He's best used weekly for his random, easily scripted mic work.

2. If used scarcely, he could build a great feud for a month then put on an average match. Since he can't go in the ring, his special attraction matches would become hollow, and by extension, so would his mic work. His wrestling style these days is best suited for filling in time to help everyone get through the laborous 3-hour Raw. Chuck him in a random 20 minute tag match and he'll meet expectation, then exceed expectation on the mic before/after.

Otherwise, I definitely agree with your stance in general, especially for the likes of Orton who feels too boring/bland to carry an over-saturated show on a weekly basis.

Jericho is like the anti-old timer to me. He puts over young talent, he doesnt' hog the spotlight, isn't treated like he's above the roster due to perception benefits of scarcity of matches, and he's just as good in large doses as he is in small ones. Such a unique and great talent! Let's single him out as ageless.
